And I'll also let everyone know that, for those of you who are literally counting the days like I am, Tuesday signifies the passing of significant milestone:

199 DAYS UNTIL THE CRUISE!!!

We're under the 200-day mark then, which for those of you Founding Fathers of the thread (Alanapapa), 199 sounds a heck of a lot better than 497.

Well, off to watch "Silence of the Limbs -- I mean, "Lambs" -- again.

Mark

Excuse me, Mr Story  might I have you revisit the 1st post of this thread. You will then see that it is a Founding MOTHER princess: not FATHER pirate: of this thread!!!!!!!
199 does sound a heck of alot better than 497!!! :dance3:

Yeah! Just found out that DH can get time off a few days before sailing, so we're thinking of coming down either the Wed or Thurs prior to start the vaca early :cool1: I've notice some people are staying at the Radisson (can't remember if it was in this forum or not) - any other recommendations? What about car rentals? Can drop-off/pick-ups be done at the hotel? What about shuttles to the port? I'm sure this has been asked and answered before but I'm now too excited to search! :surfweb:

It's exciting that we can start this early  ! Just hope we don't get dinged too bad changing our flight arrival date with DCL :confused3

Who else is going early? :yay:

Hi.

My DH and I will be on this cruise with our son, celebrating the finalization of his adoption. He will turn 4 in Jan, so we're thinking he'll be a great age for his first vacation, and our first *family* vacation.

Welcome to the DIS and to the cruise. :grouphug:

MamaSnarks - welcome! :grouphug: And a great BIG congratulations on the adoption of your son - that's awesome! :cheer2:

Thanks !

I go back and forth from being crazy excited, to incredibly nervous. This will be a first cruise for all of us. The Travel Channel had a special on the Disney Cruise Line, which we TIVO'd, and have watched approx. 187 times.

We did our first cruise this past March and should have re-booked at that time, but we waited until about a month ago. We were also a bit anxious - have heard horror stories about seasickness, food quality, etc. - thankfully - our DCL cruise was indeed magical :cloud9: (hence the re-booking) and once we made up our mind what we wanted to do next March we had no trouble settling on Disney as the cruiseline-cannot imagine cruising with anyone else! :yay:

We also took our first cruise March 4th 2006, (3 day). Like you, I didn't know what to expect as far as seasickness, etc. so thought we play it safe and try the 3 day..... we really enjoyed it, so went ahead and rebooked a 7day while onboard...

So... I was just curious if we where on the same cruise or not :)

Nope:( We did the 7-day western March 11-18. We thought we were playing it safe by bringing a pharmacy with us :) I hope to rebook onboard this time, too :woohoo:

I finally took the time to read through the entire thread. We'd love if you could add us ( DW Christine and DH Joe) to the Palo brunch.

We are flying down on Friday, staying somewhere nearby. TA will figure that part out.

Any tips on best excursions for a 4 YO ???

Actually - if you're taking names for the list, DH (Shawn) and I would love to be on it as well - what day is the brunch on the cruise?

Brunch is served on "At Sea" days. But ressies won't be available until 90 days out.

Again, Welcome Christine and Joe, and DS.

Okay you people with great imagination, do we need a name for our group? Reading some of the trip reports and the Cruise meets with the cute names got me thinking (which unlike Tigger is NOT something I do best). So how about it, can somebody come up with something??

Yeah! We've officially extended the vaca, which will now start at CBR Feb 28th - whoohoo!! :cool1:

I'm not at all a creative person (except in my work) and have not been able to come up with any names (at least any not too silly to share:)) - I'll keep thinking on it, though :thumbsup2

Hey everyone,

Sorry we've been MIA for a couple of weeks, but we've ogt a lot going on. On a whim, my DW was surfing the Internet for a house (our current house, while we love it dearly, has clearly come too small for us - we are bursting at the seams), and in the span of two days, we bought at new house for a SUBSTANTIAL DISCOUNT (sellers have a house that they have already purchased). That's the good news. The bad news is that we have to move on SEPTEMBER 1ST. That's 12 days from now, for all of you counting. So we're talking about finding a mortgage lender (done in one day), transferring my son's school (done is one day), notifying all of the utilities (in process) locating a mover who can take us on the busiest weekend of the year (not done yet), not to mention packing up a house full of seven years of stuff. Oh, and there's the little thing about selling my house and getting it ready,so I have been working from dawn to dusk to make improvements to our house in order to put it on the market.

Whew. I keep waking up at between 2 and 4 in the morning either because a) my body is in pain because of all of the work I've been doing (like yesterday, I demolished a 40-year-old shed) or b) to make hay while the sun shines or c) because I am so stressed out. It's probably a combination of the three.

That said, when the deadline approaches to fax in our Palo brunch request, I'll certainly make sure that everyone who wants in is on the list. Given the amount of people who have asked in (and I think that the room only holds 14 people), we may have to split it up into two groups. I'll keep everyone posted.

A very stressed out and sore Mark

Wow, talk about a little stress. What part of the DC area are you in and where are you moving to. if you don't mind my asking?

mark_story - WOW! Talk about fast moving! (no pun intended :rotfl2:). Create a positive mantra for yourself "it will be over in 2 weeks, it will be over in 2 weeks, it will be over in 2 weeks, it...well, you get the picture). Good luck on the move:)

'K here's one...

Alanapapa,

Don't mind you asking at all. We're staying in the same town, Kensington, Maryland, just moving about 3 miles in closer to DC. The school district changes as well - our children can now go to a school cluster that is in the top 1 percent nationally. Don't know if we'll be here the whole time (the next 15 years until my DD would graduate from high school), but it's nice to have the option.

The house that we're going to move into is probably 3 times the size of the house we're in now, and have been for the last seven years. We love this house, but it has just become too small for us. Plus, my DUncle, whom all of you will meet on the cruise, is now 72 and will probably be coming to live with us in a year or so. We want the extra space for him and when he comes, will create and apartment for him in the basement with his own separate entrance.

Since I was up at 4:00 and outside working on the yard as soon as it got light at 6:30 and have not stopped since, I'm a little tired right now. But there is a LOT to do in the next 12 days. :hourglass
