On the evening of Tuesday, August 7, my daughter Hallie (age 7) was in the UK Pavilion at the Kidcot station. She was talking with the cast members and informed them that she could "speak British." I laughed, and the wonderful cast member Mark asked her to say hello to him in British, which she did. He was so great with her and so engaging. She had the most terrific time talking with him about Harry Potter (which I apparently cannot say properly) and practicing her accent. He was so sweet and told me how good she was and how impressed he was, which made her simply beam with happiness. He even taught her a saying his "mum" had had him recite as a child "I'd like a better bit of butter", which she does regularly now. And, he convinced her to try to "trick" another cast member into thinking she was from England. He was so much fun and so creative and engaging. I have bragged and bragged on him and my daughter since then to everyone I've encountered. We had such a wonderful time in the pavilion -- my only "complaint" is that now I am apparently in "British lessons" by my daughter, since she was so good. :-)

I want to pass my thanks along to Mark. He made a 7-year old's day! She is a true Anglo-phile and he just solidified her love of an entire country more than I could have imagined.
