So I am driving down,,,but wife and kids are flying. Are we at the lowest price points now?, or with your experience do prices drop before xmas?
wondering when to pull the plug this year.

I broke my cardinal rule and looked at flights for our trip even though I've already booked them ... mistake on my part but it might help you. Not sure when March break is this year and how flexible you can or can't be but the price when I booked was hovering around the 1,100 mark all in. Today I can get WestJet for 603 TOTAL, and air canada is about 700 . WestJet sent a code for 20% off all fares and has several midweek "cheapie" flights , try it out - 8K7Z3SA

Unfortunalty not too flex due to wifes schedule.....and since she wants to fly yyz to mco and not the smaller airports right now looking at approx 3500-4000,,,for 2,,,,gulp...even with the code you gave,,,thanks.
I will keep looking

I am really not sure about when to buy for March Break. We have only travelled at that time of year a few times and it wasn't to MCO.
BUT-I have been tracking some Jan flights on Google Flights and I have seen them drop in the last couple of days.
Maybe pick the one or two days you need to leave and track the route (if you have not done so already)
Google will notify you when the price goes up or down.

I must say, that seems extra steep, even for March Break

oh im tracking...lol...yes very steep,,,,but have been looking at all the airlines,,flair, swoop,,etc,,flying to Tampa and driving from there since I will be there. But I will keep looking and open to 1 way tickets as well. Not sure if they are high right now since they are anticiapting everyone wanting to go this March break,,,we will see. Hotels book, park ticket book and bought,,,so might just bite the bullet.
Good luck to all

In my past experience as both a traveller and an airline worker, prices will only go one way for Ontario March break trips, and that is up. DW is a teacher - March break is always when we head south.

Airlines use yield management software to adjust pricing over time. For Ontario break any trip from a local airport to a vacation destination will fill quickly so prices will never drop, only rise as the computers realize what people are willing to pay. Living in Ottawa, we have had better luck flying from Montreal (different break dates) or through an intermediary airport (Cabo San Lucas via Calgary) to get on flights with (somewhat) lower demand.

You have the right idea driving. It's probably been 4 years since we have flown south, and there have been at least 6 drives to Florida or the Carolinas for us. Painless and a MUCH less expensive option at the break. Although be prepared for some potential weather. We missed most of the bombogenesis storm last March through planning and making an earlier than planned start, but still managed to catch enough of it to do this:

Dang March Break has always been a difficult time to find anything fairly reasonable.
I used to try booking a few days before or a few days after ,,, but it seems the airlines have figured this out now.
One year I was able to get my Granddaughter and I reasonable flights out of Hamilton.

I just looked to see what we paid (back in June) vs what the flights are now, out of Detroit, and a few day before the actual March break - it's $300 more expensive now. Our rental is also almost completely filled up too (Windsor Hills), and most of my friends are planning on travelling with their families so I think prices will only go up because they know people want to get away this March break.

I agree with you @Hopeful8
My daughter goes to school in the United States and her university also has their march break the same time that Ontario does. It’s usually a little bit earlier but their whole school year is pushed back a bit so it lines up exactly with our Ontario one. I feel like this might be true for a lot of US universities and colleges and it’s gonna be a busy march break everywhere
