March vs June?

In the early stages of thinking about a trip to Disneyland resort. My oldest will be starting middle school so we will no longer be able to travel during the school year when we prefer to go. So... we are left with spring break or summer, preferably mid June if we did do summer.

What is better in terms of crowds? I know both will be crowded, but is one preferable? Spring break for us is always mid March(second week), and if we did spring break it would be a year that Easter is in April. We have school and then dance recital early June, so the soonest we could go in summer would be second week in June (when many grad nights are scheduled). Do grad nights greatly impact crowds? We go back to school mid August, and summer is hectic so there arent a lot of other possiblities.

Which would you choose... mid March or mid June?

Your schools sound like our schools as far as vacation times go.

So you think it would be the 2nd week of June? Grad Nights usually have local kids there for a night. It should not impact your crowd levels. Also, if you go before the 20th your crowds will be less than they will be when summer 'officially' starts. If you go later in June then you need to be concerned about temperatures going up, crowd levels going up and later in June you get into 4th of July crowds.

We usually go over Spring Break and used to go in June. We have quit doing that because while Spring Break is more crowded it is also considered busy, so they keep the parks open later, and because of this you will have more shows and parades. If your Spring Break is the 2nd week of March that is actually early so your crowds will not be as heavy as they will be for us, because ours is now two weeks and is the last week of March and first week of April.

I guess I am trying to tell you that Spring Break would be better, but ultimately it is your decision. I will be interested in seeing what others think.

I really don't have any prior advice but we are planning our first DL trip for
July 6th-13th & hoping for the best. Our DS (also in middle school) gets out of school for summer around June 8th but I want to make sure we have longer hours & all the shows for summer so we are going for July. We usually take our WDW FL. vacation as early in June because of the FL. weather but I have been told Cali. weather has better summer weather over all. Here is hoping for a great summer vacation:goodvibes

In California you have humidity, but in Florida you have more than just humidity. Summers there are miserable. In California I have noticed they can also be quite miserable and we have been to Disneyland on many the 90-100 degree weather days. Just know that that is not the norm but the exception for all of our trips, so, while not being a meteorologist, I have to say that yes, your weather will be milder at Disneyland than it is at WDW.
