We have a trip to the World in March, staying a week in the Animal Kingdom DVC with points bought from Davids.

Animal Kingdom DVC
7 day tickets with Water Park Option, not Park Hopper
Memory Maker.

All is bought and paid for. Then the problems arise.

Trip has to be cut short due to kids activities, so we are unable to use the room Thursday or Friday night, it will sit empty. David's will not issue a refund or credit which I can understand but if anybody has something I can try, it would be appreciated.

Tickets-since we will only be there 4 days, the Water Park day will not fit anymore. Disney has brought out the 4 day ticket for $280 each and instead of wasting 3 days of a ticket, I contemplated buying these 4 day tickets and saving those 7 day with Water Park for another trip, or should/could I buy the 13 month annual pass?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The annual pass only makes sense if you plan on returning enough within the 13 month window to make that option cheaper. Since you are already staying less days than originally planned, and haven't indicated the dates of future trips, I would say no on the AP.

I do agree with buying a different ticket for your trip in March. Keep in mind that the $280 deal is a four PARK ticket, not a four DAY ticket, meaning you can only visit each park once over the four days. Even if you buy a new regular 4 day ticket, that is probably a better choice so you can save you 7 day ticket for a trip when you can use all 7 days. Of course, it sucks to have pay the extra cash for new tickets.

We can never predict what life schedules will be, but considering the Pandora, and Star Wars and other new attractions, my thinking is there will be many opportunities to make a return trip to make the AP worth the price. If I add $1120($280x4) to my initial investment, it almost is the same as AP for 4 but I would now have the MM included, and Park Hopper added, and if my initial use of my AP would be March 8, 2017 we would have until April 7, 2018 to use the AP? Would Disney refund my Water Park option and MM purchased or is that already money spent?

Thanks

You would get the credit for the original ticket you bought (which would include the water park add on cost) when you upgrade but the 13 month promo ends at the beginning of January and you have to upgrade tickets in person so if you upgrade to an AP in march you will get 12 months not 13 (unless they have extended the promo and I am not aware). As for memory maker I'm not sure if they would issue you a refund but you could always ask at guest services (I would go there to try to upgrade and see if they can credit memory maker since photo pass is included in the AP price)

In terms of the AP, you really have two options:

1) Upgrade your current 7-day tickets when you arrive, but you will only get 12 months because 13 month promo ends in January

2) Outright buy AP's now to get the 13 months and save the 7-day tickets for another trip or to apply to an AP renewal the following year

As far as the empty room nights, there is nothing else to try. You signed a contract which is between you and David's and stated there were no refunds or cancellations.
The best you could possibly do (?) would be gift those 2 nights to someone to use. I am not sure if that would be allowed
Good Luck

I would save the 7 day with wp&m cor a future trip and buy the 4 day tickets for this trip. Those will be good for any future trip, doesn't need to be the next one.

OR

Keep the trip as is and the kids miss their activities that weekend (assuming its like a regular dance class for ex and not a competition).

ETA: I don't think that gifting the nights would be a good idea because the reservation would still need to be under your name which means they'd need your magic bands so that could be a host of problems because a) you'd need to make sure to deactivate any charging which may raise eyebrows and b) you'd be responsible for any potential damage to the room.

My first thought is while you have to cut your trip short, is shifting your trip a couple days earlier an option that davids might allow?

My second thought is you bought too many days on your tickets to start with. It's confusing but you have 7 park days and 7 waterpark (or other) days on those tickets. if you planned to do 5 park days and 2 waterparks, a 5 day ticket would have worked.

I assume the tickets came from disney? I never assume disney would not adjust or refund even if the terms say they will and get on the phone. they are understanding and while the answer might be no, they might say yes to getting some money back now and switch to the new ticket offering.

The rest of advise is good if disney wouldn't refund however keep in mind, 2 5 day trips costs more for tickets and the AP would have costed. 1 10 day trip would not save money going with an AP. Also are you looking at waterpark APS as they would cost more and you might find it cheaper to just buy waterpark tickets if your only planning 1 day at the waterpark over the course of your trips.
