Margaritaville-what can you recommend?

There are lots of websites with pictures. From experience it is well worth it. I love Jimmy's and the coconut shrimp, a margarita and gumbo are the greatest! you will love it and will not be disappointed. We are headed back there before our cruise in March

Thank you JessicaR for the link to the website. I printed it off to add to our planner. I feel much safer having priority seating before we go out to eat!

I had the coconut shrimp and it was excellent.

Sounds like the service may have improved. DH and I were there in Oct 2002. The food was very good, but the kitchen apparently forgot us or lost our order. We waited for more than 30 minutes for our lunch, then finally flagged down our server, who had never come back to check our drinks. He had to ask us again what we had ordered. It was another 20 minutes before the food appeared. We were not happy :( that lunch at Margaritaville had taken more than an hour out of our already short day at IOA.

ok - when they first brought your plate of coconut shrimp were you like "wheres the rest of the food?!" the amount of shrimp they give looks deceiving, both my sister & I ordered & thought we got jipped when they first brought out the plates but both of us ended up being completely stuffed & couldnt quite finish off the potatoes. the coconut shrimp was very yummy! would definately get them again!

I second or third the Clipper wings - they are not hot, spicy wings but have a very good flavour. I used to get them every visit to universal when I was doing atkins, left what ever park we were in just for the Clipper wings.

I see people getting the peel & eat shrimp there alot, they are boiled in beer & old bay I think is what the menu says, sounds yummy!

I also agree that the calamari is horrible, they over cook it. my daughter LOVES calamari & she completely hated hers from there.

somebody asked about lunch time - no they are not as fun during lunch, no live entertainment (wait, we did catch a reggae singer out on the deck a couple of times on the weekend during lunch but no huge band or anything) , no stilt walkers but yes they do have the margarita volcano erruptions. it is a quiet, not overly crowded place to go sit & eat for lunch, love eating out on the deck in nice weather.

Nachos, quesadillas, and tortilla soup! I've also had the Cheeseburger in Paradise and that was very good as well.

Here are a few pictures from the inside from our recent trip:

I had the blackened fish sandwich--it was wonderful :mickeybar Kids had cheeseburgers of course--also good. The "Last Mango in Paris" margarita was yummy :cloud9: The exploding volcano was great and we enjoyed the concerts on the big screens.

FROZEN MANGO MARGARITA !!!! You'll need it with all those kids ! They are GREAT on a hot summer day or night... BTW The Cheesburger in Paradise is very good, filled me up... and the Jamaican hot wings were incredible.

PS I have 2 photos of inside, and they are both blurry... it is dark in there...

We just got back from vacation this weeked, and we dined there for lunch. I must admit I am disapointed in the food. Our whole family had the cheeseburgers and I didn't like them much. We could eat them but they weren't great like I expected. My mango margarita didn't taste much like mango either. We probably wouldn't go back.

I have 4 words

Margaritas
Jamaica Mistacka Wings

The wings tend to be alittle on the hot side but the margarita is a good compliment. I liked the wings so much I got the recipe. The sauce is also very good on several other meats.........

what's up with not posting the recipe JKW? :)

I just tried the cuban meatloaf last week. yummy.

I will PM you tonight when I get home from gymnastics...........

:teeth: DH and ds had a hard time finishing the nachos. They said they were awesome. The mango margaritas are usually delicious (last time they were too sweet and not enough alcohol). I always have the veggie burger. It's big! The atmosphere is fun and upbeat.

this is only for people whoi know they like it but the calimari there is pretty good (but the stuff at gaylord palms is better)
for those who don't know calimari is fried squid

Sorry UniversalFreak...

Calimari is Squid !
Porpo is Octopus...

Very different taste & texture They would be prepared to gether in a mixed dish such as Fritti di Mari,
Octopus is seldom floured and fried, it is usually blanched or boiled and served is sauce most of the time.

I love calamari and eat it often...the worst I ever had was at Margaritaville. It didnt even taste like they used squid. It was chewy spongy and tasteless and its shape wasnt right either! Oh well...we love Margaritaville and eat there every trip thanks to many other delicious items to order!

I actually enjoyed this place more than I thought I would. I had the bbq and although I liked it, I didn't eat very much of it. I'm a lightweight on spicey and it was too spicey for me. I'm not a drinker at all, but did have a Margarita. I think it's one of the best I've ever had, although everything is better on vacation! The restaurant is very family friendly despite the name. The kids will enjoy it!

1. Jamaica Mistaka WIngs
2. Clipper Wings
3. Bahama Mamas :teeth:
