March 5th anyone else?????

Cruise4ever - Dont worry too much about booking Palo! Our daughter works there and there are ALWAYS cancellations during the week. Ask to be put on the cancellation list, and be prepared to go at short notice. We have been on the Magic 4 times already, and have always managed to get into Palo ( and daughter wasnt working there then!)Look forward to meeting you! Nat and Dave

Hello out there:

Been lurking on this thread a short time, can't hold back the excitement!!!

DW (Drise) booked 14 months ago, locked into cat 9 connecting rooms, we have 15 going on this magical journey (don't know how to fit them all, LOL).

To answer one question, the following ships are scheduled in port on the same days. USVI has not posted whether Magic will port or tender, probably won't have that info till the 2nd of March.

St Thomas:
Ship Date Arrive Depart
1. Royal Caribbean Mariner Of The Seas 3/9/2005 07:00AM 06:00PM
2. Radisson Seven Seas Radisson Diamond 3/9/2005 07:00AM 06:00PM
3. Princess Cruises Star Princess 3/9/2005 08:00AM 06:00PM
4. Holland America Line Zaandam 3/9/2005 07:00AM 06:00PM
5. Disney Cruise Line Disney Magic 3/9/2005 08:00AM 04:30PM
6. Costa Cruise Lines Costa Atlantica 3/9/2005 07:30AM 05:00PM

St. Martin:

1. Disney Cruise Line Disney Magic 3/8/2005 08:00AM 07:00PM
2. Radisson Seven Seas Radisson Diamond 3/8/2005 08:00AM 06:00PM

Got the snorkle fins today, jellyfish wipes and now we're set. Got the docs Mon of last week, no upgrade. Didn't expect it with connecting rooms. Looking forward to getting out of Philly with snow expected tomorrow. Told DS that we are getting snow now, and will be in air conditioning in 2 weeks.

BTW, DS6 said not to expect any Micky bars for anyone else, he intends to eat every one on the ship. Got the door signs all ready. Perhaps we could PM someone to get a list of who is going on the trip and cabin numbers and coordinate a DIS meet either Sat afternoon just after the sail away, or more likely on Sun morning sometime near 10:00 am.

I'm up for a meet anytime, although I agree Sunday mid-morning would be good, rather than adding to the rushing around on departure day. Anyone out there experienced at organizing these things? I still have to book excursions, so I'm nowhere near as organized as I should be!

I would like to meet also but i think our character breakfast will/could be sunday morning. Am i wrong about this?

Just jumping on this thread as we are on this cruise also! Myself, DH, DD12 & DGD7. We are arriving early Friday morning (redeye out of Seattle). I booked a room in the airport area so we could get to bed as soon as we land. Planning on maybe going to Ohana's for dinner that night and driving to the port on Sat. morning.

We aren't planning any formal excursions except DD12 & I have a horseback ride on the beach planned for St. Martin. Then to the butterfly farm for an hour and then Orient beach.

We are going to just have a beach day on St. Thomas. So far, planning on going to Magan's.

Just decided that since it's first cruise for DGD that we didn't want to be locked in to anything. Just hoping to go with the flow and have some relaxing time!!

FYI....called DCL to find out what movies are playing on the March 5th cruise...according to them it's:

Around the World in 80 days
Ladder 49
Incredibles
Mr. 3000
National Treasure
Princess Diaries 2

I called b/c we were planning to take ds(5) to see the new Pooh movie and figured if they were showing it on the cruise I'd save a couple of bucks??? She didn't mention it and I got another call and I forgot to ask. Saw another thread and someone saw it on their cruise last week?

Oh well I haven't seen most of them anyways!!!

Started packing!!!!!!!!! Found the little one's summer clothes and of course half don't fit...we had to have him try each one! He kept on asking why am I doing this??? He is going to be so excited when he sees the ship!

Got to go!

I hope pooh is playing, we havn't been going to see that for the same reason,I had seen on a previous thread that someone saw it there. I doubt that it would only be playing for a couple of weeks so I'm guessing it has to be there.

I hope it is as of that list there's only 1 other I would take our son(5) and daughter(3) to.

We are looking forward to seeing "Pacifier" on-board. It opens on the 4th of March and it is Disney, so I hope it is on-board.

Just wanted to wish you all a very safe journey on your way to the Magic: we will be leaving very soon, as we join the ship on Saturday for our 2 week back-to-back. We may not know details of the "meet" before we leave home, so keep an eye out for us "Brits". Hopefully by then, we will be sporting a tan!Best wishes to all. See you very soon. Happy sailings. Nat and Dave

Hi there! I am also on the March 5th sail date. Coming out of St. Louis. I've been reading the threads and thought I may as well say hello!

I got our documents about 2 weeks ago. I also didn't get an room upgrade (we were cat8) BUT..... when I called for some room details I was told over the phone we were upgraded to a cat4!!! I guess that happened after the documents arrived.

Anyone else a single parent? Its been a tradition for the last 3 years that my husband and I go to Disney with my parents and take our daughter (who is 5 this year.) Unfortunately, the husband had a mid life crisis and we got divorced this fall. So now its just me, my 5 year old and my parents. From what I understand, the kids spend most of their time at activities. I'm worried I'll be a lone alot!

Hi carl021, I am a single mom too- my DH passed away suddenly three years ago and he was the total Disney addict, we carry his memory with us as we enjoy the magic!
This is our second cruise (paul(DH) was with us on the last one!) and we are travelling with another family. There are four kids with us, my 2 DD 11 and 14, a family friend who is 14, and a 12 year old DD with the other family.
You will never feel alone unless you want to be- our kids LOVE the clubs, but check the navigator daily and you'll find lots to do.

To everyone.....

I'd like to meet with the other DISer's on this thread- Sunday morning seems more sensible since we will be rushing around on Sat. getting ressies and dancing away on the Sailaway party!
Sunday sounds good- anyone want to pick a place or time????? :cool1:

WE ARE SOOOOOOO CLOSE!
Judy

Since no one is taking the bait, might as well do it myself.

I suggest that a DIS meet be held on Deck 10 on Saturday at 3:00pm near the Mickey Pool (since that where some of the kids might be). Strictly a meet and greet (plus a few foo foo drinks is applicable). Get your lime green Mickey Heads at Home Depot or some other tag to identify yourself (and your DIS name).

Alternative meet could be on Sunday at 11:00 also on Deck 10 near the pool. There might be some activities going on then that you might miss, or in turn send someone there.

By my count there are 17 DIS'rs on the Boat, the list is as follows:

[*]Mickeyworld
[*]Kcarl021
[*]Natdencro
[*]Zacsmom
[*]Lazarru
[*]Mommyz
[*]Jdm
[*]Peanutgirl
[*]Zeldacruiser
[*]Drise (Me)
[*]Carol88
[*]Footnotegirl
[*]Cruise4ever
[*]Disneyboard
[*]Profjenn
[*]Pncped
[*]Jule T

Anyone else feel free to add on.

If you want you can PM me and I'll be glad to prepare a name list that has the family, kids and cabin numbers if desired, and bring copies to the meet.

Also try to do your door signs, bring any magnet to attach them to the doors.

Expecting 10" of snow today so can't wait for the warm weather.

HI, I'm running really behind so I haven't had time to surf this discussion. I'm joining in late. I'm a single mom with a 4 year old son and a 7(8 on 3/12) daughter. I would also be interested in meeting some of the other single parents. Also, I was considering Palo and didn't know if they would even allow a reservation for one. I would enjoy doing any or all of the Palo brunch, tea or dinner. Hopefully someone is more organized than me and will have time to read this before we leave. Lots of snow here too, can't wait for warm weather.

Kim

drise,

Thanks for putting some things together. It is nice to see that someone else is either a little organized or has too much time on their hands. I have been checking around and making a list also, and I found some extra names. They are : happycruiser, lizardbeth61, hokies and keaton.

By now, my son thinks I am totally nuts because I have made door signs, business cards and the green mickey heads. Wait till we get there and he sees the bubbles, glow sticks and mickey hands.

I checked a Navigator, and am unsure if I will make 3:00 at the pool. We are coming down the day before and plan on spending some of Saturday at the beach. We also have the REAS package, so I am not in a huge rush because my ressies are done. I know that I want some shrimp at lunch though, so we have to get there by 2:00. If I don't catch you at the pool Saturday at 3:00, I will see you at the meet on Sunday. Maybe you can get a note to natdencro, look for the tan people, because they are already on the ship.

Well, I gotta go. I still have tons of things to do but yet have to make it look like I am doing my job here. See you Saturday!

Seems like only the day before yesterday that we were sunning ourselves on Castaway Cay - oh, wait, it WAS the day before yesterday! Actually, the limited sun on Castaway Cay was a bummer, but I would feel bad for complaining after every other day being so sunny and beautiful - what a cruise! Sorry we didn't make it to the meet, but we were among the unfortunates stuck in the parking lot during the bomb scare.

Well, we sure had an adventure that I can say.

SAT - We ended up on the bus for 3 hours because of the whole bomb thing and by the time we got to our room and got in about 20 minutes of swimming time, my 5 year old fell dead asleep and I missed the first night's show and dinner! :sad1: Our luggage didn't make it to the stateroom until almost 9:30, and our shore excursion tickets NEVER showed up. I snuck out of the room to try to tour the ship a bit and to book Tea with Wendy, which was completely full by then. I ended up ordering room service and bucket of beer and hanging out watching TV in the room while my daugher slept.

SUN - My daughter woke up the next morning with a 103 degree fever! Thanks goodness we were upgraded to a Cat4 on Deck 8 because that was closest to the food and the beverage station and I was apparently going to spend more time in the room then I had planned. Around noon I finally got her up to try the pool and couldn't find a chair or anything :crowded: and then ended up slipping on the pool deck and really hurting my arm. My parents were with me so I took some time to myself on Deck 10 and spent about 20 minutes bawling my eyes out. I booked a facial in the spa and the gal there was so high pressure, trying to get me to buy all sorts of products that I simply hadn't budgeted for, it was really uncomfortable. :headache: I also booked a Cabana Massage for Castaway Cay, hoping my daughter would feel better by then. I missed the Golden Mickey Show because my daughter was asleep but I did get her up for Formal Night which was a complete disaster - I should have stayed in the room with her. Went back to the room by 9:30 and just went to bed. :guilty:

MON - Still 103 degree fever, but now she is complaining she wants to go to the kids area. I refused to take her until the fever was gone and all she did was mope and cry. I am sure she wasn't having any fun at all. I did get a chair at the pool and let her swim for a while. After a nap she was re-energized and even though I missed the Hercules show, we did get to go to Animators Palate and she seemed to enjoy that. Back to the room and asleep by 10:00.

TUE - we had a shore excursion in St. Maartens to Orient Beach. Fever down to 101. Day wasn't too bad, actually had a bit of fun on the beach until my father lost his glasses in the ocean, decided to take a walk down the beach, and ended up getting lost for 30 minutes, right at the time the buses were taking us back to the ship. We barely made the last bus - he was so lost! On the way back, our bus almost hit a goat and almost got involved in a head on collision with another vehicle. Of course by then we were all tired and crabby and didn't make any of the shopping. Went to the shore excursion desk and they were kind enough to cancel our shore excursion for St. Thomas. Considering I had a sick kid I wasn't going, even if I had to pay for it! But they let me cancel after a bit of pleading - I think they saw in my eyes I was about to lose it. They even gave me free Children's Motrin (which I used all of!) I took my daughter to see the Pooh movie and I did get to make the Pirates in the Carribean Dinner pirate: so I was happy. Still, in bed by 10:30.

WED - FEVER BROKE! :rotfl: Oh boy was I excited. Still had to get up and so that whole present ourselves to customs thing, but since we canceled our excursion, we didn't have to go until last thing. Since the fever broke, I finally let her go to the Kids Club for a bit and once she was there I could NOT get her to leave. I think so many days of sleeping brought out all of her energy and I know she was tired of mom by then. So we left her and went shopping in St. Thomas. Bought some nice diamonds- good trip! Went back to pick her up and she had no desire to leave - Goofy's sleepover was that night. I got to see the show finally and did make it to my dinner seating. FINALLY, a decent day! :teeth:

THU - we had the character breakfast in the morning and got out about 10:15ish. I decided to cancel my 11:00 Cabana Massage for the next day (too much money spent in St. Thomas!) and the gal in the spa wouldn't LET ME! Now granted, it was close, but it still WAS 24 hours notice. She said she would try to rebook it and if she could she wouldn't charge me but otherwise I needed to show up or be charged. She said she would call to let me know. I was pissed, I don't think I will ever go back to the spa again personally. Other than that, Thursday was pretty good - my daughter wanted to swim and we got a lot of that in, even though by then, some of the parents and kids were getting just plain cranky and tired. In fact, the parents were acting worse than the kids most of the time! I got to see the show that night and I did get to go to the Piano Bar and see the Comedian in the Rockin D Bar as well as do the 70's Dance Party. :rockband: That little Travis from South Africa was such a stitch! I ended up picking up my daughter from the kids area at about 12:30 and she was wide awake and having a blast! Best day of the cruise!

FRI - woke up early to get a good seat at Castaway Cay. Boy was it cold! :cold: Showed up for my Cabana Massage but they had booked someone during my time and neglected to inform me. :headache: Left the Island early, it was too cold and I didn't want to risk any more illness! My daughter did the Graduation thing from the Kids Club and of course, wouldn't leave afterwards. I ended up picking her up at 10:00 hoping to catch the farewell show in the atrium, but she was out cold.

I know I am missing some stuff here because I also got to see the Pacifier (which was AWFUL!), I lost my drivers license at some point and my mother lost her birth certificate, but who is keeping count anymore? :rotfl2:
All that being said - we booked another trip for next year! The lady who took care of our room knew my daughter was sick and bent over backwards to give her a great time, even though she barely left the room for days. She took really great care of me too, knowing I was going through hell with my daughter being so sick! Our servers in the dining room were so thoughtful and helpful and accomodating. The activites coordinators (Especially Travis :lovestruc) were always there helping to get you involved, and the counselors for the kids were amazing.

Next year we are doing the Western Side and I personally can't wait! My finacee and I are even considering getting married on the ship (he couldn't make it this year... :groom: :bride: ) Let's hope for no bomb scares, no fevers, and definitely, no spa appointments!

I'd love you hear your stories! :earsgirl:
