Hi ...just realized that DH has 64,000 Marriot Rewards points! How can we get teh best bang for our buck and score a delux accomadation when we visit the world??? Any hints? We were thinking off season may be our best best...where should we stay? Grande Vista looks nice but looks like we need more points..unless we can buy a few nights also. How does this whole thing work? Or should we try to accumulate more?

Marriott is pretty much the same as the Hilton. You need to go to their website and punch in the dates that you want to travel to see what is available under their rewards program. I will tell you that 64,000 points is really not a lot. We are staying at the Hilton DTD for 5 nights and that is costing us 250,000 points. Hubby used to be a big Marriott guy so we are familiar with their program as well Now you may be able to get more nights at a lesser Marriott brand hotel but the best way to see is to go to their website, login and see what is available. Good luck!

Look on the Marriott website to see if they are doing a credit card offer. They run different specials, but we got an offer like "X" amount of points w/ your first purchase and a free nights stay (or something similar). You can earn points w/ regular purchases and bonus points if you pay for a Marriott stay w/ the card. Might be worth checking into if you decide to accumulate more points.

The Marriott points for stays in Orlando are high! I think everything (including a stay at plain 'ole Fairfield) is a cat. 4 at minimum. We'll use our points for a one night stay once in a while (tacked onto a DVC stay) but otherwise I save those points for other locations and get more bang for the buck. Instead I pay cash: last year, Thanksgiving week, I was able to book the 2 b/r Residence Inn on Palm for $134. a night. However, YMMV, so good luck figuring what works best for you!
