Will we be taking our DS 10 months and I was wondering what people thought about walking around with a margarita and pushing your 10 month old in a stroller. I would like to try one, but I grew up in a family where drinking wasn't allowed and am not sure about what is okay and not okay. I usually only drink a glass of wine with dinner twice a year if that

You can "try" a margarita anywhere, not just at Disney...:confused3

I have had a few sips of a margarita before. I would just like to try one at Disney they look so good. I just didn't know how acceptable it was to have a drink with your munchkin in tow. I would probably just share one with DH but I wasn't sure.

its only wrong to drink around kids if you feel the need to hide it.

Everytime we go through Mexico on our WDW trips my DS (9) , will tell everyone to slow down, "Wait, mommy has to get her margarita. " as we come to the margarita stand.

:lmao: I say Go For It!

i say let dh take over while you indulge!
the margaritas are yummy, and they can be potent if you aren't a big drinker. ....enjoy, both the margarita and dh taking over the stroller and the kiddo while you sip and stroll!

that is now my "treat" to myself one night while in epcot on each trip: a margarita and complete abdication of any child-rearing responsibilities while the tequila wears off!

have fun,

My good friend grew up in a family like that. To their parents even now, a glass of wine with dinner is a sign of alcoholism. There is NO such thing as moderate drinking to them. Of course, the mom also has said "it's so nice that none of my daughters has had a divorce" when 3 of the 4 have, and one of them has had two divorces, so she's a bit "off" in ways that are worse than the drinking thing. :rotfl:

That said, when I was a kid my mom worked at a winery, and there was drinking everywhere, and it was all OK.

If having a drinky is OK with you and your husband, then it's OK! Just be *careful* with that tequila if you've never had it. If your stroller has two cup holders (or even if it doesn't, carry the water), have water in that other holder, and take a sip of the water for each sip of margarita. Go slow. Tequila will sneak up on you!

For what it's worth: if this is something you're really looking forward to, then sit down and enjoy it!!! Get the kids a version w/o alcohol-- basically a strawberry slushie kind of thing-- and you enjoy your adult drink.

No one will know what you're drinking or care, as long as you're over 21.

FWIW, I'm a non-drinker and I wouldn't think anything if I saw a mom & dad having a drink while pushing their baby.

Just don't get drunk! lol.

I have no problems with it at all. In fact, we usually make it part of our late afternoon wind down. Kids in strollers, one napping, one just having a break with a bucket of popcorn or a kaki gori from Japan and DH and I each get a drink from one of the countries and we all stroll through relaxing a bit.

I wouldn't think twice about it! Now you might get a funny response from someone, if you were pregnant and drinking your margarita, or Breast Feeding WHILE sipping on one.....but I don't think anyone will look twice at you for doing that!
HAVE FUN! ENJOY IT!

As long as you aren't breastfeeding (and maybe even if you are, I've known a few women who have drank in MODERATION while breastfeeding), or get visibly drunk (because its just not safe to be visably drunk while pushing a stroller).

Since you don't drink much you probably want to take it pretty slow and stop when you feel tipsy - even if it means throwing half the drink away. From tipsy to visibly drunk doesn't take long - particularly if you are drinking quickly and don't have enough experience to judge. (Not that judgement is all that great after tipsy anyway).

Of course it's ok to have a drink or two (or 3!) on vacation :thumbsup2 . Goodness, I grew up in a household where my parents almost always had a glass of wine with dinner. They are very sociable people and always had friends at the house and were always sampling good wines and cognacs. My parents are acutally wine connoisseurs who've been to the Tuscany region of Italy as well as the wine country in CA. I think that being around them all my life, I've never felt the need to hide and drink and didn't care much about going out to bars to "get hammered" like lots of people do when they turn 21 (and younger of course). So I say as long as you're not the one that will need to be pushed in the stroller after a few drinks then please go ahead and enjoy yourself! :goodvibes

Drink up!! I would not even think twice if I saw you....although I think most people are into their vacation and not even paying attention. I certainly am looking at all the sights....not people. It's your time.....enjoy it!:thumbsup2

Alcohol is the devils drink! At least thats what comes out of me when I drink! :lmao: I hardly ever have a drink - don't like the taste of it really, and when I do, oh boy does it go straight to my head!! But there are times when I just feel the need (once or twice a year) to order that Malibu Bay Breeze when we go out - I mean I do have two kids 3 and under! I don't see anything wrong with it at all. Go, have fun, get a little bit tipsie... just as long as your not the one pushing the stroller or breastfeeding!

I agree with the other posters! Nothing wrong with having a drink, even with the kids around. We just tell the kids that they're drinks for only adults, and that they can have them when they're adults. I don't think anyone will look twice, but even if they do, who cares? You're not doing anything wrong! It's not like you're stumbling drunk around the Magic Kingdom with your kids in tow! Have a good time!

your on vacation don't worry what other people think. enjoy yourself
