It has been so long since I have been here I am playing catch up now.. I hope Henry's pic is chosen. I am going in March I will have to keep my eye out for it... beaches and cream looks so good we will have to try it

I know they closed a bunch in RI with only a 20 minute notice! And they closed some in the strip malls. I have been babysitting since the 2nd, so I don't know if my local Friendly's has shut down yet. I am currently not sure if it is all of them or just select stores. I am devastated by this. At my old house we lived a mile from Friendly's so my friends and I would walk there in the summer and get lunch and ice cream. It is very sad, esp since it has such a long history!

Closing the Friendly's!!!!

That was my "go to "place growing up. Come to think of it it does remind me of Beaches and Cream. I had a good meal there and I am glad I did it and will do it again.

That was my "go to "place growing up. Come to think of it it does remind me of Beaches and Cream. I had a good meal there and I am glad I did it and will do it again.

We have a few still around here. Just found them. My kids love that place.

20 minute notice! That's horrible! It really is sad, I'm not even from an area with a Friendly's (originally) and I knew what they were! It's an American icon! I hope some stores are locally owned and they can keep going.

I haven't heard anything back yet about the picture, but hopefully something comes of it!! It would be a lot of fun to see it being used in someway.

I don't recall the video you are speaking about...I cannot place the song "Move Along" - it's probably something current, which shows you how out of touch I am with the real world. I know! I was shocked that there was no wait at Beaches & Cream! Even in the slowest months we've had to wait at least a little while!

We have a few still around here. Just found them. My kids love that place.

That is so funny how Henry was ready for a day off of school!!

If you have room for one more TR I have one going of our May Trip where we were texting each other & trying to meet up. Unfortunately it did not happen but hopefully someday!!

We had just gotten FIVE Soarin' FPs that made us all very, very excited! So, naturally, we headed in that direction!

On the way to Soarin' Henry realized something.

Little Mickey was.....GONE.

We quickly searched the stroller.

No Mickey.

We guessed it was left in the ride vehicle at Spaceship Earth.

We were almost to The Land by this point, and time was tickin', so we told him we'd check right after Soarin'. He was okay with this.

Now of course, we get to Soarin' and the FP return is long. It was 8:20 PM and we had to ride, find Mickey, and get a spot for Illuminations. I was not hopeful.

We quickly gave away 2 of our 5 FPs and then hopped into line

Row 1!

For your safety, please do not dance on the ride.

- miraculously it went very quickly, after our wonderful flight, we were out the door by 8:40!

Now the hunt for Mickey.

I went to Spaceship Earth and pleaded my case with a CM working inside the aftershow. Joe went to the bathrooms near by where we had made a pit stop before getting the Soarin' FPs.

The SSE CM came back...no Mickey.

But just as the CM was telling me this, Joe called. A maintenance worker in the bathroom said he had JUST taken it to Guest Relations!



So we both hightailed it over to Guest Relations.

Joe had beat me there and the CM was already searching for it.

No Mickey.

She searched through a box. No Mickey.

She went into the backroom. No Mickey.

She looked through everything again. No Mickey.

She opened drawers. No Mickey!

The CM was a bit baffled that the maintenance worker would say that when she had been working here and NO maintenance worker had come in recently!

By this time I was prepping Henry for disappointment.

Then suddenly, she had an idea, a place she had not checked. She disappeared into the back room again - we all got hopeful.

She returned...WITH MICKEY!!!!!!!!

Henry was incredibly happy and was hugging his little plastic Mickey!! It was a very sweet moment. The CM even cheered with us! All this search for a 2 inch plastic Mickey. Slightly absurd, but in the eyes of a 3 year old, it's priceless.

So did we make it to Illuminations?

Yes, we did!

8:55 PM we ran out of Guest Relations, thanking the CM over and over again and made it to Canada. It wasn't the best spot, but it was fine. We were a bit drunk with pixie dust and were just happy everything had worked out.

Henry put little Mickey inside his shirt pocket, just peeking out over the top so he too could watch Illuminations.

I held Henry (and Mickey) close while Joe snapped pictures.

In hindsight we should have gone up on the Canada stairs, but all well! We enjoyed the show - that's what matters.

We made our way back to the Boardwalk and saw a skit going on that we have seen before, but not in a long time.

This guy has a whistle in his mouth, he doesn't talk at all. He does quite a few different things with hats

and as a finale throws a little basket ball into hoop on an ever-growing pole, it's pretty impressive!

We all enjoyed watching him, Henry was laughing and clapping. After the show ended he allowed kids to come up and try balancing the hats, and Henry wanted to try it!

He was SO good with Henry!!!

It was a wonderful ending to the night!!! We were soon up in our room and Henry was asleep in seconds! Joe and I eventually followed suit.

The next day was March 4, our last full day at the Boardwalk before we moved over to BLT.

Aw what a great night you ended up having.

Isn't amazing how the littlest toy can mean soooo much to a 3 year old?? I am so so happy they found that little Mickey for cute little Henry.

I sure am glad that story of Mickey had a good ending! I was afraid it was going to turn out much differently We lost Alexa's little visor in EPCOT and the Guest Relations had a hard time finding it also. They went in multiple places, and finally were able to find it.

Love the pictures of Henry spinning that hat. So cute! I am so excited for you to move to BLT my FAVORITE

Oh no little mickey!
HAHAHA I ALWAYS say "no dancing on the ride!!" So true. We took pictures last time pretending to dance on the ride. What jokers we are.
Oh my gosh I'm SO glad she found it!! That would have been such a let down! Poor henry! Thank goodness he was there after all that!
Wow! AND you made it to illuminations!? That takes skill. Those pictures are gorgeous!

Hurray for finding Mickey. Avery left her purse on the bus on our trip last spring. A week or so later it was mailed home to us!! Glad u also were able to see Illuminations.
