Marriage Equality!

Twenty-two years ago today, DH and I were married. At our reception, a dear friend of ours introduced us to his partner, with whom he'd been living for three years. When I heard the news this morning, I broke out in tears of joy that these two wonderful men will finally, after a dedicated 25 year relationship, be able to be married and enjoy all the privileges and honors that come with having a spouse. I cannot tell you how deeply I am moved by this announcement today, on our wedding anniversary, that our dear friends will now have the freedom to make the same choice that we did, without question or challenge. A truly great day for all who love!

Love this. Brings tears to your eyes knowing that everybody can now have the same rights. It is truly a great day!

Woot!

BTW, I am also in Texas, but I'm in Dallas county and they were ready to go. Here's a link to the first ceremony performed today. http://www.wfaa.com/videos/news/local/dallas-county/2015/06/26/29340059/

Just wanted to see Mickey in technicolour again! Lovin' it.

This was my last FB update because I seriously can't take anymore of the ignorance and have deleted quite a few people today.

"If today's Supreme Court ruling takes anything away from your straight marriage or effects it in any way, then it probably wasn't as awesome as you'd like to think."

This is perfect! Do you mind if I quote you?!

My mantra for the day was 'Love will always win, because God is Love.'

I wish I could understand why people are up in arms about this decision. I mean why do you care who marries who? How does it affect you in your daily life? It is frankly none of your business what someone else does. Live and let live!

I am so happy for all the couples that are now entitled to say "hey let's get married", and now they can.....
God Bless America!

Wow

Looks like the counties in and around my area are pouting and not issuing marriage licenses today. Just read this breakdown on my local news site:

  • Bastrop County: Not issuing. Waiting for recommendation from Attorney General.
  • Blanco County: Not issuing. Waiting for recommendation from Attorney General.
  • Burnet County: Not issuing. Waiting for recommendation from Attorney General.
  • Fayette County: Not issuing. Waiting for recommendation from Attorney General.
  • Gillespie County: Not issuing.
  • Hays County: Not issuing. County Clerk says their system is not prepared to handle the change.
  • Lee County: Not issuing. Waiting for recommendation from Attorney General.
  • Llano County: Not issuing. Waiting for recommendation from Attorney General.
  • Mason County: No response yet.
  • Travis County: Started issuing licenses at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
  • Williamson County: Not issuing. Williamson County Attorney’s Office will review the written opinion issued by the U. S. Supreme Court in order to determine the appropriate course of action to recommend to Williamson County officials.

Read a local newspaper article saying Hays County, like others mentioned here, is waiting on the AG's decision. Close-minded maroons.

I don't understand people saying their rights are being taken away. If you don't believe in gay marriage, don't have one. How does this change anything for you?
It doesn't. Which is exactly my own point.
It doesn't take away the validity of anyone else's marriage. If you don't like FINE! That's your right, but it certainly doesn't take anything away from you. (general you) I'm not gay. I don't want to marry a woman. But their right to marry doesn't devalue MY marriage in the least.

I am married for 19 years. I am a woman, my spouse is a man. Our marriage is strong because we make it strong. If it weakens it will weaken because of something we did, not because same sex marriage became legal. If somebody believes that same sex marriage is wrong then by all means, don't marry somebody of the same sex. @@
