March 3, 2007

Hello, All...

I'm grossly late in checking in here to see who all is going on the March 3 cruise. So glad to see so very many friendly people will be on board!

I'm Beth, from Oregon. Will be cruising with DH, DD8, DS7, DD5, DS0 and DS0 (yes, those last 2 are infant twins - 4 months old - yikes!).

We're also traveling with friends who have a DD11, as well as my parents. I see that there are a lot of girls in the 8-12 range and would love for the kids to have more friends on board.

We do have 2nd seating for dinner. West coasties - I see there are several of us!
Beth

Hi Beth. Welcome. :wave2: We too were latecomers to this group, but have been made to feel most welcome nonetheless! What a friendly bunch!

We are fellow West Coasties with late seating - which worked out very well for us last March. Guess that means my DD11 and DD8 can ooh and aah over your little ones while we have pre-dinner/post-early-show cocktails? :drinking1 DD 8 is particularly gaa-gaa for babies right now.

My DD11 (hypertigger) has been PM-ing other girls around her age - I'll have her send a message to your friend's DD11 tonite (via you) and maybe they can chat a bit online pre-cruise?

We won't be arriving in FL until late Friday nite - so we'll catch up with you at the 2:30 Promenade meet. -Ellen :moped:

Beth...I work in a teach in a town called Newburgh...same as your home town, just spelled differently...and of course a whole bunch of states in between!

Michelle

Michelle - are you in Newburgh, NY???? I went to college there - The Mount - Mt. St. Mary College... small world...

Looks like lots of good chances for the kids to make friends!

Ellen - you had me at cocktails. ;) That would be great to have your DD send a message through me to our friend's daughter. Is your DD8 also interested in sending messages ahead of time? My DD8 is shy in person (at first - it's a ruse :) ), but loves to send messages online to friends and family. Can she write your DD8? My DD8 and my friend's DD11 are the best of friends and SO excited about this cruise. I'm sure they'd love to share that excitement with anyone who will listen. ;)

Anyone have 5-7 yr old boys? My DS7 is in kindergarten. We adopted him at age 3.5 - he'd been sadly neglected in his 1st home and is small for his age and has some speech issues as a result, but is otherwise 100% 7 yr old boy. He's very outgoing and friendly and would LOVE to have a friend or two to hang out with in the kids' clubs. It's kind of a bummer for him that his older sister gets to have a friend come on the cruise and he doesn't.

Michelle - yay for Newberg/Newburgh-ites. I've been perusing cruise menus online... dining may be the thing I'm most looking forward to (people cooking for me for a week straight!)... and noticed there's some kind of dish named "Newburg" on the pirate night or something. Looks like it'll appeal to several of us. ;)

Well, babies are sleeping (at the same time - it's a miracle), so I must use my time wisely and try to pack a bit more.

Three more days 'til we board our plane! Hooray!

I have a DS5 (almost 6) who is in kindergarten also (and also a DD9, almost 10). He LOVED the club on our first cruise, and he'd be excited to meet other kids his age to hang out with. I hope we get to hook them up at the 2:30 meet on Saturday!

:rotfl2: You're totally going to fit in with this group!!! I'm looking forward to meeting you!!!

Our DS is 6.5 yrs. old in kindergarten, and the sweetest kid you can think of - I'm sure all our boys (Kim's too - and others?!) will get along just great.

Probably seafood or lobster newburgh - not sure where that "newburgh" comes from, but the dish is a creamy almost chowder-type dish with chunks of seafood and lobster as the main staple. Mmmmm...

3 more days to FLA...:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Johnna...yes..Newburgh, NY is where I teach...we live just a tad south from the Mount in New Windsor, NY. I have had several student teachers from the Mount! One of my good friend's son is on their swim team! Small world, huh...cue small world music....

Wow...the Grills meet is getting big..how many families are coming on Friday? Is there a keeper of the list for Grills? How big is that place...talk about a reservation!

I am jealous that we can not meet you all at Grills...and even more jealous that we can't start our vacation earlier!! My dream vacation would be week at WDW and week on DCL...my idea of heaven on earth!!!

Who is planning on re-booking while on board...I haven't even mentioned that to my husband yet!!!

Catch ya all later!

Hi Michelle,
I have sort of taken over the list for Grill's. I will have to check tonight when I get home from work, but I beleive we are around 24 people. :cool1:

What do you do with your passports when you and the family are swimming..you know..no one on the beach to watch your stuff?

Luggage transfer question...we are arriving MCO day of embarkation...Our disney info tells us to put the magic sticker tags on the luggage before we check it in at our originating airport and that representatives from the cruise will take care of it at MCO...finding them, putting them on the bus etc...SOOO my question is...do they ask for a luggage count or do the verify with you that they have your luggage? My newest worry is luggage getting lost in general and I am thinking I need to know that our luggage has arrived and is accounted for and arriving on the same bus to the port as I am...what has been your experiences? I know many of you are arriving prior to saturday and won't be experiencing this...but have any of you in the past?

Thanks
I am too excited to sleep
Michelle

We are arriving the day of as well...last time we did this we put our luggage tags on before we boarded at home and then they verified the number of bags when we arrived. So far 3 times using Magical Express and no luggage problems. Even if they don't make it to the same bus as you they will make it to the ship. They put the luggage straight in your rooms and you don't have to mess with them after you put them on the plane at home. Absolutely love this part!!! :cool1: It really makes me feel like I'm on vacation. No lugging big bags around. :rolleyes1

As for the passports I posted that question on the regular forum and here is the link. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1342881 The bottom line is that you just need your KTTW card and an ID to get back on board. Pretty much everyone said to leave the passport in the safe.

Hope this helps!

Johnna and mommykeg...

Thanks for the replies about your DS's. We'll have our DS at the 2:30 meet to meet your boys on Saturday. He'll be so excited to make friends.

Thanks, ejkjmom! I understand we'll get to meet you Friday night? So thrilled to have found you all in time.

Can anyone else believe that we are actually going to meet in real life this Friday and Saturday??!! I'm still having a hard time believing it!!! :grouphug:

Michelle: We had no problem w/our luggage last cruise. Warning tho... the bags did not all arrive at our door at once, so be patient, it may take a while for all bags to show up. Packing hint: pack some of everyone's stuff in each bag, so worst case scenario (if a bag does not make it) you have at least some clothes for everyone. -Ellen :moped: p.s. This is gonna be a BLAST!!!!

Sorry, Carolyn. I only have room in my cabin for one strange husband - my own. ;) Good to know you publicly email each other. My husband and I are known to IM each other in the same room if the kids are asleep; we joke that email has saved our marital communication. Hey - we take what we can get.

I'm so excited for the trip I actually couldn't fall asleep last night. That hasn't happened since well before the babies were born. Have you seen the commercial with the kids who are so excited to go to Disneyland that they're lying awake in bed? Then it flashes to the dad in bed saying to the mom that he can't sleep because he's too excited. I feel like that guy. This is ridiculous. I need my sleep!

beth

I totally agree with Roodles...only room for one strange husband...so sorry Caropooh..no vacancies here, I'm bringing one along myself:rotfl:

And I agree with Caropooh..it is hard to believe that in just a FEW days we will all be meeting...seems like we have been planning this for so long, and now we are almost there, so yes... it is hard to believe!!!!

Roodles...Yes... you do need your sleep!!!!! I can only imagine how little you get as it is..and speaking of sleep..I think I'm off to get some myself....

Talk to everyone tommorrow

Brenda:)
