My concern for the war will always be there...whether I cruise or not.

So I'm cruising.

I have very few worries about my safety, however. It's my DW that's freaking out, so it takes all my energies to calm HER down.

Personally, the only precaution I'd take is to cancel my flight and drive from CT to the port, as I'd have to time to do it, and I LOVE cross country drives.

The missus doesn't want to take two 22-hour drives with the kids in the car.

So we're flying.

I worry a little about war. I am worried about being away from our adult children. Our daughter works in a hospital and lives in Chicago in a high rise on the lake front. Our son is in law enforcement.

I'm concerned about the war too...but I refuse to let the terrorist rule the way I want to live my life. I hope that this Iraq confict is over quickly with as little loss of life as possible. One of my friends sent me a email from CARE that had some statisitics that 50% of the Iraqi population is under 18 years of age and 40% of the population is currently having their health and food needs met by one of the world wide charitable organizations.

schmoogrrl, we need a new picture of Katie. Show us how she will look in one of her cruise outfits. The snow scene is making me colder. We had 76 on Monday afternoon and 40 Monday evening and we are now at 40 and holding. It is raining and gloomy here. No sun until the weekend. I need a cruise.

The weather here has actually been getting warmer. Kinda dark and dreary today though. Blah!

If anyone has a good packing list for what Mom, Dad, DS 15 YO and DD 13 YO should pack - I would appreciate you posting it.

I guess I need to start thinking about packing - considering we leave in 8 days.

EIGHT DAYS! WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED - I MADE THIS RESERVATION A YEAR IN ADVANCE - I SHOULD HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO PACK - SHOULDN'T I? Help!

Are you guys packing pants (eg for little girls) in case the evenings are cool? I'm considering only packing dresses and shorts for my daughter. Do you think she might be cold at night?

KPG, I think you absolutely should pack light pants for the little ones.

On the subject of teachers, I got cooperation from most of them except one, who is standing pat on her March 31 book report due date.

Since we're leaving March 27, we have less than a week to finish three of them (remember, triplets).

I hate her.

Anyway, we are under 10 days! Woo-Hoo!

I just hope this war is over quickly and with little loss of life before we go, if possible.

I packed a bunch of capris for my DD. I'm only going to bring one or two pairs of long paints, mainly for the flights going there and coming home.

Less than ten days, Yipee!!!!!

Wow, I wasn't even going to bring one pair for her or for myself- just what we need for the flight down. UGH, now I have to rethink things. How many pairs of pants do I really need? I thought the weather would be warm.

KPG, you don't need to worry, one or two light pairs will do fine.

The weather IS warm, but the boat is air-conditioned indoors, and when it's hot all day, even though the thermometer at night might indicate that it is still warm, it's just cooler by comparison to daytime.

Better safe than sorry...

Hi all,
I just joined the forum (my neighbor sent me the link). Thanks for everyone who responded to my first thread (you guys sent me here). Anyways, I don't get alot of time to spend on email surfing through the threads (I'm type A and work to many hours! I have to work on that!) so I was wondering if someone could recap the meeting place & time and what we are supposed to bring. We would like to meet up if possible.

Its been nice reading the threads tonight to get some of the excitement back. Yesterday's news sort of put a damper on my enthusiasm, but its coming back. Of course I practically have to peel my daughter off the ceiling!

We are meeting right after the boat drill in front of Scoops (the ice cream place). Wear a green ribbon or string so we can identify you. If desired, bring a postcard or 3 X 5 card with your screen name, hometown, and the names of people in your party. It should be fun! Look forward to meeting you in about a week!

Does anyone actually have a count of how many DISSER families will be on this cruise?

And BTW - where is my packing list?
