We just got back from a 4-day trip to WDW and you all have been so helpful to us that I will try to pay this back with my own reviews.

Marrakesh restaurant - atmosphere was good. I found it not too crowded even though it was in the middle of a downpour and it seemed every table was being used. Our ADR was kept and even though we arrived 10 minutes early we were promptly seated. We were me, husband and 4 year old daughter.

OUr table was literally the farthest from the "Stage" area but we were right along the railing in a little raised up area - perfect. We caught the belly dancer show which was a nice touch. The service was fine - not GREAT, but acceptable.

My husband and I both ordered the lamb couscous - a dish I make at home. The lamb was fall-off-the-bone tender and nicely seasoned but the rest of the dish was very bland. It could have used some salt, cinnamin, and some spices, but was "ok". I wonder if this restaurant used to get poor reviews for being "too ethnic" and blanded down their dishes to be more in keeping with American tastes?

The fruit salad dessert was amazing -I got mine without the ice cream as I can.not.stand mint ice cream. The orange blossom water was wonderful!

My daughter had the spaghetti and meat balls - not very moroccan at all!!!!! She shared a great deal of my lamb and vegetables as she loves this type of food and we were disappointed they didn't have a more authentic but smaller choice on the children's menu.

Thanks jazzyjess....I've seen a lot of poor reviews of Marakesh, but I've always wondered who is writing the reviews. DH and I have been to most of the WDW restaurants, and I really have to say that "ethnic" isn't a word I'd use to describe anything I've eaten there. Most meals, even the ones in Epcot are really geared more towards the less-than-adventurous. We live near Portland, ME, which is the 'foodiest' small city in the US...so we're not timid about anything unique. We did make ADRs to Marakesh for our September visit, even with the many thumbs down we've seen in regards to this restaurant. Glad to hear it's not as dreadful as the meat & potatoes crowd claim!

Interesting review of Marrakesh. We used to love it there, but then stopped going after our last meal there in 2008 was unusually bland. I think you're right about what happened there, and it seems to be a frequent thing at Disney (the same thing happened at Spoodles over the years).
