March 4, 2007 Wonder - Anyone Else?

O.K. how self-absorbed am I? I need help, I forgot my mom's birthday and do I ever feel guilty about this one. She lives in Illinois, I live in Idaho. How do I make something like this up?
Linda

Blame it on the cruise. Its all disney's fault.

On a serious note though, you still have Valentine's day to cover up for it.Send her a card or flowers.;)
I feel moms always understand. She'll still love you.

My mother in law's birthday is tommorrow.I better not forget that.

I just got off an hour and half phone call with my mom and dad. I think dad was more mad at us for forgetting and mom just dissapointed. But both were pleasant and we had a great conversation.

I was then planning on sending a nice flower arrangement on Valentine's Day. My brother's still haven't responded with email or phone call.

There's nothing worse than the "disappointed" look/talk from your parents, no matter how old you are. The only good thing is they always get over it. They have to, you're their child.

:cold: In other news, it finally stopped snowing. The Town of Redfield, approx 1hr from here ended up with a total of 141" of snow last week. But of course, it is not over. A NorEaster is rolling in tonight to dump 1-2ft on Central NY. As long as the plane can take off on March 3, that's all I really care about. At least the kids love the snow:banana:

My mom didn't seem too dissappointed, I think my guilt was worse. I talked to her and sent her flowers. She loved the flowers and with a storm hitting the midwest and her stuck inside, she told me it will really help. I just didn't realize the cat eats all flowers and plants, but she did find a place the cat hasn't figured how to get to yet.

I saw that another storm is supposed to be hitting (or may even have hit). Have schools been closed or businesses shut down, or does that area deal with this really well?

It is 15 days until we leave for our trip  I haven't even started packing, I am starting to panic. It is so much easier to pack ahead on a trip like this, where we are still wearing winter clothes and the trip will be summer stuff. I have even decided (this may be weird) that since our undies and socks are pretty worn out, I am going to buy us all new and take the old and then just throw it out and not even worry about bringing it back. My husband thinks I have officially lost my mind on this trip.

For those of you at the parks before the cruise, if you see 3 people in Boise State t-shirts and sweatshirts (we are the dream team that won the Fiesta Bowl - we will be in orange), that is us. Come up and introduce yourselves. My dad taught us that one, to always wear identifiable clothes and then you are easy to find if lost. He always wore an orange (Illinois University) cap and is tall, we never lost him. Of course, the bermuda shorts, black crew socks and rubber sandals made us want to lose him :sad2: Seriously, that is what he wore on vacation with a loud shirt, orange cap and a camera draped over him :sad2: He has so much confidence he didn't care what others thought of him and he always said vacation wasn't a fashion statement.

I am planning on dressing a little better, just an orange top, but regular jeans and shoes. And on the cruise, I will be more fashionable.

Well, I better be going. Gotta get the DD to school, me to personal training and then to the office. The bookkeeper has been sick for 2 days now, so I have to go into the office and neglect my cruise planning. I am telling you, work gets in the way of this vacationing.

So has everyone gotten their docs? This coming weekend I'm really going to get started on assembling trip stuff.

My daughter just got her postcard from a nice person on the "pay it forward" thread. Really a very cute idea. Now my daughter is starting to get excited. You know kids, time seems so long to them. Now that the trip is just over two weeks out she is getting into the spirit of things. :cheer2:

We had secretly made reservations for the Dolphin Encouter while in Nassau. We debated keeping it secret from our daughter until we got to Nassau, but decided that telling her now would let her enjoy the anticipation of it. So as her Valentine's present I wrapped up a box with a print out of the DE logo, a dolphin book and a waterproof camera. She opened it up and got to guess what it meant. She is very excited! Now I just hope this excursion is as good as everyone says it is. $350 ($85 x 4 people) is a lot for us to spend for one afternoon of entertainment, especially when I think our actual time with the dolphins is only about 15 minutes. I'm sure it will be fun and I'm hoping that at the very least we will get a good x-mas card photo out of the deal. (Probably just my daughter and a dolphin though 'cause I can't imagine getting a picture of me in a swim suit that I would want to send out to all of our family and friends!)

Snow Update (If anyone cares;) )

Sorry, I know your probably sick of the snow by now, but since we haven't gotten any to speak of, I think it is beautiful. I just told my mother, who got hit with the storm a day or two ago (midwest), that I would just love to be dumped on right now (not any later or we wouldn't get out for the trip), so I could have a couple of days stuck at home to clean and pack. With the bookkeeper being sick, I have had to go to the outside office everyday and it just threw off my regular schedule.

I still haven't gotte my docs.

You poor, poor people! You must be so sick and tired of shoveling. It will be a well deserved vacation.

We live in Minnesota, which everyone thinks is a snowy tundra. Well this year we didn't get our first snow until New Year's day and to date I doubt we've hade to shovel more than 5 times, never more than a few inches. (Not that I'm complaining, mind you!)

We have had the cold weather lately, so we haven't gotten off the hook entirely. One day last week I thought they might actually close the schools when the high for the day was 10 below, but no go. They haven't declared a "snow day" here in the Twin Cities since the 80's, so the poor kids around here have never had the joy of an unplanned day off of school. (Except for my kid when we pull her out of school to go on vacation!)

Hey, what are you gonna do???:confused3 That's life here. So much for Farmer's Almanac calling for a mild winter:rotfl:

Only good thing is, we have nowhere to go so we can stay home, crank up the fireplace and have a nice Valentines Dinner. (It is actually our 10yr Anniversary today)

Wow; you guys have been chatin away. I had to catch up on all the posts. I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one that has been buying and stashing things for the trip in a closet. LOL!! This vacation is seriously consuming me. I think the people at work are going to lock my office and duct tape my mouth if I continue to talk about it. I'm glad to see everyone is just as excited as we are about the pirate party. I had a Mickey pirate tee made for my son and a pirate outfit made for my daughter. I didn't really buy any pirate toys or anything since I knew they'd be handing out the bandanas. Target was sold out of all of the stuff from the dollar isle last week. I guess the word got out. pirate:

Is anyone going on the all day Atlantis/Aquarium excersion in Nassau?

We haven't received our tags and docs but I called last night and they said they were mailed on the 12th. We should have them soon. I was a little concerned about the luggage service (we are doing the land/sea) but my fears were put to rest by a regular traveler that answered my post. You can actually find the discussion from the main Disney World posts about transportation. Apparently the bar codes are scanned about five times total from Disney employees that are traveling in GPS tracked vehicles so they know where your luggage is at all times. I'm going to jump out of my anal retentive box and let them handle it for us this time. I just hope I don't regret it.

Anyway; I promise to keep in touch this time. 13 days and counting until we leave for Orlando. :yay:

Which thread is that luggage information on? I am very anal and also want to read up on it, so I am not worried about luggage the whole time.

12 days and counting for us :cheer2:

I just got a call from my AAA TA and my docs are in. She is going to review today and I will pick up tommorrow.

I know I keep talking about packing and I haven't done any packing yet. I have things staged, but haven't broken out the suitcases yet. With the broken toe, I can't stage in the basement guest room and with the business splitting and moving back into the house, the office that I have to stage and pack in is crammed full off office paperwork and I only have a path to my computer. I am afraid if I put a suitcase in here I may never get out

I have been so consumed by this that I haven't hardly gotten what I need done, done. If my husband (my business partner) knew how much I had been consumed by the trip and ignoring work, he would fire me (if he could):ssst:

I know I said before we weren't doing much for pirate night, but I just got too excited and now all of us (dd-8, dh and myself) have pirate costumes for that night. Oooooh, I am spending way too much money :rolleyes1 . Maybe I can sell the costumes as I get off the boat to the next crowd?

Happy anniversary, you newlyweds. We are going on 20 years.

Are you able to get rid of the kids or is a family anniversary?

Linda

Happy Valenyine's Day everyone.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY FRAZZLEDAD.

Got freezing rain here today so everyone's home.

No sight of my docs yet.Gotta call Costco and check it up with them. We love Costco but this is the only problem with them - getting hold of them on the phone.I called yesterday and the wait time was 10 min. so I just hung up.

Thanks Everyone!!! It's going to be a Family Anniversary... Just as well, they're very excited about this.

Linda, go to the main discussion page. You will find different catagories for discussions. Look for the one labeled "transportation". Once in there, look for messages regarding "Magic Express". This is where the questions I posted are located. If you still have trouble, email me and I'll see if I can cut/paste.

Frazzledad....Happy Anniversary! I hope you guys are able to get out and enjoy your evening:tinker: .

We were all home today following that freezing rain that is up in New Jersey by now. What a mess! At least I got a lot of things I've been putting off around the house done. I made a big pot of chili and let it sit on the stove all afternoon while I was working. Yum!

OH man, Chili....................YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

We had lobster tails and Venison Steaks(marinated a few days, of course). Couldn't have been a better dinner. Better than going out to dinner, imo. The kids even set our "Mom and Dad" only table.

Help me !!!!!

In the evening I was going through the Disney Cruise Guide and my husband had just finished his "work from home". I was as usual babbling something about the cruise. He picked up the guide and while going through it asks me,"are we going on a 3 day or a 4 day cruise?"
Should I be amused or angry?
Such a contrast -me and him on tihs.

Doodlesmommy,I just noticed you are from Baltimore ,Md. My in-laws live in Germantown and my brother in law is a doctor in Baltimore hospital.
In December he took us to Baltimore harbor and we just fell in love with the place.Plan to visit it often this summer. We regret that we had been going past it often and never visited it.
