Hey everyone I just returned yesterday from my couple day DL/DCA excursion and had a great time. I'm looking at going up on my birthday which is March 12th so I can get my first birthday button and I noticed that a lot of the hotels are filled that day. I'm guessing a convention or something? Does anyone know?

I just saw the 2016 event thread and saw that there is an expo at the Anaheim convention center. I'm guessing that would be the reason for the full hotels.

Natural Products Expo at the convention center. A lot of hotels are either booked or have increased rates that weekend.

That is the time that I will be there too (for my birthday as well -15th) and many of the hotels have been full for some time. Otherwise hotels that are normally a reasonable price are very expensive. Makes my cheap flight from Australia not so cheap when adding the accommodation. The expo seems to be very popular.

Is there any cheerleading competitions around that time? When I went there 3 years ago around that time, there was a big cheer competition.

The cheer competition that weekend has been moved to LA this year, so it might have less of an impact. However, there is cheer comp in Anaheim the following weekend.

Here's a link to the 2016 Calendar of Events and School Breaks thread. I try to add things as I hear about them. So far, as others have noted, the Natural Product Expo is occurring that weekend at the Anaheim Convention Center and it's a huge convention. The All Star Cheer Championships have moved to the LA Convention Center, but I would expect that some attendees will add days (either before or after) to visit DLR. There are a few school districts (mostly in Arizona) that seem to have the week off as well.

Yep, It's our Spring Break (March 12-20th) and we are at a charter school in Peoria, AZ (Suburb of PHX). There will be lots of 'zonies at DLR from about Mid-March through Easter. We still have an amazing time each and every trip regardless of a "10" or a "2" crowd prediction by getting there at rope drop and taking advantage of the EMH each day. We eat a late breakfast after the first few "golden hours" of rides and key attractions and watch the crowds funnel in. We will take a break back at the pool 1 or 2 afternoons depending on weather and crowds. We can't wait until our next visit...
