Pardon me if this was posted before but what do you need to do to get a florida marriage license? I live out of state and someone mentioned to me that Florida requires 6 months of pre-marital counseling. Is this correct?

Are there any other requirements?

Hi. I am doing research for a friend who is going to get married at Disney...helping her plan. I do not remember the site I found but if you search florida marriage license I am sure you will find it. I remember it said that while florida residents do need the premarital counceling to have no waiting period out of state residents do not. Hope that helps!

Florida requires that you have picture ID such as a driver's license and your Social Security card or a valid passport number or I-94 card. You may be asked for a certified copy of your birth certificate.

If you have been previously married, the date of your divorce or date of your spouse's death must be supplied. If the divorce or spouse's death occurred within the past 30 days, a certified copy of the divorce decree or death certificate is required.

There is no waiting period for Florida residents who have both completed a state sanctioned marriage preparation course within the last 12 months. There is no waiting period for non-residents to get your license....however, you have to wait 3 days to get married whether you are a resident or not.

On the wedding information that I received it said that there was no waiting period. You just had to use it within 60 days. I was trying to copy and paste it but it's not letting me. :confused3

Some of this information is incorrect. Per my wedding planner, and my officiant:

If a previous marriage ended in divorce within the past 12 months, a divorce decree is required.

Blood tests are not required.

Proper ID is necessary, such as a driver's license, copy of birth certificate, or passport.

There is NO waiting period for out of state residents.

There is a 3-day waiting period for Florida residents.

The license is valid immediately and must be used within 60 days.

The only thing about premarital counseling is that the license fee is reduced if you take a 4-hour premarital counseling course, and that is for FL residents.

Thanks for the information everyone! Ya'll were very helpful!!!! :goodvibes

Just thought i would add in here. I got our marriage license through the mail at Brevard County. It was very easy and relatively quick. We wanted to avoid going to the courthouse while we were in Florida.
