Marching Our Way to a Healthy Lifestyle ~ March 2016 WISH Challenge

I've got my Disneyland plans and reservations made which is an amazing feeling thank you to @courtneybeth for making a few of them, and helping me figure out where exactly I should eat.

I am so happy to help you out. Use our experience to make yours even better :)

We're also signed up for a Gilmore Girls trivia night tonight, but I don't know that we'll go. It's gross and rainy out, and it's being put on by the same guy who did the Disney trivia we went to, and he just wasn't into it. Took a lot of the fun out of it.

Embrace your inner Paris Geller and be ready to answer questions about everyone - DO IT!!! There has to be questions based on jobs Kirk had, Luke's sign in his cafe about no phones, and maybe about the boyfriends. (Jess. Always Jess!)

Also, this is going to make me sound very argumentative/negative Nancy, and I don't mean it to. But @Flossbolna - I read your post, and I super appreciate your sweet and supportive words!! I say I didn't do anything and it just melted off, because the majority of my loss happened in September and October, especially immediately before the wedding, and during those months I really wasn't doing anything.. We had gotten so busy and stressed that we'd given up on our diet and exercise and had resorted back to eating out all the time and odd sleeping hours, trying to get things done. Somehow, some way, it worked and I had some big numbers.

Regardless, I did feel better on my diet, and I'm going to give that a try again. My big problem is getting burnt out on the foods that fall into the high-protein, low-carb guidelines. There's only so many ways to marinate chicken!

Don't worry! It was just a suggestion! :goodvibes People have suggested things to me here on these threads which I know would not work for me, so I absolutely understand! Maybe you need to plan another wedding??? :rotfl2:

To me, even if I don't lose weight because I eat too much of it, it always helps when I eat stuff that is healthy and good for me. And if I feel better physically, it is always easier to get other things into place as well. Good luck on the low-carb diet!

Wow. Joined up to this yesterday and I've already hit a potentioal set back! I've had some unexplained heel pain for about a month and we've ruled out plantar fasciatis and tendonitis. Physio's conclusion was that I've damaged the fat pad on my heel. Well I saw the doc today and we've taken x-rays to help rule out a stress fracture! If those come back negative then I'll be going in for a bone scan to fully eliminate the stress fracture. Ugh... I almost want it to be positive because then I would have an answer but at the same time it would mean six weeks off my feet! So frustrating... I'll just keep eating healthy and lightly working out in the mean time. This just sucks...

So sorry about the bad foot news!! I can relate how frustrating this is! I hope you find a solution to your problem soon. Until then you need to do lots of upper body work - will give you nice arms for the summer season! :thumbsup2

ALWAYS JESS!!!!! YES!!!!!

I know I would win if we go, haha. I -am- a childless Lorelai Gilmore.

@Flossbolna I am just going to pretend you didn't suggest another wedding. That is never something to joke about. I might be currently advising all of my engaged friends to just elope.

@Flossbolna and @JacknSally - Yessss. The banter, interests... everything. Perfect couple is perfect. I love the back half of season 2 and the first half of season 3 because it is the slow burn of their relationship. It reminds me of Season 3 of Dawson's Creek with Pacey and Joey. (I have bad taste in tv shows)

YES FROYO RUN! :cheer2:

The 10K course will be the 5K course twice - so make sure you look at your 5K course and determine if you want to do it twice. We had a "surprise" hill on ours and those poor 10K folks had to run up that hill twice (100 foot elevation gain in about .25 miles LOL). I did the 5K because it was a good chance to PR. YOU CAN TOTALLY DO THIS. And the froyo is yummy. You get to pick a base flavor and then up to 3 toppings. I had the chocolate base with M&M's, but you could have also had crushed oreos, gummy bears, nuts and I don't remember the fifth.

Well that is good information! I'll already be running a 10K in September that's the 5K course twice and that just isn't very appealing. Unless it's a super flat course. I have no problems about running the 5K. It means less time until I get my froyo!!

@SarahDisney Kirk and Lulu are just too perfect. Don't do that. Don't split them up.

I will accept Rory with literally anyone other than Dean. That is my only requirement. I love Logan. Love, love, love. But he had a LOT of growing up to do and more than enough time to do it. By the end of the show, it was obvious he didn't know what he was going to do with his life, and while I think his love for Rory and his proposal were genuine, I just can't see them being married. Marty and Jess had a lot of growing up to do, too, but Jess actually did his growing up. Season 6 Jess was so, so perfect for Rory. I love bad-boy Jess, too, but once he finally got his act together...:love::love:

I might be too invested in the lives of fictional characters. Especially those in Stars Hollow. SO excited for the episodes they're filming right now. They better not ruin anything. AKA Luke and Lorelai better be together, April better be far away, Dean better be too busy with Supernatural to do more than a few minute cameo, and Rory and Jess better be talking again. And since Milo is in 3/4 of the upcoming episodes, I have high hopes. :goodvibes

I ran around like a mad woman this morning and while doing my errands had to actually jog a little. I haven't run in a long time and it was not kind to my back but at least I'm not throwing in the towel this time. I hurt my back several months back and it's never gone back to normal. Reminder: get thyself to yoga class!

@Flossbolna & @DVCFan1994 Thank you both so much for your responses! They truly helped me understand what I need to be doing and I saw a difference in my energy level today by eating back some of the calories I burned! You both are true inspirations and I am grateful that you share with us what you have learned over your experiences! For someone like me who is new to calorie counting the way both of you explained it made so much sense and made it very easy for me to figure out what I personally needed for my daily needs! Thank you again!

My Wednesday Woohoo is not big at all but I did not eat the Reese's peanut butter egg that I desperately wanted. I asked myself do I need this, is it worth it and in the end I decided it was not worth the extra calories. Now I am not saying they will not win eventually but today I said no :rotfl2:

Well, my woohoos are officially no longer woohoos. Got my jacket back and the monogram isn't where I told them I wanted it so it looks really awkward... Plus the stitching is coming out and the jacket material around the stitching is puckered really badly. I'm so frustrated. It's not like I can just remove the stitching and be done with altogether, either, because there will always be holes left from the needle and thread. I know a monogram is something really ridiculous to be frustrated about but if you're going to charge people for a service, make sure you do it well, before you ruin their clothing. Ugh. And DH came home and asked why I stained the desk already because he had more stuff to do to it. When I told him he never told me that, and that the whole time he was clearing a spot in the garage for it and setting it up, he never once said there was more to do, and instead we talked about me staining it right away because I'm tired of not having that room set up, he was just like "well no I know but I had more to do to it before you could stain it". Sorry I'm not a mind-reader this week. Ugh.

Ok, here is my woohoo story: I was going to post earlier today how my woohoo was that I got out of bed early to go for a nice walk (still a bit too affected by the cold to go for a run, I don't want to start training too early) before work and then had a great day with regard to eating. I also had a plan for a nice dinner that was in my calorie budget. And then the bad thing happened: I got hungry on my way home from work and hungrier and hungrier. Before heading home I needed to stop at the supermarket to get some provisions for tomorrow (yoghurt and apples for breakfast, bread for my lunch). That was the first mistake.

The second was that I saw some new type of chocolate that sounded delicious. Normally chocolate is not so bad for me as I am not tempted to binge eat it. I can very well just eat one piece at a time. So, I picked that up as a treat after dinner. At the cash register where they have all the tempting candy the lady in front of me picked up a mini packet of oreos (6 cookies) and then a second one and made a comment how these are so difficult to resist and we chatted a bit about them. This tempted me to pick a packet as well. For future eating of course!! I get home and am now starving. I do get this very low blood sugar and unfortunately nothing really helps than eating and then waiting until the food that I have eaten kicks in. My doctor says that it is nothing to worry about, I just should try to eat more snacks between meals to avoid it... Anyway, back at home I realize that there is no way I can cook my planned dinner as I would eat half the kitchen in the meantime. So, I change my plan and come up with a very healthy and delicious plan B that can be eaten immediately without any cooking. So I eat my dinner. It is delicious, but I am still as hungry afterwards as I was before. So, I try to find something else to eat that is healthy, filling and low in calorie. At first this works, but then things get out of hand! I eat all 6 oreos (that's why I only buy these small packages!), half the chocolate bar and some ice cream from the freezer and when I was heading for some more cheese I finally was able to not eat it!! I even kept thinking of all of you here and how I hated to fail so miserably at my own goals. At the same time I was so cold and seemed to not be able to warm up at all.

So, I decided in order to warm up I would take a hot bath. That would also prevent me from returning to the kitchen for a while and be tempted to eat more. The bath warmed me up nicely and when I got out I had energy again! I went to the computer and read all of your woohoos for the day and that motivated me to track all the stuff that I ate earlier. At least I kept measuring most of it (some things start becoming second nature after some time...). And then I realized that it was not so horrible as I had thought. Who would have thought that my ice cream was actually not as bad as I expected it to be as it seems to have lots of air in it! Anyway. I looked at my calorie balance as it was now and saw that if I would go for a walk, I would at least be able to not have eaten more calories today than I earned. So, that's what I did at 9:40pm! I went out for a nice 45 minute walk. My step total for the day is over 20.000 and I will have a calorie deficit of about 150 kcal for the day!! I missed my goal of 750 kcal deficit by far, but at least it is a deficit - and that is my woohoo of the day!!

Thanks for sharing - this is an awesome WooHoo! We all have bad days sometimes, but it's awesome when you can bounce back and end the day in a decent place. Awesome job!

(Jess. Always Jess!)

I need to say, once again ... NO JESS!!
Logan Forever. (Although I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Dean, who was the perfect first boyfriend for Rory)

@Flossbolna and @JacknSally - Yessss. The banter, interests... everything. Perfect couple is perfect. I'm sorry, in what universe does liking Gilmore Girls and Dawson's Creek mean bad taste in TV? Those are both classic shows!
(Then again, I pretty much know all of The O.C. by heart, so take that into account when deciding whether or not to trust my judgement)

@SarahDisney Kirk and Lulu are just too perfect. Don't do that. Don't split them up.

Fair point. We'd have to clone Kirk to do Kirk and Rory.

No judgement here ... I'm also a little too invested in these things. I'm really hoping that because Amy Sherman-Palladino is doing the new series, it'll be perfect.

I haven't run in a long time and it was not kind to my back but at least I'm not throwing in the towel this time. I hurt my back several months back and it's never gone back to normal. Some jogging is pretty awesome ... and hopefully with time it will bother your back less. But yes, get to a yoga class!

WooHoo for avoiding that temptation today!
Take things one day at a time - you avoided it today, and that's all that matters!

:(
Are you at least still excited for Hobby Lobby? 1 out of 3 WooHoos is better than nothing!

I'm briefly jumping in from my terrible life to say NO NO NO to Jess! Naked guy from freshman year at Yale! Whose name I can't currently remember. :)

NOOOOOOOO Marty lost his chance when he lied to his girlfriend about being friends with Rory.

I'd say Marty is acceptable if we're ignoring season 7. Once the whole Marty lying to Lucy about Rory debacle went down, I can no longer endorse him, which makes me sad.

Can I just take a second to express my sheer joy at finding out there are Gilmore fans in this group??

If we're ignoring season 7 can we also ignore Lorelai marrying Christopher and Luke not telling Lorelai about April? But especially Lorelai marrying Christopher.

Oh, and yes, @SarahDisney I was still excited about Hobby Lobby but it wasn't as awesome a trip as it should've been. I'll need a do-over trip this weekend for sure.
