Overall we really liked this resort. The drive to WDW was about 15 minutes and very easy. The staff at the hotel was very nice. We did have a few issues though.

No cell phone service in the rooms and very little anywhere else on property

The first room we had was pretty recently renovated it seemed and was in building 91 - close to the pool. It was SO noisy. It was like we had the window open. It was so bad that by the 2nd day we asked to move. We were put in building 100. The room was not as new although still fairly nice. The first day it smelled musty but after that we didn't notice it.

Maid service was between 3 and 4 each day. Which was almost always when our DS took a nap. Luckily the towel/supply room was always left unlocked so we never did without towels.

When the maids did come they even put our dishes in the dishwasher and ran it. I thought that was very nice.

The pools were nice but we really didn't use them much. My Mom and DS spent a day at the pool and had Pizza Hut for lunch. They were very happy with everything. I only went in the pool once.

There were a LOT of resort activities like movies and such but we didn't have time for any.

The resort was at a great place on International - not a lot of other businesses and very quiet. Convenient to stores and restaurants but not right on top of them. We'd stay there again.

Any questions?

What cell phone carrier do you use? We have reservation in July and not having cell phone service would be a big negative. We may have to reconsider.

We have Alltel and my inlaws have Sprint. We all had trouble.

We never had a problem with an AT&T cell phone. We didn't use it a lot and only in the room, no issues though.

Our daughter is there now. We have been talking with her back and forth for the last couple of days (AT&T) and absolutely no problems with cell phone calls.

Figures - we had AT&T and had horrible service at home - couldnt even use at our house. So we just switched. Oh well, it was still a great trip.

Thanks for the review! We'll be there Friday!!!

Any certain units you'd recommend? I've heard 79 & 84 are good? Is the marketplace already under construction?

Can you give me any quick back routes to the parks...or does the hotel offer any maps?

thanks.

No resort construction has been started as far as we could tell. The Marketplace was open for business.

To get to the parks, we turned left out of the entrance onto International. When it came to an end we turned right. I think that might have been World Center Drive. Then just followed the signs to the parks. It was very easy and only took about 15 minutes. The cheapest gas we found was on that stretch of International not far from the hotel.

If you want a Ponderosa breakfast you'll pass one on the left just after you make the right turn from International.

I'm surprised you had daily maid service. That isn't typical for a timeshare resort. Is that the standard at MGV?

We are staying here June 14th - 21st. in a 2 bedroom Villa. I would also like to know about check in. We really do not want an incidental account. Did they require one?

Thanks :)

If you are a regular guest you get Maid Service. If you're an owner or someone using transfer points, you have to pay for maid service. Since we were using Marriott Reward points we got maid service for no extra charge.

I don't know if they require an incidental account or not. We got one because we wanted to.

Can anyone tell me which buildings have 2 bed recently refurbished units, also which buildings overlook the pool and which overlook the lake area, we are staying at MGV for the first time in July and would like to be located in a quiet area but not too far away from the pool
Any info would be appreciated :surfweb:

I don't know if it is required, but they do ask for a credit card for incidentals at check in. I would assume that they also use the credit card as a hedge against villa damage during a stay. I've never refused to give them a card so I don't know what the reaction would be if you didn't want to give them a card (though perhaps they'd require a cash damage deposit).

BTW, we generally don't charge anything to our room during our stays at the resort.

Buildings 80 (the main clubhouse/reservation desk building) and 81 are on either side of the main pool area, 79 and 84 are either side of the new pool complex, there's a smaller pool area behind building 91 and close to building 92, and there's a fourth pool area behind buildings 97 and 98.
Buildings 77 through 79 and 84 through 86 are the newest buildings and are up to date. We were in an older building (99) in March that had been refurbed. I suspect that the others in that area are also refurbed and have been told that most other areas of the resort have been completed but I don't know which ones haven't.
Buildings 77, 78, 79, 84, 85, and 82 have the most direct lake views. Depending on where you are in buildings 81, 83, 86 and 80, you may have partial or limited view of the lake.

We've found the buildings with golf course views to be the most relaxing as they're generally a little bit away from most of the resort action. Only building 86, of the buildings mentioned above has a golf view. Building 77 is near the entrance road to the resort. The buildings in the 95 to 100 grouping are near the front of the resort, have their own (smaller) pool area but the furthest one is only about a five to eight minute walk from the main pool area. Buildings 93 and 94 back up to the golf course but face the main road in the resort. These two builidings are across the street from the main pool area. 87 through 92 are off to the back of the resort and are the furthest from either the main pool or new pool areas. Buildings 82 and 83 are between that group of buildings and the two that are next to the main pool area. I think that those buildings are well positioned as they're not far from either of the two big pool complexes.

Thanks so much to Dick Taylor for posting very informative info this will be of great use to us in requesting a suitable unit, it's very much appreciated
Kind Regards from Heavenlyscent :)

We stayed here in 02 in building 82, place was nice.

Highlight of property was seeing (from our 3erd floor balcony) a gator eat a pigeon that was getting a drink from the lake................... awesome ::yes::
