Hey Everyone,

We are staying at Marriott Village (Fairfield) the week of March 15th. Any experience there? Safe? How far to the parks? How would you suggest getting to the park from there? Neighbor told me it was a weird location and difficult to get in and out of.

Thanks!

I have stayed at that Fairfield a couple of times.

They seem to have good security, it's a nice complex and the hotel does have interior corridors. As a female traveling alone I was never concerned.

It's not a bad drive to the park. Depending on which park sometimes it's easier to get on I-4 and take the right exit, but what I did was just drive by DTD.

It's very close to the outlet mall, but I don't recall any trouble getting in our out.

How long does it take to get to the parks from there?

I didn't time it... but I don't recall it taking longer then from the Values for example. The ONLY hold up was at the light to go INTO DTD and then the traffic around DTD.

One other trick. (And you might want to look at a map to understand this one...

Instead of driving in front of DTD, go right and turn left at Vacation Club way. That cuts out about half of the lights between DTD and the parks and it's a great way to get to Epcot or MK!

A great place to stay. You have a SpringHill Suites and Courtyard in the same complex, and have access to the amenities of all hotels on site.

The property is approx. 10-15 mins drive from the parks, give or take a few mins on either side due to traffic.

You picked a good hotel in a great location...enjoy your trip to Orlando!

We like this hotel, it's a short drive (as posted, 10-15 min) to the parks. Don't turn right at the light to DTD unless you are headed to DTD. Otherwise, it's faster to hop on the I-4 and take the next exit, this will take get you to DHS and Epcot the quickest. And we always take the back way in to MK, I'm not good with the street names so check it out on Mapquest. Basically, you go in past Bonnet Creek and Ft. Wilderness (and there's a good chance you won't have to pay for parking at the MK parking lot this way, although we have AP's and it doesn't matter for us). Not sure what your neighbor doesn't like about the location; it's a nice hotel in a convenient place.

Neighbor says something about a frontage road making you have to double back and get turned around. Said you can see which road you need to get there but can't get to it??? I looked on Mapquest and can't quite determine what is going on there!

You all have been a huge help! As I've said we always go to WDL and stay onsite, and this our first trip to WDW.

Anyone know if this hotel complex is really noisy?
Wonder what's in the so called food court.

Just thilled to be staying on points and having more $$$ for the parks!!!

I have NO idea what your neighbor is talking about. There is no frontage road near there. Coming from the airport on i-4, exit at Lake Buena Vista and go LEFT at the bottom of the ramp. At the next left, turn onto Vineland Road, Marriott Village is on your left just behind the Bahama Breeze resturant. If you keep going on the right is a Panera Bread and an Italian Chain and a little farther up is the outlet mall. Past the outlet mall on your left is a strip plaza with a Publix and a Walgreens. Pretty much everything you would need!

My Fairfield room had both a fridge and a microwave.

Food Court had Pizza Hut a sandwich place (Maybe a Subway, but..) and some other places. I also remember an ice cream joint.

(I am a Platnium on Marriott and they gave me a discount for food at the food court. NOt sure if you have any status, but maybe they will give you one too.)

Hubby is a Platinum too. Did you ask for the food discount or did they just offer? I told them we are there for DS's 6th day. Asked for a family suite, but one wasn't available for points at the time. We could have stayed at the other two hotels on property, but they wanted another 100,000 points for those! I'm not sure why those two were so much more. Any ideas?

I didn't ask, they just gave it. I had no idea there was a discount.

I think the hotels are all about the same level on Marriott. So my bets that all you could get left with the other two hotels was the Stay Anytime rewards. Mucho more points!
Courtyard generally is a few more points, but for a family I think either the Fairfield or Springhill or better. The Free Breakfast makes it worth while. The Fairfield had a nice set up for breakfast.

I have stayed at all three and found them great. I liked the setup for breakfast better also at the Fairfield.

Platinum here too. Using points sometimes isn't worth it in Orlando, especially the jump to anytime points (I usually try for the Res. Inn on Palm and a larger room). Of the Village 3, Fairfield tops the list with the free breakfast. I also think the hotel is quieter than the Springhill Suites (ask for the top floor in your profile). If you decide to poolhop while there, the pool at the Courtyard is the nicest with a waterfall and indoor/outdoor swim area, plus nice atmosphere for ordering a pizza and sitting at a table to eat it. Hope you have a great trip!

I can see what you mean about the point value. I about fell over when I found out the other two resorts were 100,000 more. :confused3 I had to ask myself what the big deal was!! I imagine the Fairfield as a totally disgusting place for that much less, but I was relieved to hear it was fine. It make you worry, you know???

Thanks!

DH and I have stayed at the Fairfield twice, in the last three years. We enjoyed it. Never had any problems. We found the location to be very convenient. Like many others we drove to the parks by getting on I-4 and taking the appropriate exit. The traffic lights in the DTD area will really slow you down, so try to avoid it.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Stayed at Fairfield a few times, This year we were there at Easter, again in October and going back again for Xmas.
Its great value for money, in UK I have never paid more than £29/night incl tax (Approx $45) Clean rooms, free wireless internet, fridge, and great free breakfast.
When we go at busy times eg Easter/Xmas then the traffic is horrendous, can take upto 20 mins to get from Hotel to SR535 but quieter times of year no problems.
Very friendly staff, let us check out 2 hours later in Oct as we had a later flight.
A couple of pics from when we stayed Easter 07

We'll be there too--that's the hotel complex chosen for our cheer squads (and not sure what others) for the competition that weekend.

Stayed there lots of times. Traffic can be busy turning left into the complex because the outlet mall is right there. I don't like the 'food court". Sortof a joke. But lots of places within walking distance.
