The next morning started early...very early...
We had 7:30 breakfast reservations for Kona Café. Lee had his Tonga Toast while Bonny had the Eggs Your Way. Lee also ordered the kona coffee in the press pot but the waitress brought him the house blend. He was less than pleased but was nice about it and eventually got his press pot. If youre thinking of trying it, Lee highly recommends it!!
(The camera was too tired to focus)
After breakfast we headed over to the Animal Kingdom. We just strolled around and enjoyed the park this time. No rush to do anything specific. We took a few pics along the way:
We eventually made our way to Africa. We grabbed fastpasses for the Kilimanjaro Safari then took a stroll through the Pangani Trail while we were waiting but we didnt take many pictures...just enjoyed ourselves.
As we exited the Trail we watched this CM playing his xylophone and interacting with the kids. It was very apparent he was having a ball as were the families standing around watching. In every trip there is one moment that just perfectly captures everything we feel Disney is about. This was it...
Next, our return time for the safari beckoned. We headed back and within a few minutes our truck was arriving:
We always have problems getting good photos on the safari with all the bumping and jostling but we did manage to get these pictures:
We did like the changes they made to the storyline to make it a little less hokey. Every time they asked everyone if they wanted to go afer the poachers Lee always had to bite his tongue to keep from blurting out "Well use our cheaply made souveniers as clubs!"
After the Safari we watched the musicians and dancers for a bit. There was one little girl who was about 2 that was absolutely fascinated with them. Shed keep leaving her family and walking right up to them and would just stare open-mouthed at them. When they picked guests to join them in dancing of course she was one. They tried to get Lee to be another but he wouldnt due to the fact there were no defibrillators in sight.
Afterwards we headed over to catch the train to Rafikis Planet Watch...
We always enjoy this train ride where you get to see some behind the scenes things such as the night-time enclosures for the animals. We finally arrive at our destination and the giant fibreglass monkey tells us were at the right place!
We didnt spend a lot of time here. Just took a stroll around and took a quick peek at everything. Of course we had to return to the scene of Lees mugging in May (see our May TR for further details if youre a newcomer to our misadventures). Lee had to make a quick pitstop before we hopped the train back. While she was waiting, Bonny noticed this hidden Mickey in a mural:
After we got back to the park, we decided to head for the exit and call it a day. We made our way back to the hotel and decided to take a quick nap. The quick nap ended up lasting all afternoon and when we got up we really didnt feel like going anywhere else so we just ordered a pizza from the hotel bar and spent the rest of the evening relaxing at the hotel.
