Marriott or other 5 bed rooms - not DCR

We are planning for Christmas 2008 and hope to arrive on Christmas Eve (unfortunately our two arrivals at Davy Crockett have not gone smoothly due to various reasons unclean cabin, a large family of ants, no bath only shower with no tray (disabled room) - not ideal with three children 7, 6, 6), wrong keys, wrong cabin - while we have had a great time staying at DCR, we can not cope with the stress of arriving on Christmas Eve and having to change cabins upto four times)

The family room at DLH will be too expensive (over £2000 for 3 nights) using October 2008 half term as a guide, which leaves the possibility of the NPB but feel that this will also be subject to extortionate surcharges.

Therefore my main question is - Has anyone stayed at the Marriott recently as we have read that these townhouses accomodate 6 and look good on the Marriott website and Trip advisor

Other option = leave one child at home ;)

Any other suggestions most appreciated

I'm just back from the Marriot and can definitely recommend it.:thumbsup2

There are two bedrooms . Main has a king size with ensuite bathroom. The other is a twin. 3 kids could easily fit in the king size or you could use the sofa bed in the lounge area for one of the kids.

I haven't been yet but we are a family of 5 and are staying in the thomas cook explorers hotel .

each room sleeps 4 but then some have another room with bunks attached.

Shame about your experience of DCR as this is definitely not the norm with this resort coming highly recommended :)

For other options Hotel Explorer and Marriott's both come recommended.

We're a family of 5 and stay at the Explorers ~ I think the fact we return there speaks for itself! :rotfl2:

I think the Marriott looks absolutely fabulous and definitely gives one more space than a hotel room. Have a look at the hotel FAQ sticky as there's some info on it in there. The only reason we haven't tried there is because the rates for our dates (school summer holidays) are much higher than the Explorers, otherwise we'd have booked there.

We have also returned to the Explorers many times and would not hesitate going back. The bunk room is fantastic idea - we are only a family of 4 but always use the bunk room as is gives us all a bit more space and privacy :)

We love the Marriott!! That is the only place we stay now. We always stay in a 2 bedroom unit. There is a master bedroom with a kingsize bed, private bathroom with huge tub and shower, tv and safe in closet. The second bedroom has two twin size beds and a tv. There is no bathroom connected to the secind bathroom, but there is a full bathroom just out in the hall (with a large walk-in shower). Downstairs there is a small kitchen equiped with a full size refridgerator, oven, stove-top, and dishwasher (and all the plates, utensils, pots, etc). There is a diningroom table which seats 6. The livingroom has a sofa that opens to a queen size bed, an armchair, and a tv and dvd player.
They are quite spacious and comfortable. There is small marketplace at the hotel to buy food/drink items for your room, as well as a bar that has a small limited menu. When you check in, they will give you a map of the local area, pinpoiting shops, markets, bakery...many of which are within walking distance.
Have fun planning your trip!

Hello,

We will be staying at the Marriott for a week starting on Saturday. I will be sure to give you lots of information and a review after we get back. :goodvibes

Thanks for the replies - will have to look into the Explorers option

Ruthiebabie - Unfortunately they know that I never carry out any threats but great idea :thumbsup2

Hi

I am staying at the Marriott as I write and it really is an excellent place to stay. I have also stayed at explorers which was brilliant as well but no comparison to the Marriott. I bought my week at the marriott on ebay at a fraction of the cost otherwise I could never have afforded it.

Hi, we've just returned from 4 days at DCR and had no complaints at all.

Could you ask for a specific cabin rather than one being allocated on arrival.

We stayed on the Moccassin Trail, cabin 142. I think it was the most furthest away from the village though and but we liked that it was so quiet.
