Twice now I have received an invitation to visit the new Marriott Grande for 4 nights and 5 days for $199. I was thinking of doing this in addition to our vacation in October. Has anyone taken advantage of this offer and what did you think of the stay? Were there any hidden costs? I know you have to attend a presentation and was that a hard or soft sell? Thanks

It wasn't the Grande, but we took advantage of a similar offer at Marriott's Cypress Harbour. In fact, theydidn't send us the offer, instead we contacted Marriott and asked if they had anything available. The sales pitch wasn't especially grueling. It took 90 minutes, as I recall, but only because we asked a lot of questions. We were kind of interested in how the Marriott concept worked.

Anyway... We got to stretch out our WDW trip by a few days in a nice villa, and they threw in 4 Sea World passes, about a $200 value. There wasn't any downside that we could see.

Marriott is usually pretty low key. Just make sure you're actually staying at the resort itself and not some Fairfield Inn up the street. You frequently get a studio but can upgrade sometimes. They usually do not give you the cash/ticket option and the discounted stay both but you can hope. I assume you must pay taxes on the stay. Good luck.

When we did the tour, we stayed at Cypress Harbor, and toured at Marriott Grande Vista. We didn't think much of the Grande at the time because they had one building, and a LOT of dirt being pushed around by front-end loaders. It is so much nicer now;) We liked Cypress Harbor a lot, too. The sell is not as soft as Disney, of course, but it isn't bad.

They may have changed their way a bit. When we were at the BCV at the end of March, we had neighbors from home take that offer. They were told it would be 90 Min., but ended up being more than 3 hours. They said that when the said no, the sales pitch got even harder with lots of free offers. They said that sales pitch kept going and going.

Good Luck,
Rob

Marriott is usually fairly low key but not the the extent of DVC. They must have either gotten a very agressive sales rep or else were waivering about purchasing and let them smell blood. Overall I'm very confident that Marriott is usually pretty soft by timeshare standards.

I stayed at Marriott Cypress Harbor twice through exchange (parent's timeshare) and loved it.

I would stay in any one of the Marriott timeshares every time if I didn't have DVC. Very beautiful, spacious, well maintained, and in a great location.

People who love OKW (and have a car) would probably enjoy it.
