OK everyone, start thinking those really good thoughts for me! I broke my left foot at work tonight. I have a boot on it right now and call the orthopedist in the morning. They will determine if I need surgery, cast or what! With only 6 1/2 weeks left, I sure hope not surgery!

OK, Kim and Carolyn.

These unfortunate events will only lead to a more robust appreciation of the cruise.

I promise.

Oh My GOSH!!!!!! What happened??? I'm sorry that that happened to you, esp. with the trip so close...Here's some pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: for a good report today @ your appt..and here some:flower3: 's and pooh: to help you feel better...

We'll be thinking of you..

Brenda:)

Kim

p.s. I'm not putting on any tattoos - I already have a black hidden Mickey tattoo on my right shoulder! The template for it came right from a copy of the DCL emblem. And besides that, I'm already a sea hag. :rotfl: I will put on my tropical wear unless I come up with something more fun!

Kim - thanks for the list. I was really thinking of the tattoos for the kids, but hey, if the adults want them to, what the heck! :)

Sorry to hear about your foot and hope your appointment goes well and no surgery.

My mom did that 2 years ago the day before the Disneyland trip. She was able to do everything she wanted, but quicker. I know that sounds weird. We (as a family), were able to get all handicapped things, wheelchair (most the time she pushed it with our stuff in it or child), handicapped seating, handicapped parking, handicapped entrances to the rides and shows (so we were always first in line). The joke in the family now is, who is going to hurt themselves before a trip - I know that sounds terrible because there are so many other people in more need than us.

You will have a great trip no matter what.

Thanks everyone for the pirate and glow stick suggestions. I had heard of the glow stick suggestions, but not the pirate. I guess it is the same thing, I just hadn't put it together. So, I went out to Target yesterday, and sure enough, lots of pirate stuff for cheap. I am going to get the glow sticks right before the trip (sometimes they expire and don't work if kept too long). I have also boughten a Disney snow globe which I am taking with (here it only cost $15.00 and at Disneyland we picked up a similar one for $50.00). I would rather pack it there, give it as a gift to my DD-8 and pack it back and save that money for something on the cruise.

Any other suggestions for a newbie?

Linda

Norman,
Here's some pixiedust: and (since your probably not a guy who cares much for flowers) a:drinking1 w/ a cheer for a speedy recovery...

Everyone else.....be safe and stay WELL!!!!!

Carolyn - so so sorry this happened to you - hope you're not in too much pain. All good wishes and more pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: for a good diagnosis today.

If you are laid up for part of the cruise, I'm happy to sit by the pool wth you for hours on end just reading and drinking the cocktail of the day. :thumbsup2

Caropooh says thanks for all the pixiedust: and thoughts.

As of now she is not in too much pain. She has an "Avulsion Fracture of the Navicular Bone", which means a tendon or ligament pulled a piece of her bone off when she fell. The bone is on the top of her foot just below the ankle. We do not know if she will need surgery to put a pin or screw in; or if she will need a cast. The Orthpediest is not in yet (only 7:00 AM West Coast). She is not supposed to walk on it, but we have not been able to buy or find crutches yet. I went down to the hospital last night to get her, and then her meds and stuff from work. We will update later when we know more.

Carolyn - oh no! My DH broke his wrists before a trip to Mexico a couple of years ago - while he was out running in Playacar he passed (and waved) to others also running with braces and casts on - it was quite humourous, actually. He was lucky to have braces instead of casts, so that he could take them off for around the pool and stuff. But, here's some morepixiedust: and :goodvibes for you

Kim2 - glad it happened at home too! Here's some :goodvibes for u too:)

OK, my appointment is for 2:00pm tomorrow, so I'll update after that. We are supposed to get snow tonight, so lets hope we don't get alot and shut things down. Johnna, what a generous person you are! :lmao: I might just need some of that relaxing time!
Kim and Norm, sending pixie dust for a speedy recovery! I'm joining in with the glad it happened at home people.
OK, no more illnesses, surgeries or injuries! We are all done with that!

Carolyn,
I'll be thinking happy thoughts for you at 2:00 today for some good news from your doctor. Sending you prayers, wishes, and lots and lots of pixiedust:

Sending some to you too Norman for a speedy recovery!

Hope all went well for you at your appt. today, Carolyn!

Norm--wishing you a speedy recovery!

NO SURGERY OR CAST!!!!!
My sprain is probably going to take longer to heal than my fracture. The whole outside of my foot is lightly bruised and I have one smaller one on the inside of my foot near my ankle. It's still pretty swollen all over. I can go back to work on Monday, but light duty for 2 months. Due to all the restrictions put on me, that means basically sitting at a desk doing paperwork. Not at all what my job entails, but my supervisor says we'll manage it. I'll go to physical therapy 2 times a week for 4 weeks and wear the soft boot till I'm comfortable wearing shoes.(at least 2 weeks)
So, thanks for all the good thoughts! I should be doing pretty good by the of the cruise!

:yay:
Great news Carolyn! So glad you don't need surgery-happy healing! Take advantage of your downtime and enjoy some TLC from your family

51 days 'til we cruise!!! :woohoo:

NO SURGERY OR CAST!!!!!

So, thanks for all the good thoughts! I should be doing pretty good by the of the cruise!

Oh man! Bummer! Now who's going to be my hanging by the pool all day buddy??? :goodvibes

But seriously, I'm glad you're going to be better by the trip. There must be something to all that pixiedust: !!!

:cool1:

OK...I just have to say that the weather in Southern California is ridiculous!!!

Tuesday...85 degrees
Today...it snowed!!!! :confused3

Wow mommykeg! We are up here near Santa Barbara and it's been into the 20's at night but no snow. We were also hot on Mon and Tues but yesterday-freezing! The last time I saw snow in SoCal was in 1988 in Northridge.

I'm fantasizing about those heated tile loungers...:cloud9:

Is anyone on the east coast freezing their 'noses' off? We've been so very lucky so far but OMG, I'm cold, cold, cold!

DSJoshua got a tip from a teacher to wear slip-ons the next time you travel, in case you have to take off your shoes for the security check. Heck with that! I'm wearing my flip-flops. We've booked a room at the Sheraton at the Bradley International Airport for the night before just so we can start our vacation early! I'll pack little socks to wear on the plane but when I get on 'my' ship I'm dipping those toes in the water with a nice tropical drink. Ho hum.

Stay warm everyone - and stay away from ladders, manhole covers, low hanging trees, etc. Thanks to everyone who wishes Norman well. He's feeling much, much better. I can tell - he's back to being fresh with me again (flipping the bird in jest!) :rolleyes1 .

Okay, have a great weekend! Not too many left!

Kim ºOº

Things have been quite warm here (North Carolina). Almost 70 degrees today. Supposed to get cooler this coming week. I'm ready for it to get cold so that it will make the cruise that much more of a vacation. Good luck with the snow!!

We were heading to page three...so I thought I'd better save us!!!!!

The temps here have been freezing!!!!This past weekend our high's didin't even get out of the single digits, w/ lows below zero...

Has anyone heard from Indea 88???

Indea.... if you are out there, let us know that you are o.k.!!!!!

Caropooh and Norm...hope you both are having a speedy recovery,
As for everyone else, a quick hello to all...

Have a good week...
Brenda:)
