Marcia takes her family to POP for a week in Aug, pics! updated 11/6, day 7, pg 8

Great update! I've actually never seen Fantasmic so I may have to try to fit that in on an upcoming trip. With the dinner package you don't have to wait in line?

Hi Marsha! I'm really enjoying your report so far, you family is so much fun. It's great reading another report about a family with adult "kids" still enjoying Disney together as a family. :thumbsup2

MGM is a blast! :thumbsup2 Glad there weren't anymore problems with the room situation. This is fun, and like somebody said, feels like we're right there along with ya! :yay:

(Update soon!)

thanks so much! i was just glad to finally be settled! i love MGM for sure, so glad i can share that with you guys!

Fun update. You know, I rode on RNR twice, but I didn't realize they played different songs. We either got the same song both times, or all Aerosmith songs sound alike to me. I'm guessing the latter!

hehe, yup, they play "dude looks like a lady", "sweet emotion", "love in an elevator", that's all i can remember. i think i've read somewhere that you can tell what song you're gonna get based on the license plate of your limo...but i never paid that much attention!

woo hoo! welcome! hope you enjoy!

MARSHA!!!!!!!!!! It's Tara, from the Japan DISMeet in May! HEY it looks like we will be there together again in December - what are your dates? Jamie (jamstew) is heading down tomorrow AND in early December as well. DISReunion? I already have a DISReunion at the Japan Arch on 12/6 - any chance you can make it???

Tara!!!! hi sweetie! aw, actually, i'm headed to the world in nov, not dec. that would've been awesome to have a reunion, but i have to go before the blackout period at work (retail, borders books, so no vaca thanksgiving - feb 1). bummer, but i'm sure you guys will have a blast, and take lots of pictures!

What a great update! It sounds like you had a fantastic time. I'm so glad you got to do everything and that the weather stayed good enough for fantasmic!! Loved the pics from the rides!
Thank you for the information about Tink. My daughter loves her and I would like to get her one while we are there.
Looking forward to more!

yeah, we definitely felt lucky that the bad weather hadn't hit yet! I love fantasmic! so much. too bad stephen didn't. oh well. and definitely get her a Tink. it's probably like $4, and it's so cute!

Great update! I've actually never seen Fantasmic so I may have to try to fit that in on an upcoming trip. With the dinner package you don't have to wait in line?

well, with the dinner package, you pretty much don't have to get there *as* early. we went in kinda late, so we were more off to the side than i normally like. but our other option was too close to the water, and i had no desire to get wet! so yeah, i feel like the package is worth it. but your mileage may vary!

Hi Marsha! I'm really enjoying your report so far, you family is so much fun. It's great reading another report about a family with adult "kids" still enjoying Disney together as a family. :thumbsup2

yeah, i think they're okay :rotfl2: . and i totally hear ya, i'm so glad we've been able to all keep our love of disney even into our adult years!

Day 3, Fri Aug 15, Part 1

Oh now this was a morning I was very much looking forward to! Out of the family, only I had been on Toy Story Mania, and I was so excited for the rest of them to try it out! Well, apparently, the night before, Chris had had delays, so he didn't get to the room until around 3am or so. So when I went to go wake the boys up, they told me they wanted more sleep and they would meet us before lunch. This threw a wrench in my TSM plan (get FP and ride together right away), so it kinda bummed me out. I told them they wouldn't get to ride, because by the time they got there, the line would be huge. We'll see how that worked out...

So anyway, my mom and I were at the MGM bus stop at 7am, and were on our way over shortly after that. Since it was so early, we were the first ones at the turnstiles. Check it out!
pic222.jpg

We spent some time chatting up the people around us, so time went a bit quicker, and before we knew it, we were let through the turnstiles and up to the rope. First at the rope too! Sweeeet! Once again, check it out!
pic223.jpg

At that point, there was a Photopass Photographer named Rusty, and we spent some time talking to him. He offered to take some pics of us, both Photopass and with my camera. Look at the crowd behind us!
pic224.jpg

We were also talking to a family that was near us, they were parents with teenage kids. Good thing we made friends, because when it came to stampede to TSM, I somehow managed to drop my tickets and stuff on the ground! Thank goodness the mom was right behind me, and picked them up and neither of us missed a beat! Phew! That was lucky!

So I was the first one at my FastPass machine, got my pair, and went straight to the line where my mom...wasn't waiting for me. She had actually gone through the line, and they wouldn't let me go meet up with her (I'm sure many of you will be happy to hear that...and don't worry, I totally understand!). So in a few minutes, I had caught up with her on the regular line, and we were off spinning and shooting! I tried to take a pic of our scores, but I wasn't quick enough. I did manage to get the screen with the ride logo on it though
pic226.jpg

After our ride, we went back toward the hat, to see if we could find Rusty again. And we did! So he got some photopass pics of us, and took a couple with my camera too. What a nice guy!
pic229.jpg

pic230.jpg

We went to head over to ride our fav, the Rock'n'Roller Coaster, of course. But alas, the single rider line was not yet open, and standby was more than we'd ever consider. So we hung out in the RnR store for a bit, and by now it was 8:40am. We wanted to get another set of FP, but obviously, it wasn't time yet. So, we walked around a bit, went through some shops, and basically killed time until about 9ish. At which point, I grabbed a pair of FP for Tower of Terror. Sweet!

Now, I had heard rumors that the Dream Team liked to hang around in One Man's Dream, so we headed in that direction, and went in right after it opened. I really like this exhibit. I took a picture of Dumbo
pic232.jpg

We hung around for a bit, but decided it wasn't worth it to spend too much time there. So when we had seen everything we wanted to, we left. By this time we figured we'd check out the RnR single rider line again, as they had told us it would open around the time they started taking return FastPasses. So we went on over, and yup, it was up and running! Wahoo! The song we got was a Love in an Elevator/Walk this Way combo. Red neck shots...first me, then mom!
pic234.jpg

pic238.jpg

By now, it was just before 9:30am, and to my surprise, I received a call from Stephen that they had just walked into the park! I really didn't expect them until at least 11, so it was a nice surprise. At this point, I made the executive decision...that the boys needed to ride Toy Story Mania...with mine and my mom's FastPasses! That's right. You read that correctly. We *gave* the boys our second ride. Now, this was a bit of a sacrifice for me, as I had already warned them that if they didn't come with us, they wouldn't get to ride it at all. But well, I decided to be a nice sister. Because I really wanted them to be able to experience it.

So me and mom just kinda hung around the area while the boys rode. We probably visited the ladies' room, and I know how exciting that is! You want to read all about it! Just kidding, of course! They were out pretty quick, as the FP line really hadn't had a chance to build yet. And of course, they were hungry. Cause they're boys. And they need to eat 24/7 it seems! So I sent them over to Starring Rolls to pick up some breakfasty stuff, while I went ahead with all of our tickets to get FP for RnR. That line (the bakery!) took forever! Longer than it took me to get the FP, that's for sure.

Once we met up, me and Chris decided to use the pair of FP we had gotten for ToT. My mom was fine with not riding again, as was Stephen. They said they weren't such huge fans, and once a trip was enough. Well, not for me! Or Chris, as it were. We got front row, check us out!
pic240.jpg

The boys decided that they wanted to see the Indy show, while mom and I didn't feel like it. I've seen it so many times, and I did see it on my last trip, so I was absolutely fine with not seeing it again. We had a bit of a time conflict though, as the show started at 11am and went to 11:30ish, and our ADR for 50's PTC was at 11:25am. Good thing that Indy show is pretty much right next door to the restaurant! So we just told the boys to meet us there as soon as they got out. Wasn't a problem whatsoever.

But while the boys saw Indy, me and mom had some time to kill, once again. We decided to head over to the Animation building, just to check it out, since I don't remember ever going in there. We were going to do the drawing show thing, but the timing didn't work. So we checked out Sorcerer Mickey's line, but that was too long, so we just walked around. I found WALL-E. Never saw the movie, I still need to do that.
pic241.jpg

pic242.jpg

Took some other pics as we walked around
pic243.jpg

pic244.jpg

pic245.jpg

Then we went to head over to the 50's, and on the way, the High School Musical Show was going on. Now, I've never seen these movies, I know nothing about them. I just know little kids go ga-ga over them. So since we had a few minutes to spare, we watched a bit. Twas cute enough.
pic246.jpg

pic248.jpg

Mom and I got to the 50's a few minutes before 11:25, and checked in, and told them the boys weren't there yet. It really wasn't busy, since it was so early, so they just told us to tell them when the boys arrived. Which we did. We knew David was off this day, so we didn't bother heading to the bar ;) .

We were seated shortly after 11:30, and Brenda was our server. I knew to set the table, and she was impressed. Yeah, I've been here a few times :rolleyes1 . Here we are!

pic250.jpg

Food and drinks ensued, we all enjoyed it, as usual. See dining review for more details! At the end of the meal, the boys wanted to do shots...so they went to the bar and I ran after them with the camera
pic263.jpg

While we were gone, Brenda had brought over a cupcake for my mom, and since we were missing in action, she waited til we got back to do the celebration...which meant the whole restaurant sang Happy Bday to my mom! It was so funny!
pic268.jpg

Once we were done with lunch, our RnR FP weren't up yet, so we all decided to go on single rider. As you know, I love that single rider line! Good times! These red neck shots didn't come out all that well, so I won't bother to post them. Suffice to say, we all made funny faces as usual :thumbsup2

After riding, we were ready to head back to Pop for a rest. We were at the bus stop at 1:25, and my head hit the pillow before 2pm. I, of course, took a nap, while the boys and my mom spent some time in the pool. While I was sleeping, the boys had decided to take a cab to the liquor store to pick up some booze...they were being economical. And at the end of the trip, they figured out that they had easily made up their money. Ha, and we had 2 half bottles of liquor left to leave with our next fridge swapper. I found out they had gone from my mom when I woke up. They were even back before my mom and I headed over to Epcot later that afternoon. So they were pleased with themselves.

next up: late afternoon/evening in Epcot

Fun! I wish I had been able to ride TSM, but we only had a little bit of time at DHS, and we decided RnR and the TOT were our must dos. I guess that means I need to go back!

What a kind sister giving up your fastpass so your brothers could ride. Don't know if I would do the same. :rotfl: ;)

Great update! Sounds like a great time and your brothers were smart to get liquor off site!
What a fantastic time so far, looking forward to more!!

That was really nice of you to give up your FP's. I have a hard time getting pics of Fantasmic also. I was so excited I got a decent picture of Mickey my last trip. Oh, and my DH didn't enjoy that much and I think for the same reason as your brother. He had missed it the first time we went, so for two years I talked about how I wanted him to see it. Maybe men just don't like images on water.:scratchin

I loved your empty MGM-park pictures! :goodvibes Very cool. And now I know to get a picture with Wall-E this year, he's too adorable for words. (And a great photo op! :lmao: ) Can't wait for more.

I loved seeing your "redneck" ToT photos. :thumbsup2 I love  ToT! Definitely my fave attraction at WDW! I also enjoyed seeing your rope drop pics... Hollywood Studios is the one park I've never been to at rope drop so it was cool to see what it looks like empty.

You were so sweet giving your brothers your TSM fp's. I don't know that I could have been so generous! :rotfl:

oh yes, you must go back, because you must try toy story mania!

yup, i never even saw the movie, but thought the cut out was cute, and there was no line!

glad you are enjoying the pics! sometimes i feel funny taking them, but i think i'm pretty much over that by now! :rotfl2:

Day 3, Fri Aug 15, Part 2

So after a refreshing nap for me, and a rest by the pool for my mom, we got ourselves ready to head to Epcot for the evening. The boys wanted to hang out more at the pool with their alcohol, so they told us they'd meet us for dinner. Fine by me.

We were at the bus stop at 4:35pm, and a bus pulled up right away! Perfect timing! I snapped a pic as we approached the Epcot gates. Okay, so it's far away. Sorry bout that!
pic279.jpg

We were putting our tickets through the machines by 4:55pm. Sweet! My mom hadn't gotten herself a crepe and champagne yet, so of course, our first stop was to France. I wasn't complaining...I needed a slushie anyway :thumbsup2 . We didn't have dinner til 7:15pm, so my mom wasn't worried about ruining her appetite. I did help her out by having a few bites. Yum-O!
pic283.jpg

I had picked up a times guide on the way in, and saw that the British Invasion was playing at 6pm, so we headed over to Japan to check out the drummers for a while, since it wasn't yet 5:30. Love those drummers! They are amazing. Here's some pics I took on the way
pic285.jpg

pic286.jpg

pic287.jpg

And here are the Matsuriza drummers
pic289.jpg

pic290.jpg

pic296.jpg

After that, we slowly made our way to United Kingdom to check out the fake Beatles, as I like to call them. Hehe. We ran into Belle and the Beast on the way, although, no way were we gonna wait on the line. But I had to get a couple pics of Belle for Stephen.
pic297.jpg

pic298.jpg

Then we went over to grab some seats for the show. My mom was lucky enough to nab a seat on a bench, and I had no problem pulling up the curb.
pic302.jpg

While we were waiting, the Pooh characters were making their way out of the building behind us.
pic303.jpg

pic310.jpg

And then it was time for the show! They played Hard Days Night, I Need You, If I Fell, Help!, 8 Days a Week, Just to Dance w/You, and Ticket to Ride. Good show! Love these guys!
pic309.jpg

I was bummed that Off Kilter wasn't playing today, but I figured I'd catch them on a different day. Or would we?

Anyway, we then spent some time wandering around the UK and Canada pavilions and shops. I've never done the phonebooth pic, so I just had to!
pic317.jpg

Those Canadian waterfalls and gardens are so pretty!
pic319.jpg

pic322.jpg

While we were wandering around, I got a call from the boys, who were making their way toward the World Showcase. We met up with them shortly after, and headed over to Italy for dinner at Tutto Italia. On the way, we passed Morocco, and Mo-Rockin was playing...and the boys wanted a pic of the belly dancer. Boys :rolleyes1
pic326.jpg

Right, my brothers like to do things they're not supposed to, so Stephen scaled a wall in Italy. He got yelled at to come down, like I told him he would. But why would he listen to me?
pic327.jpg

Dinner was excellent! Very highly recommended. You can read about it in my dining review if you'd like. Here's Chris with our waitress, Antonella, who he thought was hot!
pic336.jpg

I had called Morgan's parents (that's my best friend...her parents live in Celebration...if you haven't read stuff by me before, then you don't know, but now you do!). Anyway, I wanted to see if they wanted to meet us for a drink and Illuminations, but they ended up being out of town. Oh well! Next time! So we decided we would skip Illuminations, as mom was tired, the boys wanted to head to Magic Kingdom EMH, and I wanted to go to the Tambu Lounge before heading to MK EMH. Haha, yeah, we all went in different directions! I took some pics on the way out.
pic352.jpg

pic353.jpg

We all walked out of the park together, and we sent mom to the Pop bus. The three of us kids went to the monorail over to the TTC. Chris likes to do weird things too...yes this pics is right side up...
pic354.jpg

I left the boys at the TTC, where they caught the express monorail to the MK, while I took the short walk over to the Poly, since I wanted to hit the Tambu Lounge, and not get to the MK til EMH actually started.

next up: Tambu Lounge, and EMH @MK

Day 3, Fri Aug 15, Part 3

So yup, the boys headed over to the MK. I told them they probably wouldn't get much done, as it would be pretty busy. But they wanted to go anyway. I told them not to worry...that we'd be able to grab FP as soon as EMH started. But an uninformed CM told them this was not true. Grr, since I wasn't there, I just took their word, figuring they had changed something since my last trip...more on that later!

Anyway, so I went to the Poly, and ordered a drink. To my surprise, the pink lemonade drink I had gotten at Chef Mickey's was on the standardized drink menu, so I ordered that. Mmm, mmm good!
pic356.jpg

And here's a pic of it on the menu
pic357.jpg

I spent some time hanging out, watching the Olympics on the big TV they have in there. It was nice to just sit and relax. At some point, I decided that I wanted to watch Wishes from the beach, so I got my drink to go and headed down there. Really glad I did, too, since it was the only chance I got all week to see it. Gorgeous, as usual.
pic369.jpg

pic385.jpg

pic386.jpg

After the show was over, I made my way to the monorail and over to the MK to meet the boys. They had already ridden Jungle Cruise, and something else maybe? I don't know, but they were about to go on Big Thunder, so I met them there. They told me that when they rode Jungle Cruise, Chris mixed himself a rum and coke...and quite amused the skipper. Oh boy, these 2 just cannot be left alone! I do *not* condone this behavior, although, I did think it was a bit funny...

Anyway, so here they are in front of me, in the back of the train of course. They like to make faces...
pic387.jpg

Next up, we went on Pirates, since it had no line, and we were over that way anyway. Here's a pic from the queue.
pic390.jpg

And the boys on the ride...I think Stephen was trying to get out of the picture, but he didn't do a very good job!
pic391.jpg

We hung out a few minutes in the store after the ride, and the boys were really doing a sword fight...I told them to stop for a minute so I could get a picture!
pic392.jpg

And then they put on hats and grabbed guns
pic393.jpg

Oh man. They are sometimes a bit much! But I love them, all the same.

We decided that since there was no line, we would go on the Jungle Cruise, even though they had already done it. They were hoping to get the same skipper that had joked with them not too much earlier, but she was now working on the dock. She warned our skipper to watch out for them though! Haha, we had a blast! Love this one!

Now, I had never been on Aladdin's Magic Carpets, and there was no line, so me and Chris decided to go on. For some reason, Stephen wasn't interested, so we gave him the camera and we were on our way
pic394.jpg

pic398.jpg

Once we got off, Stephen tried to be all artistic and took this picture of a flower. Quite pretty.
pic399.jpg

At this point, I decided it was time for us to get a Dole Whip Float...and to borrow some of the rum the boys had brought. We asked them not to overfill it with ice cream (we did the vanilla soft serve), just so you know, you normally get much more than this. Oh, and sorry it's so washed out!
pic400.jpg

This was a nice treat that we shared as we walked over to Tomorrowland to check out the wait for Space Mountain. Well...wouldn't you know it? The FastPass machines were up and running! I was *not* pleased! I would have so been over there earlier grabbing FP if that CM hadn't told my brothers they wouldn't be open! Grrr! Well, I tried to go with the flow, and just picked us up some FP, which had a return time of 1:15-2:00am. Not sure what time it was, but we definitely had time to kill.

So what a better way to kill time than to ride the TTA? Here we are
pic401.jpg

pic402.jpg

Next, we saw that the Indy Speedway had no line! I was amazed at this, as I never ride this since it always has a line. I didn't feel like driving, so I went with Chris, and we let Stephen go by himself. Good times!
pic403.jpg

pic404.jpg

Chris really wanted to ride the Teacups, but Stephen gets sick just *thinking* about all that spinning! I have no problem with it, so I went on with him. He warned me he was going to spin it fast...
pic411.jpg

I seem to recall when we got off, I said something to him like "Wow, I never knew it could go that fast!" LOL! He really spun that thing! But it was fun. Since we were around there, we checked out Pooh, which by now had no wait. We were getting to the point where everyone was pretty much clearing out, and *this* was the time I was most looking forward to! So we went on Pooh, and then Snow White.

It wasn't yet time for our FP for Space, but we went back over that way anyway. We killed some time in Mickey's Star Traders. Chris tried on a hat. Very nice.
pic413.jpg

Then it was finally 1:15 so we could use our FP for Space! All was going well until...duh duh duh...we had handed in our FP, and were right at the turn, and the lights turned on! Oh no! I was so close to getting out of that line, I felt like we were wasting valuable time! But the boys talked me into staying. It was about a 25 minute delay, yikes! By the time we got out of there, it was nearing 2am, and we wanted to hit Dumbo!

So back over to Fantasyland, and phew, we made it on!

A typical self portrait
pic420.jpg

The characters started coming out to ride with the little kids, just as they had when I did the EMH at MK in May. I love love love this evening EMH! Especially when it starts to clear out. This one is definitely worth it to me! Um, yeah, even though we had yet another AM EMH planned the next day...I can just go go go on vacation apparently! If I tried it at home, I would so crash! But WDW gives me that extra adrenaline, I guess.

Here's a couple of pics from on our way out
pic424.jpg

pic427.jpg

Twas a perfect ending to a wonderful day! We got a bus real quick, and got ourselves to sleep as soon as we could!

Next up: EMH at AK, Tusker House b'fast

I also love that clearing out during the EMH's and you feel like you have the park all to yourself! :goodvibes All of it sounded like so much fun, I was drooling over the Dole Whip Float (one of my favorites!)! Can't wait for AK...:thumbsup2
Also, that last picture at the end facing Main Street with the lights is stunning!

The jungle cruise thing is hilarious! It sounds like your brothers know how to have fun. I bet rum is good in a dole whip!

Hey! I just found your report! I am going back to read!

Edited to say: I am all caught up! GREAT TIMES so far, except for the bad Pop front desk.

yeah, they're out of control, but what can ya do? and yes, it was delish!

How did your brothers get the rum in past security?

well, they just put it in a water bottle. nobody questioned them whatsoever. not that i'm recommending this, but just saying...that's what they did :rolleyes1
