When I was last at Universal (10/90) I had my picture taken with a Marilyn Monroe CM - wouldn't mind doing THAT again ;)

Do they still have 'movie stars' walking around the park? Or is it just cartoon/comic characters.

They still have them.

Actually, no, they don't. Characters like Marilyn, the Marx Brothers, etc. were cut some time back, and only exist for special events when the park is rented out.

Currently, the Studios atmosphere characters consist of The Flintstones, Popeye, Olive Oyl, the Man in the Yellow Hat, Doc Brown and Lucy and Ricky Ricardo.

When we were there in 2001, we saw Doc Brown, the Marx Brothers, Lucy, the Men in Black, Betty Boop, and I think that was it for the non-masked characters.

August 2001:

Marilyn, Charlie Chaplin, sitting in convertible, in a parade.

Laurel & Hardy in same parade as well..

Also, Lucy, Ricky, Barney and Fred, doing a little comedy routine, and also Barney/Fred, Wilma/Betty together... Betty Boop also

Augus 2002

Lucy, Ricky still around
Betty Boop (and not a costumed one, a "face" characater)
Wilma/Betty, Barney Fred, but on a car..

Cindy B is correct, Ricky & Lucy are still around I seen them like 2 months ago, I guess they can still hang out because the Lucy Tribute is still there.

Farquaad was cut permanently about a month ago.
The MiB alien (not listed) will no longer exist, (nor will the street show) after this week.

He was certainly an odd character... Will they still meet and greet out in front of MIB?

I was there not too long ago and the "show" consisted of the two agents posing for pictures while the alien went around and scared the pants off of tourists. It was really quite funny. He just spent his time sneaking up on women and children and saying "boo" or whatever. He really "got" some of them good!

I hope they find something else for the primary guy who played the alien...didn't he used to be in the monster makeup show? (the blonde guy)

I was there once with my friend and his little brother. The MIB show consited of the MIBs looking for an alien that was on the loose, so they picked up three guests (including the little brother) and the "alien" as suspects. They then did different tests, like making them dance and getting them wet, to see who was the alien.

It was quite something!

Funny that you would mention that - as he is an incredibly funny actor and guests LOVE him wherever he's at.
He has been at the park for nearly 13 years, primarily at Horror Make-Up. After the contract re-auditions this year, he was released from his contract. Needless to say, it was a horrible, horrible decision and dozens of people in the entertainment department at Universal are still in shock about it.

Wow...that's sad!!! So he's not going to be there at Universal in ANY capacity then???

I remember him and in fact, I still have a video tape of him(in the Horror Make-up show), from WAY back when I first went to Universal Orlando in 1994! He can make a machete look like it's digging into his forehead like nobody's business!

Sad to hear he's leaving...

I have to agree, I saw the show for the first time last Feb! Very funny.

It's too bad the Marx brothers had to go. Getting your picture taken with them was a show in itself, lol!

Are you talking about the tall, long, curly haired british guy?

A while ago, my theater had what we call "Local Filmmaker Night". There was this guy who arrived early and just hung around outside, very quietly, who turned out to be producer of the film. As time came for the movie, he stood by the door and started ushering people into the theater in a very bombastic manner. It was really irritating, since I don't apreciate people yelling in my theater, plus it was making customer's mad at me, because they thought he worked for us.

After the movie started, he came ouside and started talking to some people. I was still irritated, up until I heard him mention that he worked at the "Make Up Show". Right then I recognized him from the show, and finally understood his performance at the door. I told him I was an AP holder, and he invited me to go up and see the show, and bring a girl for him to pick from the audience, but warned me that he would be leaving in a few weeks. "Tens years is a long enough time" were his approximate words.

I went up this past Monday with main intentions to say hi to him, but apperantly it was his day off.

So, are we talking about the same guy, cause I can't imagine him as the alien charatcer.

Gee, no...the guy I was talking about has very blonde hair and he often wears it up on top of his head...sort of like Pebbles Flinstone, but blonde

I didn't know the British guy had been there 10 years... I thought he was a recent addition  Maybe he's been elsewhere for the better part of his time there, but I only recently saw him at the Horror makeup show...well, by recent, I mean last Feb. or so...

The English guy has been at the Makeup show for a long time. I remember seeing him at least 3 years ago. He always made a crack about the Fly pods: "I see your problem -- you installed Windows 98. It's full of bugs!"

Different actor. Also, the big difference is, this particular actor WANTED to leave.

Oh no, he's been there forever as well. He just decided he would move to L.A.
