March 5, 2011 - Bushwacker Wild Wild Westerners

Checkin in and bumping us up!!:thumbsup2 Hope you all are having a great start to your summer!

We are probably going to book the March 5th cruise, as it occurs during Mardi Gras, and that's when we head to Disney. We haven't been on a Disney Cruise since 1998, so we are really looking forward to going - if it all works out. Working with Dreams Unlimited right now on quotes..

How many other Louisiana people plan on going (and no, I didn't read all 19 pages of this thread)..

Greetings from the ejkj family!!!!!
It has been SO LONG since I have posted I thought I would do so this morning and save us from page 4 ;)

Our summer like many I am sure has been going TOO fast... We still haven't started wheat harvest yet. We have been getting so much rain that the fields are muddy, so harvest this year I'm sure is going to be even more challenging then usually... UGH!!!! and to top it off 3 weeks ago Ron's 88 year old dad was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer as well as bone cancer through out his body. So this has been esp hard on Ron, his father lives right here in the same town as us, as do Ron's brother and sister..so we have been taking turns staying with him as he needs round the clock care. We will try to keep him in his home as long as we can. I don't know what it is with July and illnesses in our family...Ron's mom passed away 3 years ago in July and my father passed away a year ago this month all with cancer!

As some of you (facebook) know, the girls and I were in Chicago for a week..Emily earned the chance to take her FCCLA project to nationals to represent the state of Nebraska. So we were all quite excited and proud of her, and even more so excited/proud of her when she received a gold metal at nationals!!!!!
I have to tell you that this Country girl had quite a bit of anxiety jetting off to the city alone with 3 girls (Ron was not able to go)!!!! I kept hearing about all the shootings etc that was going on prior to our visit...but we did have SO much fun and never ever felt unsafe...infact we are ready to go back LOL, it really is a beautiful city ( at least the part we saw)

Our board has been a bit slow, which is the norm for the summer months with everyone so busy with ball games pool time etc etc....but with the end of summer comes the reality that our trip will be fast approaching!!!!!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Can't Wait!!!!!!

Hope everyone is having a great/fun summer...and to all our newest Bushwacker's :welcome: noladave...hope it works out that you can sail with us:)

:hug:brenda

Brenda,

We are so sorry to hear about Ron's Dad. Please tell Ron we are thinking of him and praying for his dad.

That was great about Emily. We are really only about 6 hours away from Chicago but have never been there. Heard it is really a great town to visit. Glad you had a great time and made it back home safely.

Hope you can get your wheat out of the fields soon. We have had quite a bit of rain in Missouri too. In fact, it has been pretty wet since last October. We had to replant some corn earlier this spring but Russell is thrilled that the rains haven't stopped this summer. Corn crop is looking good right now.

Kristin is home from Idaho for a month so we are busy with wedding planning! Booked the reception site and ordered her dress in March when she was home. This week, we booked the caterer, florist, and wedding cake. We are working on their "Save the Dates!" Will also do the folders for her invitations with a local printer printing the inserts after they get their engagement pictures taken. She found favors at Michael's that she liked. So things are moving right along.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their summer! It is going by way too quickly!!!!

How interesting...

We are about to book this cruise. Last time I cruised I remember several of you from the cruise meet we must all like this time of year. Names I remember, the Stories, Dave and Michael, Ejkjmom, Donna (Donmil273) (we were on an excursion together in St Croix, I have the little girl who took pictures of your feet). I've only read through the first page of this thread so hopefully there are more people I remember! Tinkerbellmom I remember you too but you bailed on us all as I believe you were moving! We live in the same state!

So anyway...

I'm Jennifer, I'll be traveling with my DH Ryan and our daughters Allyn (7) and Evelyn (3). This will be our 4th cruise with Disney, first Western. I am looking forward to meeting you all. Perhaps I'll recognize more names after I read past the first page of this thread!

Hi Jennifer! I definitely remember you and your family. Your DDs were so cute and so well behaved! Glad you are joining us again this cruise!!!!

Welcome aboad Jennifer!! It will be great to see you again!

I've been such a deliquent on this board - BAD BAD. Work is swamped, life is swamped, summer is SO BUSY! Hell - all year round is busy, who am I kidding.

Talk to you all soon... J

I'm caught up reading through this entire thread!

Has anyone started checking the clearance racks yet finding summer clothes for the trip? I will be heading to the mall this week to see what I can find for my girls in the next size up!

I'm really thinking about doing the Food & Wine Half Marathon at WDW in October.

Donna I won't be able to join you for the half, but do you run on the boat? I could use a running partner!

Hey all you crazy Bushwhacker Banditos!!!

I just looked at pricing for this cruise and I don't think it would be feasible for us right now. We are in the process of moving across the country, and I'm not sure what my work situation will be.

That said, the timing would be perfect, as that week is the kids' March break from school.

So everyone say a prayer that I win the 50 million dollar LottoMax draw tonight. :-)

Not totally ruling anything out just yet....

John

That would be great! I try to run on our days at sea but I have to warn you, I am a slow runner. I want to do the Castaway Cay 5K the next time too.

John--Here's hoping you and Joanne can join us!!!!

So how does this whole FE thing work?? We were thinking about participating, as it wasn't happening when we cruised in 1998. Since it will be Mardi Gras week, we will bring something related to Mardi Gras.

Do a lot of people participate in this??

John and Joanne - best of luck with the move!!! We'll be here if the cruise timing works out...you know where to find us!! :goodvibes

nolaDave: we've never done the FE thing. Maybe it would be fun b/c of Mardi Gras and it woudl be kind of special for the kids...

Has anyone else done it? Brenda - I feel like you did it once, but maybe I'm just making that up. (wouldn't be the first time my mind thought something that was totally and completely wrong!)

Anyway... We'd consider participating... as long as I don't have to make my own FE and it didn't take too much extra time, thought or $$ to do it. :goodvibes

Happy Tuesday.

Ciao for now.... Johnna

I don't want to push people into doing it, especially with the economy the way it is. However, I/we will participate if others choose to do it.

Thanks!

:welcome: Mickey7879! Wow! That is a long vacation! Wish I could stay in Florida that long!!!! Good to have you on board!

Welcome to All of our new family.... It will be fun... :cool1::cool1:
As far as the FE Lady Story... I do not think BJ has done it before. We did do a tote bag exchange for the kids, but did not do the whole FE thing...
I will be honest.. When we did the tote bags for the kids, I volunteered to run them around to everyone and that was a lot of work. So The Tink family will opt out. I already struggle with getting everything into the few bags we have at 50 lbs and under... :confused3

The EJKJ family checking in..........:upsidedow

Yes it has been awhile;) First I want to WELCOME our newest cruisers :flower3:

The month of July was just plain crazy busy... don't no where it went, but am glad it's over!!!:scared1:
I am sorry to say that we lost Ron's 88 year old Dad after his short battle with cancer, it of course was hard to see him go, but we are thankful that he did not have to suffer long, we were able to care for him at home with the help of Hospice, we all toke turns staying with him. He passed away 23 days after his diagnosis. it was crazy.
Now with school starting next Wed. we are hoping to get back into some kind of a normal routine if there is such a thing LOL!!!!!! The girls are even ready for school to start, if that tells you anything

Johnna...Ms Tinker is right, I have only done the gift bags, never the FE, and she was also right in the fact that it was time consuming both before the cruise as well as during...I think that FE would be a very fun/exciting thing to do for the kids, but beings how my kids are older I don't think that we will participate..but that doesn't mean that the rest of you can't do it, cuz like I said, I think it is/would be some more add excitement for the KIDS..maybe not so much for the adults though LOL!!!!

Hope all is well with everyone, Donna sorry to hear about Russ's sister, (Emily's facebook) tell him we are thinking about all of you

Hugs to all
Brenda:flower3:
