married to a NON-Diser?

Marie, and all our family, went there in '99, to celebrate her return to health. I really got bitten by the Mouse. I wanted to go back the following year, she was not ready yet (still isn't I guess). She enjoys much of Disney, thoroughly enjoyed the trip, and will go back, some day. I have been back many times since, all solo (though rarely alone there what with all the folks here from the DIS), and last year, DD, Natalie, joined me there for about half of my days there. That was great, we had a super time. Marie does go to the Chicago area DIS meets, enjoys seeing all the folks from the area at the meets, and is Lady M here on the DIS, though pretty much left the boards after a nasty period of time here on the DIS, back in '03. So, someday, she will go back, just not yet. :)

I'm married to a closet Disney fan! He pretends like he doesn't like Disney World but he really does. When I get in trip planning mode, he groans and complains and acts like it is such a huge chore for him to have to take me and the girls to DW. But he really does like it, otherwise he wouldn't go. I often catch him talking to other people about Disney - we were on vacation at the beach last week and I came out to the pool to find him chatting with another family about where to stay, etc. I know exactly who started that conversation!

He's not a DIS-er though. In fact, he barely gets any computer time since me or DD's are constantly using it!

DW likes Disney, but doesn't post on the Dis. I think she enjoys hearing about some of the topics as long as I keep it to a minimum. :earsboy:

This thread is HYSTERICAL!!! My DH is DEFINITELY not a WDW fan! We have a 3 1/2 year old son who has been there 5 times already! We just had a new baby (she will be 3 mos on 8/23) and her first trip is in October! My son LOVES going to WDW and is obsessed with the monorail and the OLD WDW Vacation Planning Video! My DH calls is BRAINWASHING!!!!!!!!! He calls me and my on-line Disney Friends...DISNEY FREAKS. LOL...he would seriously be happy to NEVER go again, but he goes because he knows I love it so much and now we have kids. Believe me, he complains about it all the time. But then when we are there, he has a magical time. Especially now that we get to see it through the eyes of our DS (and soon through the eyes of our DD, too!!!)
:rotfl:

My husband is the exact same way. My daughter just turned two, and she is totally disney obsessed, and my husband melts every time he can see her smile.

yup, dh hates any kind of theme park! He grew up in the mountains of WV and never even saw a theme park until he met me. He's been to Six Flags Atlanta once, he did ok but it poured and we left very early. He's been to Great Adventure once, wanted to leave after an hr and was not happy when I pointed out what it cost to get in and that the kids and I were not leaving any time soon. I never even considered taking him to WDW. At those prices it's not worth it for him to sit in front of the tv and complain about the prices. I take my mother instead and leave him home to work and feed the animals. He's happy, I don't have to hear his mouth, the animals get fed and I don't have to find anyone to check on them.

You've just described my dh! He says he would be fine never going again, and if we didn't have kids, he probably wouldn't. We usually go as a family once per year, and then some years I make a second trip with some friends. As my kids get a little bit older, I would like to start taking them one-on-one with me.

But he's just like your dh. He wants no part of the planning, but then I'll hear him telling people how great I am at the planning, and that he only has to go along with me, and we'll get to see and do so much. When we're there, he's laughing like a kid on Buzz Lightyear, and just loves watching the kids have so much fun. Then, when we get home, he'll start raving to people about this or that (this past time, it was the hotel).

I really think he's a "closet fan", and is not ready to admit it yet. I'll get it out of him eventually, though. :rotfl:

I am married to one. In fact he even joined the dis as Disboardwidow to send me PM's to ask me questions. He said I would read them quicker than walking down the stairs to ask me (I usually Dis in the living room on my laptop as we have a wireless network and DH is usually in his study doing work.)

He is looking forward to spending Chrstmas at WDW though although he refuses to listen to any of my touring plans. He said he will read them on the flight over. Oh well, the flight is 9 hours 25 minutes, he might just finish reading them in time for landing :rotfl:
