I am taking my 6 year old son for our 1st visit to Disneyland on 1/17/09. I am a little bit concerned about crowds. We have only visited WDW and I am a little nervous. :scared:
We are visiting my husband who is away for work, and will only be able to stay in the park until 6pm, so we can have some much needed "daddy" time. I have booked an early Minnie's character breakfast, and we will also be taking the Discover the Magic Tour (since it is just the 2 of us, it is the only time we will ever be able to afford it!! :rolleyes1)
Does anyone ever have experience with Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend?? Any advice?

We will be there that day, too. We are planning to be there at park opening (before, actually) and to run like the wind for the rides we want, LOL! I think that the fact that it is opening so early will help in some cases - annual pass holders don't generally get there till later.

Just start gathering your fast passes at opening so that you can enjoy rides later in the afternoon. Or just plan on a leisurely trip and know there will be lines and crowds. We basically swear by HydroGuy's fastpass plan - it has worked so well for us in the past.

Thanks for the advice! Maybe we will see you there! If you see a mother and son running wild from ride to ride that is us! I will check out hydroguys fast pass suggestions. We will be at the park eating at 8:10 so we should be there before the park opens also... I am crossing my fingers that the day goes well! See you there!

I don't know what it's going to be like, but I just wanted to say that we'll be there too!!

Anyway what was interesting to me was that I just called to make the priority seating today (so 1 week away) at Goofy's Kitchen on the Sunday of the long weekend expecting it to be like March break or summer where it's hard to get priority seating times... and was told that they are totally open! I could pick any time I'd like! That really surprised me... so hopefully that will mean it won't be crazy busy that weekend. We can hope anyway :)

I was surprised with the priority seating also! Minnie's breakfast was WIDE open! And the last time I called we were the only 2 booked for the Discover the Magic Tour! (I think it would be soo much fun to be the only 2 on the tour!!!) So I am crossing my fingers and hoping that things will not be too crowded!:cheer2:

Last minute plan, but we will see you there! We booked a hotel on priceline last minute so there must be good inventory!

I hope to see all of you there! My son and I are getting VERY excited! This is his straight A reward! I just hope it lives up to our expectations!:wizard:

Since you have limited time, have been to WDW, are going to be there on a holiday weekend, AND are going to be able to go on 6 rides with your tour, I would consider maybe hitting the rides that don't exist at WDW first, since those will be new to you and your boy.

Sounds like a fun, quick visit. Enjoy!

Don't forget to ask for 1st Visit buttons as a fun addition to your day.
