Marketing attached to Halloween Candy!

How big is this Wal-Mart that they have 500 giant sized candy bars sitting on a shelf?

She has a new inflatable jump house business (not in a warehouse, the kind that comes to your house and sets up). There are none of those kind in our area, the closest one has a $50 trip charge. She has the room to store the deflated ones in her spare garage.

Will she charge extra for the ones that fly away with gusts of wind? :rotfl:

I'm sorry, but to spend $2500, allegedly, on candy for marketing purposes is a stretch. More so for a "start up". Is this marketing genius? Maybe, maybe not. You mentioned "even with one sale" it'll be worth it. Ummm, how much is she charging for these rentals?

wow how big are these $4 candy bars? full size bars here (in NY) are like $1 each....

I think the card is tacky but whatever floats her boat.

First off, king size candy bars are only like $1-2 at Walmart. I absolutely do not believe that the candy was $5 per bar, and if it was, I think it was terrible business sense to purchase it when you can buy a regular size Snickers for a dollar or less. She will be out of business in no time if she spends like that.

Second, it's tacky to attach any advertising to the candy. 99% of the cards will be thrown out anyway by angry parents or by sugar crazed kids who couldn't care less. If she doesn't want to give out free, no strings attached candy, then just don't participate.

Frankly, I think she is missing a better marketing opportunity...setting up a bounce house in her front yard. Put a sign out encouraging kids to jump around for free that night. Granted, it may be difficult for kids in costume to do this. But whether or not they jump, everyone will see it. I think it would be fine to have a company sign next to it advertising rentals. This way, the candy doesn't feel like payment for reading the business card. And you are letting people sample the product for free. But really, take the cards off the candy...you will end up turning away more potential customers than you will draw new ones in.

Walmart's website has a 6 count package of full size Snicker bars for that exact amount...$4.27. Are you sure that price isn't for a 6 pack? It's the only way it makes sense. Still doesn't make sense that she spent $2500, as that would be 3500+ candy bars.

popcorn:: is "waiting"

OK, now, can we see the TOTAL at the bottom of the receipt.... and with any luck it'll have the date on it too popcorn::

Don't bother. It is already too easy to prove it is a lie.

The first item refers to this:

http://www.walmart.com/search/searc...ry=004000044327&Find=Find&search_constraint=0

There are SIX bars in that package...so about 71 cents each

The second item is:
http://www.walmart.com/search/searc...ry=004000044327&Find=Find&search_constraint=0

Also SIX bars in that package....so about 71 cents each.

These are the 6-7 OZ full or I guess giant sized candy bars. Not the ones that come in a six or 10 pack.

Oops my mistake. It was $4.27 per bar. Don't know what the hostility or the popcorn is all about.

Lie #1 caught....

http://www.walmart.com/search/?query=003400029005

based on the SKU number on the receipt, those are 6 packs of candy, not individual bars and, regular full size, not giant.

See posts by TAX GUY and I. Both items shown are for six packs (you can search by SKU number).

Doing a search at Wal*mart for 'King Size' (yes, I'm bored)...

Snickers... 3.29oz $1.93/bar

You guys are good!

and now I'm going downstairs and breaking into the Halloween stash. Since we'll be lucky to get 50 T-or-T-ers and I want chocolate!

I'd take offense at Political or Religious material.

Marketing info, I'd toss is in the garbage w/o a lot of thought;)

That was what I was thinking!!!

Maybe coach is schooling her almost broke friend. Frankly, I think you will lose more business than gain.

I'm glad the size of the bar was cleared up. I was concerned kids were going to have life size bars that wouldn't fit in there bags for 4.27 a piece!!!

Nope no lie. A mistake in my math and understanding. These are the size we are working with.

Anyway I think it is a great idea, but I do think it highly tacky and rude to post s popcorn pic.
