FIL says we need to bring copy of marriage license on our Sept 1, 2005 Wonder. I have been on other cruises with DH and never needed it before.
Help. I am in the last minute stretch of packing and gathering neccesities.
I've been on 2 cruises and have not brought my marriage license. No problems! I have read about some people having concerns about their name on ID not matching their name on birth certificate but no one has ever questioned that. I figure my maiden name is on my kids birth certificates along with my married name so that is plenty of documentation for me.

Charleen,
The main reason for taking a ML is for proof of why you name has changed.
I have only taken my marriage license once and that was on our first cruise because my DL had not been changed to my married name. I now use my maiden name as my middle name. I have never taken my ML on a DCL. I have read on other boards that you should take it. Had a flame by one male TA over my reply on that board. All I know to tell you is I have not had any trouble in the past wtih DCL over not having it. I would think if you have your DL and your BC that should be fine.
Oy, this is exactly why I listed my maiden name as my middle name on my drivers license. I went to Mexico and Canada using my BC and drivers license, with absolutely no probs.
always remember that despite what any cruiseline requires or does not-it is immigration law that you need to follow. i also have a hyphenated last name (maiden-married). prior to getting a passport that shows both i always took along my marriage certificate if traveling out of the country-while the cruiselines never made an issue of it, the immigration (and airlines post 9/11) did request to see why my drivers lic. differed from by birth cert. and yes-i am a u.s. citizen.
if you have questions check out the i.n.s. or u.s. passport web sites-they give the most up to date information on u.s. citizens traveling out of the country.
Ditto to what Barkley said. The cruise line reps do not have any skin in the game. What matters is what the official at the end of the cruise says and what the applicable regulations/policies say.
Selena,
I know where it is, just got to find the keys to retreive it. Should have grabbed it when I removed the birth cert.
I will be at WDW in 48 hours!
I was told it was necessary to bring it and that occasionally they do check. Last month, one of my co-workers was delayed by two days (had to catch the ship at a different port) without hers. Sadly, she had a passport at home and could have brought that instead. This was not on Disney, but as another poster stated, it is the officials that decide, and not the DCL reps that you call on the phone. If you have a passport, you do not need your marriage license. If you don't, you will probably be fine, but are taking a chance that you may be the one that they target for whatever reason. Have a great cruise!!
