I would say Margaritaville, but I'm not a big seafood person

We tried Bubba Gumps 2 months ago and the food was ok and the service sucked. The waitress did not really come to the table but for greeting, order, then way after some of the meal was brought to the table. She forgot one of the entrees and blamed it on the cook. Then proceeded to ask me what I ordered. I told her it should be on your ticket or in the computer. She gave me a runaround and I told her, so it she forgot to put it into the computer for the kitchen. I requested the manager and all he could do is give us a free app when we come back. Meanwhile my wife and son have already finnished their dinner when mine arrived and the funny thing is mine was a caesar salad, the easiest to make. Well I told the manager I would never be back and he seemed not to care even after explaining that we are always there at US an IOA. So no thanks to Bubba Gump, the food was ok for the kind of $$$ and just a tourist place. Just my opinion.:)

I love both places! I guess I would have to say Margaritaville is my favorite of the 2.:)

We were very disappointed in Bubba Gumps. Food was a bit too greasy and cool, and our waitress was not the happiest soul on the planet.
Looking forward to trying Margaritaville in a couple of weeks :) Have heard only good things about it.

Another vote for Margaritaville. Although I've eaten twice at Bubba Gumps and liked both visits, Margaritaville is a funner place to eat. Jimmy Buffet music is playing the entire time, music videos on the screens, and the Margarita Volcano erupting every half hour.

I went to both and I liked them equally. Our server at Bubba Gumps' was great with the kids and the food (and drinks) were good. Forest Gump was playing on the tv. Margaritaville was fun for the kids with the balloons, music and the volcano but the food wasn't that great. Hard decision if you had to choose one...

I like that the servers dont bother you, unless you flip the sign over showing that you want their attention.

Being constantly pestered by servers is a pet hate of mine.

I have never eaten at Margaritaville, but Bubba Gump's was just eh for me.

I do like the signs though - I also hate being bugged by servers every 5 minutes.

Margaritaville!
And I just read an article where Jimmy Buffett is building a Margaritaville in Atlantic City, about 45 minutes from my home
Can't wait!

I like them both but if I had to choose one it'd be Margaritaville. In my opinion, they're both very different restaurants. We usually do Gumps for a nice, low key lunch. They have these signs that you flip over when you need something. Most of the time I wouldn't even be finished flipping over the sign and someone would be there asking what I needed. We usually do Margaritaville for dinner. Margaritaville is loud and fun but family oriented. They have people on stilts there that go around making balloon hats, swords, etc. They really get kids and adults involved in the fun. :)

I don't like being bugged either, but after the messup wouldn't you think she would come by to see if everything is ok?

I'll chime in with the minority and say Bubba Gump. Margaritaville is fine, but we are seafood lovers and enjoy the Bucket of Boat Trash. If you're not into fish, the barbeque pork sandwich is yummy too. Service there has ranged from mediocre to excellent...usually it's more towards the good end, thankfully.

We ate at both of them last week, and I think Margaritaville was slightly better. I do love seafood though, and really enjoyed Bubba Gump's as well. And we must have gotten the one good server at BG's, because she was great!

I love both Bubba Gumps and Margaritaville, but I can't really choose one of the other.

Bubba's has great shrimp dishes, but if you don't like seafood, stick to Jimmy's because Bubba's is mostly (if not ALL) shrimp, and their non-shrimp items aren't that great (I once unwisely ordered a chicken dish their to have it come out dry. They do have nice special non-alcoholic drinks like the straberry and blueberry lemonades (which kids will get a kick out of), and their Runnin Across America appatizer is great for a single meal (as well as gives you a variety of choices when you can't pick ONE of their tasty meals), but if you don't like shrimp, I'd avoid it.

Jimmy Buffet's is a fun place for kids and adults to wind down and let loose and is a great atmosphere for kids (balloon hats, huge servings, sing-alongs). But...if you want to eat there, get a reservation. We usually stay on property, so the wait's not that bad, but it can be an hour to a two hour wait....sometimes more. And it's also a popular place for companies to reserve for parties (we once tried to go their on our last vacation, and had to reschedule for the enxt night do to it being booked for a special party). Food's good there, but I'd try to make reservations in advance and make sure no private parties book it the day you want to go.

Overall, they have their pros and cons: both have good food and service (least everytime I go), but it's your choice. Hopefully this helps.

I will say BUBBA GUMPS! We love their food and our waitresses have always been very good and we had a great time in there. The resturant is really fun to walk around. We love it there. I love Margaritaville too. Tough decision!

Well, probably not how other people will decide this debate but...

I emailed both restaurants over the weekend to ask about the availability of gluten free food. Only Bubba Gumps has responded. While they didn't have an allergen information sheet, she was able to assure me that they can adapt menu items so I can eat (so much of it is breaded and fried or marinated in wheat based alcohol, so I was worried).

Anyway, it looks like Bubba Gumps it is. Which is sad, since I like Jimmy Buffett music - maybe I'll just hang out there for a bit.
