Marriage: The Trip Report - Update 2/28 - Final Thoughts & Link to Disneyland TR!

I briefly saw your traveling home/possible delay post on FB, but I never knew the outcome. I'm figuring you made it home safe and sound. Looking forward to hearing all about it, of course! :goodvibes

Hi Brook! I hope you had a great trip. Creighton received his Mickey Mail and he was soooo excited. He was running around with it saying "mouse, mouse, mouse" and giving it kisses. Thank you very much for doing that for him. You definitely made his day! :lovestruc

how in the world did I miss your report!! Ugh!! Well, I am here now! :)

Okay, you see what time I posted the above post....well I am all caught up now thanks to your super duper links in your first post!! Woo hoo!!!

Oh, and aren't the brownies at EoS the best!!!! Yum!!!!

Hi everyone!!

Obviously - we are back and have been for a week! I've been busy trying to re-catch up on the DIS and work, not to mention living through an earthquake and now approaching Irene! It's been a busy week!

I just wanted to touch base here quickly - I know many of you are friends with me on Facebook, so you know what's up, but just in case you aren't....

Hurricane Irene is expected to hit New York City Sunday. As you may, or may not know-that's where we live. Winds up to 40 mph will start tomorrow (Saturday) and increase from there. They have already issued a mandatory evacuation of the low-lying areas (we are not one of them), and the subways and buses will be stopped completely starting tomorrow at Noon. The Governor's office is urging everyone to stay indoors from 9 pm tomorrow to 9 pm Sunday.

At home here we are pretty much ready. I need to charge batteries and do laundry. I stocked up on food and water and other things. We can easily survive for a few days without power or leaving the house.

I will be updating Facebook as long as we have power/charged electronics and will update here with an "all clear" notice as well. If we are stuck inside and WITH power, perhaps I'll even get an update posted! ;)

Thank you to everyone for your prayers, they are needed and appreciated at this time.

Talk to you SOON!

-Brook

Hi Brook - was thinking of you when hearing about Hurricane Irene making it's way to New York. Hope you, Henry and Joe all remain safe and look forward to seeing that 'all clear' update

Brook, I will be thinking of you. I had seen the evacuation of the low areas and was wondering whether it would affect you. I hope you are safe and I will be looking forward to hearing from you when everything is over!!

Be safe Brook. Hopefully you and the other New Yorkers will not be terribly affected.

Prayers for everyone that is in the path of Irene.

I just posted on Memoms report asking about you. I will be thinking of you guys.

When I lived in Jacksonville, FL, we went through a hurricane (the time 4 crossed the state). We were out of power for 4 days. Although, it got hot, it was some of my favorite memories. There were no long term affects or loss of life and everyone got to be with their families in the candlelight. We read and played games. Hopefully, everything ends up staying off the coast for you. :grouphug:

A couple of years ago we went thru a hurricane and didn't have power for over a week! The no power part was no fun but my kids never played outside so much in their lives, they had a ball :lmao:

You know I think I saw your TA roomate in the single rider line of Test Track on about the 16th in the late morning. I recognized her hair! What's her name again? No Brook, Joe or Henry sightings though!

We had a blast and the boys (3 and 5) rode TT, BTMRR, Splash Mountain, all kinds of big rides and even TOWER OR TERROR!!!! But were scared of the Haunted Mansion, lol. It did break down during the grave yard scene with a ghost popping up over and over again on both sides of them! Oh, and the heat part of TT scared my 5 yo. He said he would never ride it again. I loved it though. I had never ridden. And I FINALLY rode Soarin....twice! The whole family loved it. It was such a fun trip!

Can't wait to hear about yours.

ME!!! Jen.. And I was in the single rider line twice, late morning, on the 15th, so you might have. Usually people recognize me by my crazy hair.
I rode soarin twice this trip as well. Once on the 15th and once on the 19th.

Brook, we will be thinking of you, Joe and Henry and keeping you close in heart and prayers (along with Tim and his family).

Thinking about you, Joe and Henry as Irene invades NY. I hope the power stays on or the outage is short and you can someday have some good memories of this time as you look back on this adventure.

I was in college during hurricane Gloria. The town had no power for a week but we got power back on campus in a few hours due to hospital. A bit scary, but time spent experiencing it actually brings back good memories.

Hi Brook, I've been thinking about you and your family hearing the news about Irene. I hope you stay safe and can "enjoy" the time spent with your boys!
