My family and I are planning on eating at Marrakesh for the first time during our December trip this year. I've read quite a few reviews and they are very mixed. Has anyone been recently and how was the food / service?

TIA :wave2:

Hi there,

We just ate at Marrakesh for lunch this past Tuesday. Our waiter was enthusiastic, but not very experienced. The food was quite tasty. My ds10 had lamb couscous, my dh42 had the other lamb dish (starts with "m" I think). I had the chicken with preserved lemons, rice pilaf. My younger kids had the pasta dish from the kids menu and they ate it without complaint. We had Moroccan mint green tea, very refreshing. Also, the place was almost deserted, though things may pick up during the food and wine festival. Oh yeah, the belly dancer was interesting, as was the ongoing live music.

DH and I went to Marrakesh last week just the two of us for dinner. We were seated on the top tier right by the railing, so we had an unobstructed view of the belly dancer.

Our waiter was Tariq and he was very speedy and efficient. He had another guy (forgot his name) that was helping him - so we essentially had 2 waiters serving us. We told him we were on the DDP and he explained how it worked there. We ordered our appetizers and they came in less than 2 minutes. We got the combination appetizer for 2. The jasmina salad was very good as were the beef brewat rolls. The chicken bastilla had just a little too much cinammon for my taste but still very good too. The chicken wasn't dry and the pastry had just the right amount of flakiness but not too crumbly.

DH ordered the shish kebab for his entree and said it was very good. I had roast lamb couscous, which is exactly the same as the roast lamb meshoui except that the meshoui had rice instead of couscous. I really enjoyed my lamb except that I thought it didn't have enough meat on it. The vegetables in the couscous were carrots, cabbages, zucchini and squash.

For dessert, DH had the Crepes Atlas - he only ate the ice cream so that doesn't really count. I had the Moroccan Symphony which had 2 types of baklava and 1 toasted coconut baklava thingy. The baklava was good but the coconut thingy was a little too sweet for me and I love coconut. I had mint tea at the end of the my meal and that was included in the DDP.

They also served a whole grain bread to accompany our meal. The bread was a little dry and a little cold, IMO.

The belly dancer showed up halfway thru our meal. She was very good and got a lot of audience participation.

IMO, I thought the food could be a little spicier but I can understand why they would tone it down somewhat for the american audience. I liked the food, and I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Thank you - your opinions have been reassuring! The problem is that I book a restaurant I want to try, then I read too much about it, then I look at all of the OTHER places I want to eat.... I think the solution is just to book a month-long trip to WDW and eat EVERYWHERE!!!! ;)

Too many restaurants, too little time!

We ate here for dinner the first week of September on the Dining Plan. We are a family of 7. We sat in a nice corner booth on the ground floor. The food was very good! The belly dancer was also good. Our waitress was friendly and and very efficient with refills etc. Go and have a great time! It was our first visit to Marrakesh after 5 trips to WDW. Marrakesh is now on my must do every trip! :)

I'll be the dissenting opinion I guess ;) We ate there on September 2, just two of us for dinner. We had terrible service. It turned out to be a 2.5 hour ordeal. Whenever the performers would come out the entire staff would just stand around watching them. Our food was cold and greasy, we never got drink refills and the food was less than appetizing. (Yes, I am familiar with morrocan food and this did not meet my expectations.) Anyhow, we won't be back, there are too many other fabulous choices at Epcot to waste a meal there.

DH and I ate there in January of this year... the food was good, the service okay. I think our waitress was pretty new. We were there around 2, I believe. My main beef was that we have the DDE card, and they wouldn't let us use it on the "special" of the day, which was a chicken dish and was about $18. In fact, we met a lot of resistance with the DDE card in January. I'm hoping all the CM's are more used to it now... I mean I know they probably got hit hard with a lot of them in January after they opened the card up to everyone. (didn't it used to be only for FL residents?)

To summarize: the food was good, service so-so (even aside from the DDE problem) The atmosphere in the resaurant was a lot of fun....

I ate there a week ago- I posted this the other day.

Dinner- Marrakesh- I really was interested in trying this place out, after reading many good reviews. It was branching out a bit for me- I like Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, Italian....but never had really had Moroccan spiced foods. The restaurant itself is gorgeous- lots of intricate tile work. The service was very, very good and friendly too. But that music! We were *right* by them, and the kitchen door and it was so noisy you could not even talk to your companions while it was going on...it only lasts for about 15 minutes though, and then they go on a 45 minute break. The belly dancer is gorgeous- she danced with some little girls and that was cute. My daughter miraculously slept through the whole dinner! I had chicken bastilla to start- this is LOADED with chicken. I only had a couple bites and shared with my parents. Different taste- good though. Dad had the beef rolls- has a lot of cinnamon in it- interesting! Mom had a salad. The bread was tasty- warm oat bread. I had the beef kebabs, which came with rice, and my parents had the lamb shanks, which my dad gave two HUGE thumbs up. Aside from the music, my parents really enjoyed this dinner a LOT. I'm glad I tried it, but probably won't go back. For dessert I had the apple crepes and my parents had the honeyed crepes. The boys had a burger and chicken nuggets.

We just got back the end of September and we tried Marrekesh for the first time. We decided to be adventurous and try something different seeing how we had the free dining. It turned out to be one of my favorites and I would definitely go there again. We had very good service and I loved everything they brought us to eat. I ate everything! I had the Royal Feast and I substitued the lamb for the chicken kabob. The salad was good and I loved the vegetable couscous. The Crepes Atlas was really good. Actually I liked all of it except the chicken bastilla which was really dry. The belly dancer was good....she stopped to have pictures with anyone that wanted them. Our waiter was good and attentive. One of my favorites for Epcot.

We went in a week ago just for dessert, which was fabulous--Apple Crepes--and got to experience the belly dancing---very fun atmosphere. This was perfect for us as my children would not have gone for the ethnic food. Would recomend!! :goodvibes

We ate there today at around 5pm and the place was empty....Food was pretty good. Service was good to. Over all it was really good. We just finished eating at every restaurant in the World showcase and it took one year to do.... The best were Canada, Germany, Morrocco, Mexico....

The worst was Norway by FAR....the food was disgusting!!!
