March 7th Fast Pass Experiences

All the explanations and misunderstandings of wait times/lines/scenarios is enough to make me giggle, cry, fall asleep!!!!

If only someone here could accurately explain queue theory... sadly i did not pay close enough attention in college. Maybe the Ridemax peeps can briefly explain their algorithms so we can get back to the point:

What are people experiencing in the park with the enforced return times???

Sadly, we have probably scared them all off :scared: I got hives just typing queue theory!

I plan on carrying a stopwatch to make sure we are always 14 minutes after our printed window. Just for spite. :)

Until they spitefully refuse you entry onto the ride and then what:confused3 Are you going to throw an epic lawn tantrum because you purposelessly refused to follow directions:confused3

They're probably thinking what good is there to post that the passes are being enforced if people are just going to do what they want regardless:confused3

He's clearly joking. And even if that wasn't true, why would you assume he would throw a tantrum if refused entry?

You just answered my previous question.

One thing I don't understand... how are people going to do whatever they want regardless if Disney is enforcing the policy and not letting them? And why do you assume they would do so in the first place?

The FP enforcement is being reported both by USA today and Fox News. Here is a link to the USA today article

but what I found most interesting was a comment posted by Len Testa (of touringplans.com). Scroll down to the bottom of the article to find the comments. I consider him to be a reliable source when it comes to predicting wait times, since his experience is based in math and algorithms, and not hearsay or perception.

Here is what he wrote:

"I don't see how enforcing FASTPASS return times will result in shorter lines, as Ian says. For example, morning guests can no longer "bank" the savings they get from obtaining FASTPASSes early and riding late; they have to return and ride during the morning. As a result, there's less time for visiting other attractions in the morning, when lines are low. Every simulation I've run says guests will experience an increase of at least 4 minutes over the course of a day, and the average is somewhere between 15 and 30."

I've also been checking twitter, and there isn't a lot of reports back on what is happening with FP in the parks today. I am a little disappointed, I was hoping for more news.

This is very interesting! I wonder if his comments were relating to people who use fastpass or all guest regardless of fastpass use.

I imagine we won't get too many reports until they decide to actually enforce the enforcement. As long as they continue to allow late entry with a warning we probably won't hear much.

I'm not surprised that there hasn't been a lot of feedback yet. It's only been a few days & the large majority of guests always used their FP in the window provided. Those people will not notice a difference. Of those who did use them late, there will be many who won't want to risk it & will return in the window provided. It will take a while for enough people who are willing to risk losing their FP to report back to get a true feel for how it's being enforced.

Just as a note, we are in the parks and were turned away for using our FPs past the window. We were unaware of a change in the policy. The CMs politely explained the new policy. At Toy Story, with a 110 minute wait, she was very nice gave us a 'one time' pass but a reminder. Not knowing the enforcement of the existing policy, we assumed it was just for the super popular toy story ride. So we tried again at Star Tours and were refused. We then caught on and went in the regular line.

So, that's our experience yesterday. We will adhere to the windows today.
