I'm a big Jimmy Buffett fan and an even bigger cheeseburger fan so I'd love to try out Margaritaville. We have no plans to visit Universal as we are staying on site and doing the DDP but I'm thinking it might be an option for the last day before we head back to the airport.

Does anyone know whether I have to pay for parking at CityWalk if I am just dining?

yes you do have to pay for parking if only having a meal!
but i think its free parking from 8pm

Not anymore Jeanette, used to be free after 6pm but from 1st Jan they have started charging $3 http://www.wdwinfo.com/universal/parkinfo/tickets.html#parking

We were in Vegas Oct 07, staying at The Flamingo, they have a Margeritaville attached. It was the annual Jimmy buffet weekend while we were there, parrotheads everywhere you turned.:rotfl:

They charged us $12 at night when we went to see BMG
and they said it was only free from 8pm, this was last october -just shows how things change!

Can't understand that Jeanette, its been free after 6pm as long as I can remember. Unless its different on Halloween horror nights.

Didn't really get it either until we became Parrotheads. Now it's an essential part of every trip. Singing along to the BuffetMeister whilst eating a Cheeseburger in Paradise and sipping on a Boat Drink. Ahhhhh!

What drink in particular is foul-tasting, btw? :confused3

sounds fun!

Shame. I'm going to have a hard enough chance persuading the hubby to go anywhere near Margaritaville, much less if it's going to cost twelve quid (all right not quite twelve quid but it feels like it with the crappy exchange rate) to park the car.

Still it's something I'd love to do, so might still take the plunge on the last day.

Thanks.

Can't you go after 6pm? only $3 then.

get a shuttle from the hotel and a taxi back, you can do a tour of more bars, Pat o briens is my favourite, oh and Nascar bar and grill, you can have a few drinks without worrying about drink driving.
another nice thing to do is jump on the boat to Portofino Bay, have a drink in the American Bar, walk back via the hard rock hotel bar....u will definately need a cab then.

Possibly, but we're on the Dining Plan and so have made ADRs for every evening of our stay.

Plus the kids (or at least my five year old; my seventeen year old would be game) would prevent us from doing any serious clubbing / boozing.

Hence the plan to go on way back to the airport as we are taking the late Manchester flight and I'm thinking it will be a cool end to the trip.

You've got me thinking though. Is Margaritaville child friendly? Most Jimmy Buffet songs that I have heard are about getting sozzled, so maybe it's more of an adult venue.

Thanks again for all your help.

It is true that liquor features very heavily, but Margaritaville is child friendly, you won't be able to sit in the Volcano bar, as that's a bar so is adults only but the restaurant is fine and every time we've been (which is a few times;) ) there have been plenty of children in there having a good time.

When we were there in November, there was lots of entertainment put on for kids - servers on stilts, balloon animal making - but that was during the evening.
