I just saw the new Universal web update for Mardi Gras, with the special on power passes $99 for Florida residence. I wish there was some way that I could qualify for this, but I am from CA. It asks you to put your zip code in to purchase it online. I am concerned that if I purchased it, that when I go to get my power pass and fill in the address, they will know I am not from Florida. Too bad, it is always so frustrating to pay full price when you see a much better deal out there. Hopefully someone can use this.

we buy three every year for our daughter's three best friends as Christmas or birthday gifts.

doesn't USH offer the same deal to CA residents?

I just looked at their web site and they don't offer any CA discounts. Usually when they offer residential discounts, just like Disneyland, you have to be Southern California residence to qualify.

SoCal/NorCal, amazing they treat residents like that.

I never understood the whole "geography" thing anyway :confused3 isn't your money still as green and worth the same in Florida as a person living in Maine, Texas or Oregon?? I just don't get it?? (not to mention, if they DID purchase a pass like that, how many times do you think someone from a far away state is actually going to use the pass? it's like free money to Universal)

i think the state resident rate is precisely because instate people will go more often than out of state people and spend money on incidentals more frequently.:cool2:

yep, i figured it was to "entice" Fla. residents to visit more....but out of state peeps do not even have the option of purchasing it, and the cost (altho not that much) could affect whether an out of stater visits the park at all (kind of like saving forever for a week in Disney). Like I said, an out of stater could purchase it and use it maybe once, it's like free money to UO. But, i do understand the "incentive" to Fla. residents, just why not offer to others too??? am i making sense, or having that whirling "blonde moment" again?
