Pros and cons between March 3-10 and May 5-12 for our first trip? (2026 btw — Easter is April 5 I think).

Weather? Crowds? Refurbishments?

Will be me, my 2 daughters & my granddaughter on the trip.

If we go with the March dates, my granddaughter will be under 2 — if we go with the May dates, she’ll already be 2 & therefore need her own airline seat / ticket. But if we bring her car seat, that will certainly help with transportation from the airport to the hotel etc. 🙂

My youngest daughter loves to swim so I want to make sure she would be able to swim in March? We are planning on staying at the Candy Cane and they have a heated pool.

We are from the East Coast and have never been to California. 🙂

May is my favorite month to travel, for both weather and crowds. I don't know if this is exactly accurate, but in general, I think of the whole month of March as Spring Break season, which I always try to avoid. You should have warmer pool weather in May. Hard to say about refurbs...they can be scheduled for any month. So my vote is May. But either way, enjoy your first trip to California! Are you doing anything else besides Disney while you are here?

May. That way you can almost guarantee warm, sunny weather for swimming. Coming to your first trip to SoCal without warm and sunny weather would be so sad! (The pool may be heated at the hotel, but you still gotta get in and out...) Also, nights in May won't be nearly as chilly as early March.

I would anticipate refurbs for both time periods. Disney uses mid-Jan through Spring to prep for Summer season which kicks off Memorial weekend.

Thank you both! Hoping to also go to Universal Hollywood too. We have annual passes to the Florida one and look forward to seeing something different! :)

This is the calendar of events for 2025. Disneyland's 70th is supposed to run until "Summer 2026." If you visited in March, you would get to experience both Disneyland's 70th as well as Food & Wine.

For reference, this was 2024. Pixar Fest wasn't all that successful, but they are bringing the Better Together Pixar parade back for Disneyland's 70th.
