Marching Along We're Adventurers ... FINAL UPDATE - Jan 20 Posts #108, 109, 110

We started the next day with breakfast at the hotel. Our friend Pat had flown in the night before so she joined us for the day at Universal Studios. She had never been so we spent the day essentially repeating our favourites, starting with Shrek 4D.

We ended up spending the day doing most of the rides in the park, with the exception of ROTM. We had tried it a few years back and didn’t care for it and Pat had tried it at Universal Hollywood back in May and wasn’t that thrilled with it either.

We stopped for lunch at Monsters Café. Bonny’s ankle was giving her a lot of problems and her runners were back in the car so after a quick bite Lee was taking the hike back to the car to fetch them.

After lunch we decided to go do some shopping and picture taking. We have posted a lot of Universal pictures over our past few Trip Reports so this installment we’re going to post pics of something that was new this trip...the Simpsons!!

When we went in May, this is what the walls around the new Simpsons ride looked like:

As you can see, they’ve done quite a bit with the wall in 4 months:

Perhaps the biggest difference was the souvenier shop. When we were there in May it still had the Back to the Future theming and merchandise. This is what it looked like 4 months later:

Of course, all the merchandise inside was now Simpsons themed and we couldn’t help but get a chuckle out of the signs inside:

After we had shot our pictures we decided to head to the Universal Store. We were all walking along when suddenly Lee bolted like a 5 year old seeing Santa Claus. It quickly became apparent what he saw and as it turned out, that analogy wasn’t too far off:

After we got our picture with Homer & Marge the TM with the characters told the other people in line that Bart & Lisa would be coming out in 5 minutes as replacements. We just went to the back of the line then when Bart & Lisa came out, we were first in line:

After we did some shopping Lee headed back to the car to drop the bags off while the ladies sat in Monsters Café and had a cool drink. When Lee got back we all just sat and rested for a bit until it was time for us to leave and head over to the Stay & Scream area for HHN.

Until our next installment...

Great update - love the Simpsons pics! Cannot WAIT to hear about Stay and Scream! Is it wrong to be dying for October to get here already (pun intended)?

Loved your updates, as usual. The pictures are wonderful. Did I read right that you are going again this month? Do you need help carrying your luggage?

Thanks for the compliments...yes you read right we are heading back on the 21st. Less than 3 weeks...yay!! :yay: It'll be a much shorter trip with us flying back on the 29th. We're really looking forward to staying at POP again.

Sure we can always use a sherpa to lug our bags around! :lmao:

Glad you liked the update!

At this point in the TR we've already done the Stay & Scream twice...nothing really different about it this time. :confused3

October will come before you know it...we're already looking at flights :thumbsup2

Great report, been back a few weeks and I am really missing those Scallops from Raglan.
Amazing pictures, can I fly west and get you to teach me how to use my damn camera?

Your fellow Canuck,
Chris.

just found your trip report tonight and I'm really enjoying it! I like seeing the pictures from all the haunted houses.

Thanks for joining our TR Chris! Glad you're enjoying it so far.

Lee used to work in Oshawa...small world :thumbsup2

As always I love those reports. :thumbsup2 I still remember Lee's reaction with Homer and Marge. I think Bonny and I had to run to keep up with him. :dance3: Looking forward to this trip coming up. Oh and I wish it could be October too as I'm so looking forward to another HHN. This was my first one and I enjoyed it very much. Bonny and Lee were great hosts.:cool2:

We eventually were herded into the Stay& Scream area where the long wait began. It wouldn’t have been so bad had there been benches or some shade. Finally the time came for us to get in line for the NOES house. We got through it pretty quickly and enjoyed it, despite being blind for most of it! After it got dark, we snapped this pic of the animatronic musician that was on the edge of the midway section of the Stay & Scream pen:

As on the previous occasions, by the time we got through NOES the streets had been opened up and we made our way down to Friday the 13th. We took a quick zip through it and absolutely loved it. We then headed back to TCM and did that one.

We headed over for the first showing of the Bill & Ted show. They don’t allow any photography during the show but we did get this one afterwards:

We didn’t have express passes that night but did for the upcoming Thursday so we didn’t really focus on the houses after that, but rather just walked around and enjoyed the atmosphere.

We took a few more pics around the park:

We also took in the Carnival of Carnage show. We staked out our spots over ½ hr before the show so we were able to get a good spot for pics:

After wandering around for a little while longer we decided to head out and took a few more pics as we left the park and headed to City Walk:

Bonny wore her crocs the whole day and evening our first day in Orlando (over 12 hours) which we think did something to her ankle as it was very tender and sore for almost the entire 2 weeks we were there. We tried not to let it put a damper on our vacation and did a number of things to minimize the pain, including the ankle brace you see in that picture.

Next year we aren't planning on being in Orlando for the full two weeks, but as of right are planning to be there over the Columbus day weekend. We'd love to get together with you again as well.

how is bonny's ankle now?

and a big woo hoo and hoping we can connect there in october!

sweet sleep all.
time for bed for me

Oh I'm going back to Orlando at the same time as Bonny & Lee, LoveDopey. Since we live about a 15 minutes drive from each other I will probably see them at the airport. My flight leave 2 hours before theirs.

I must appoligize to Bonny and Lee for always being in the camera way when they take pictures. I seem to be making cameos on some.
