March 27, 2010 - Spring Break with Mickey on the Magic!

Hey guys, it feels good to get closer to our cruise date. Since we will probably shift back to the Wonder and the West Coast next year, we're trying to make the most of our last trip to Florida (at least for a while). We've booked 5 days at WDW and plan to do Kennedy Space Center before we get on the boat. So, we'll be the exhausted family.

Our DD's are 5 and 7. On our last cruise, they enjoyed the kids club, but had very little time in there. We plan to have them use the club more this time. If anyone has kids aged similar who would like some ready-made friends, please let us know!

Also, we're still up for splitting cab fare for excursions if anyone is doing the same things we plan to.

My daughter will be 6 on this cruise. We last cruised on the Magic in May & my daughter did not want to leave the kids club EVER! I'm sure they'll meet up there. :grouphug:

Hi, everybody -

I just saw a thread on the main cruise page about the new Villains show on the Magic - it debuts during our cruise so we'll be the first to see it! :woohoo: We enjoyed the Golden Mickeys last time but it'll be fun to see something new.

Here's a link to the thread, which has a link to the announcement and a short video about the new show:

Welcome! Let me know if you and your family want to join the Fish Extender group.

We're almost down to a double digit wait!!

Not sure what you mean double digit wait?!? Also, can you explain exactly how the FE works? I know a little about it. I was skeptical of doing it last time because I wasn't sure how many gifts I was supposed to take and how it worked. So we didn't do it.

According to the “my reservation” section on the DCL website today:

Only 99 days until your cruise sets sail!

99 days to wait = double digit wait (which is an exciting milestone to me since I booked this trip waaaayyyy back in October 2008 when it was like a 540 day wait!).

About the FE exchange, this is from the FAQ thread on the cruise board:
So, what’s it for? Well… It’s become a kind of “Secret Santa” game played by the folks who roam the DIS Boards. The idea is that every DIS Member who is on the same cruise will go around the ship and leave a little “nick-nack” or “whats-it” in the pouches for the other members that are playing along. The generally agreed rules are that you give out gifts to each participant once per cruise, and that the gifts should be very inexpensive trinkets that either fit a cruise or holiday theme and/or show off a little taste of who you are or the place that you call home. Here’s a link to a continuing thread on the boards that discusses the subject at length:

It would be completely up to you what kind of gift you wanted to bring, but the basic idea is that you bring one gift for every other stateroom that is participating (I don’t think ours is going to be a big group, but if lots of people did sign up then we could split into smaller groups to cut down on the number of gifts every person would bring). Some people choose to do one gift for each person in the stateroom, or one for the adults and one for the kids; that’s nice – but completely optional. Some people make things; some buy things. Last cruise we filled a little party bag with various small items (some Vegas things, some pirate-themed stuff) and gave one bag per stateroom.

It was a little work running all over the ship delivering gifts, but it was fun too, and good exercise. :) It was exciting getting back to our room every day and checking out all the great stuff in our FE (our group decided to stagger the delivery days so there was something in there almost every day). We got some really simple gifts (candy, stickers, pens) and some really elaborate ones (a hand crafted Disney-themed photo album). While we really appreciated the effort that some people put into their gifts, we also appreciated the simpler things (gum, safety pins!). Mainly it was lots of fun!

Below are pictures of both our door with the FE hanging and all the great stuff we got during the week.

Yea!!!!! Can't wait to get to the Cruise...we may have snow this weekend & it is freezing here!

We had to cancel...our little one wants to go to Disney instead. Please take us off the FE list & have a great trip!!

Hello! My mom and I just got off of the Magic today from the Christmas cruise and we loved it so much we decided to go back! Hope everyone has a good holiday.

Very excited to be going on our second Disney Magic cruise. Both md DS (4) and my DD (8) are asking about it every day.

Looking forward to using the children's areas a little more on this cruise. My daughter didn't spend too much time in there 2 years ago but we are hoping she uses it more this time. Son was too young, he was in Flounder's Reef a couple of times.

Does anybody have any kids that are close to these ages that maybe my daughter can start emailing before we sail?

Hi, stichlover87 and raphael roses!

Wow, how cool to spend Christmas on a Disney ship! That was an Eastern cruise too, right? It must have been a great one!

I would love to be able to do Christmas on a Disney cruise! Wow - that must have been really fun. I don't get to take vacation from Dec 15 to the end of the year, I'm in accounting. But some day...

Ok now we are thinking about Lord Sheffield's Pirate Cruise.
Does anyone have info on this excursion?
