A girl after my own heart. I've been looking forward to a martini flight ever since I read about it (and saw pictures) in Erica's 'Geeks on a Boat' trip report. This is definately my kind of study group. :drinking1

I guess we'll have to find a designated homework checker for the kids!

Since we have two members who have achieved great wisdom, ie, Marks DUncle and Caropooh's DM, why don't we nominate them to be the offical designated homework checker? All in favor :drinking1

I was wondering who our instructor/s would be!!!??? I'm kinda of a slow learner, so I probably will have to be given homework :thumbsup2

Speaking of :drinking1 is anyone planning on bringing anything from home? Last time, we brought twisted rasberry smirnoff and had a very enjoyable night on deck 4 with our bottles and nice chairs watching the ocean go by... (my happy place, by the way!)

Here's my vote :drinking1

We'll definately be bringing some on board with us - not sure what yet - I'll see what strikes my fancy at the time:)

I hereby nominate my DUncle to be the official homework checker. He taught in the Massachusetts public school system for 20 years.

His price will likely be an exotic drink - but make sure that you give it to him AFTER he checks the homework. We're Irish by ancestry, you know.

I second the nomination as well!! And I do think this is the first smilie Mark ever posted!!! And a dancing one at that. :dance3:

We brought along wine last year - I would usually have a glass while getting ready for dinner (or sitting on the verandah waiting for the others to get ready for dinner) and sometimes bring it with me to dinner. Maybe I'm just lazy (on the cruise for sure!) but to bring all the "stuff" to make a good margarita or martini is kind of cumbersome, so wine is the standby. I will, however, order a cocktail, drink of the day, or other special drink as the mood hits me. :woohoo:

Do you think we should all plan to enroll in AA when we disembark? Will there be twelve steps required to get off the boat??

Hey guys...I am/was a poster on the 1/20 Eastern thread that just had to cancel our trip due to our daughter's illness. She was hopitalized on Wednesday because of dehydration due to some type of virus. Fortuantely, we are home today, but not really too far down on the road to recovery. So not only are we feeling disappointed that we had to cancel (thank goodness for trip insurance!) but we are still dealing with her terrible and draining illness as well.

I was glad to get on line and see a pretty involved cruise meet thread and a little overwhelmed by having to read so many posts to get acquainted with my new fellow cruisers. If anyone is willing to share a quick synopsis of who, what, where as far as anything organized for our cruise or other special info, I would appreciate it. I am also interested in knowing about anyone cruising with children. Our daughter will be six when we are cruising....she was supposed to be celebrating her 6th on board this week! This will be our first disney cruise..my dh and I have cruised several times before without our daughter and we have done WDW 2x as a family for her 3rd and 4th birthday.

So, we begin a count down again...we thought our countdown had gone single digits...Even though we are greatly disappointed, our health and well being is far more important!

Thanks and we are looking forward to joining your cruise as well as this thread!

Welcome Michelle and family!! I'm sure you're disappointed to have to wait 6 more weeks, but I'm glad you're able to join us and didn't lose your entire trip - but you said it, health and well being surpasses all else.

I wish I could give you a synopsis of all of us, but I still haven't learned everyone's names yet! As for us - the Storys - our DS is 6, and DD almost four (end of March). I'd say that our 6 y.o.'s would play together, but my boy is not terribly interested in playing with girls - at least not yet!!

You will find some very friendly people here and we're getting pretty psyched about the trip. I think our motto is "the more the merrier!" - and despite all the drinking references, I can assure you I'm not an alcoholic. :)

Looking forward to getting to know you better. Johnna

A quick welcome to Michele and family. Sorry to here about your DD illness, we send some:flower3: 's and many well wishes for a speedy and full recovery!!!

I have 2 DD's, ages 10 & 13, this is our second Disney Cruise, our first being a 3 day last March, it was much too short, so we are really looking forward to spending a whole week onboard!!!! As well as meeting everyone...

Again :welcome: and like Johnna said "The more the merrrier" :grouphug:

Brenda:)

Welcome to the family Michelle.
Your best bet for the quick fix is from Kim 2, aka, The Keeper of the List, the DIS sign-on is kshabare . Send her a PM and she can send you a spreadsheet with names, ages, etc.

Like the others have said, sorry to hear about your DD, glad she is getting better, and more glad to have you with us.

:sad2: I tried the number that Johnna gave me and it was not Andie and Jeff. The lady who answered did not recognize (or said she did not) either first name.

Any other ideas?

CRUMB!!!!!

I'm really quite concerned about her, thanks for trying.......

I did a Google search of Cruise Crates and came up with a EBay store whose seller ID is Indea8989, and I sent her an e-mail through EBay. It looks like there are current items and new items on the site, so hopefully she will get this message.

Welcome aboard Michelle & family!:grouphug:

In our group there are now a total of 8 cruisers (yes, we've had another local addition to the trip in the last couple of weeks for a total of 5 adults and 3 children). As for my immediate group - myself, DH and DS6. This is our second cruise - also cruised Disney last March on the Western itinerary.

Ditto on the good wishes for your DDpixiedust:

Johnna - in relation to your comment: " - and despite all the drinking references, I can assure you I'm not an alcoholic", hmmm - denial? :scratchin (J/K -;) )

Thanks for all your well wishes for our daughter as well. I think, let me correct myself, I hope, she is on the road to recovery. Her true personality is beginning to show so I am hopeful that we have started the journey towards wellness.

I have PMed Kshabare for "the LIST". Is there any organized meet for our cruise yet? Looking forward to meeting you all and of course, sailing...

Thanks again for the welcome.

Well yes there are are couple of events planned. There is a Pre-Cruise meet at Grills on Friday the 2nd. The three of you are more than welcome, just let me know. I have not herad back from Grills from either the e-mail or letter I wrote so I will call them.

We also have a Dis-Meet planned in room 8022, but we have not heard from the Hosts in a while. So that is on hold right now. I have a couple of door signs for the meets made and I will add you to them. There is also a Palos brunch, but I believe we have filled one of the private rooms and I am not sure if anybody has started a list for a second room.

:hourglass :hourglass Less than 6 weeks.

I am traveling for work this week Tuesday - Friday, so I am going to fax our Palo brunch request on Monday with the list that we have put together.

I posted all of the instructions from my travel agent for setting up a second Palo brunch (and you can only set up one per stateroom, so if folks are interested in setting up a second one, have at it.

Mark

Thanks for all the info regarding the organized DIS meets...

Unfortunately, we are flying in on Saturday, so Grills is out of the question...and although Palo's sounds wonderful, I am not too sure if Emily is going to the clubs...she is an only child and not too sure about what to expect and unsure about wanting to go, so I think Palo's maybe be out too. This of course may change once she meets other kids.

Hopefully, the stateroom meet in 8022 will pan out...

That said, is there a chance of meeting somewhere casually perhaps during sail away or on sunday? Is there anything being done to ID us as DISers? We were doing foam lime green mickey heads to either wear on a lanyard or pin on for our cruise this week.

Thanks again!

I was kinda wondering about places to have a gathering as well, I was wondering if we could maybe pick a general location at the sail away party?? I know it gets kinda crazy there at that time w/ all the people, but if we did have DIS tags on that would make it alot easier to pick everyone out... figured that most everyone would be planning on being there anyway, and by then we would all probably have been to our rooms dropped our stuff off, and were ready to start having FUN, with the sail away drink in hand!!!!! (and yes, I am mostly a vacation drinker as well, and REALLY do look forward to each and every one of them. I have been working HARD, earning my disney visa points to buy all those drinks LOL:rotfl: !!!!)

Also for those of us planning on getting to the terminal early before boarding, that might be an opportunity as well, to put faces to who we have been talking with:)

Even if the meet with Indea works out...I think her sateroom would be buldging at the seams (w/ all of us) and may be a bit overwelming???? Indea if you are out there, and are having second thoughts about the Dis Meet in your room, we understand:) We want you back!!!!!

I love parties/gatherings of any kind...so I would be more than happy to help with anything you guys think would work out....

Ideas anyone??????

OHHH,,, I'm getting so EXCITED!!!!!:yay:

Happy Sunday to all....
Brenda:)
