I looked at a Universal map, but it wasn't obvious to me where the concert stage is - can you tell me exactly where in the park this is?

It would make sense that if you are watching the parade and plan to stay for the concert, you would choose a parade viewing location that gave you easy access to the concert area ..... however, everyone else will be thinking that as well. Are there any locations that are particularly good because they are close to short cuts to the concert area? Is there a good viewing location close to where we can get drinks and snacks that is also close to a good route to the concert area?

Can you get Hurricanes (the drink) in the park, or only in Citiwalk? Can you get any alcoholic drinks that you can walk around with?

The Universal Music Plaza is located across from Monsters Cafe and besides the Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit.

Unfortunately...you pretty much have to choose to see either the concert or the parade. Since the concerts are standing room only, space near the stage fills up quickly and if you're up that close, you can't see the parade very well. You can stand outside Monsters Cafe and around the concert area (near Twister) and see both but you would have to get there fairly early.

There are all kinds of alcoholic beverages for sale at the drink carts but I'm not sure about hurricanes and yes...you can walk around with them.

As MW said, if you want a good view of the show, plan on skipping the parade. However, for all but the most popular acts, you can generally see the show from the back of the crowd (there are jumbotrons on either side of the stage as well), and definitely hear it.

You can get a hurricane to go at Finnegans, across from the Mummy. Be warned, if you get one in CityWalk, you can't carry it into either park. Dumb rule, but it's strictly enforced.

The reason for this is because USF, Citywalk, and IOA each have their own liquor licences.

Here's a good image (found via google images) of the concert stage:

It's nearly impossible to miss, as it takes up the space between Twister and Rockit. During non-concert days, the area looks like this (google images again)

Just imagine that the "grassy" areas are fill with people napping, resting, snacking, etc.
