Marriott how much credit needed

I will be checking into a marriott this week. I had some unexpected charges on Credit card.

i believe that when you check in they get pre approval on your credit card to ensure youcan pay for your stay.

How much credit do they get"pre approved"

probably the full amount you owe them - unless you have already paid for the stay - then it would probably be a few hundred?

I travel a lot for business and stay at many different hotel chains. Some will put holds on the card for more than your expected bill and some will have the hold apply for sometimes several days after you've checked out. Because my credit limit is so high I have not encountered reaching my limit because of a hotel (frustrating especially if you checked out 2 days ago). I have encountered co-workers having this issue though and one thing I would suggest for anyone with tight limits is that Marriott offers gift cards. This is one of the few chains offering them now and they are sold at my local grocery store. You can still use your credit card to purchase them at the store and will use them to pay for your bill at check-in. Hope this helps, if this was indeed your concern.
