Who? Me (37), DH (40) and our twin DD's (9-turning-10)
Thursday was our day at sea. We had better weather this day than our previous sea day -- bright sunny skies. DH got up early and went to the gym. I considered going to 7:30 am yoga, but didn't feel like stirring out of my comfy bed. We went to the breakfast buffet at Topsiders and ate outside. Then down to Mickey's Mates to make hair braiding appointments. There were already people waiting when they opened at 9am, but we were third in line. If you want hair braiding at Castaway Cay -- BE THERE when they open to get an appointment. (You can still do walkups at CC, but why waste your time waiting on the island?)
After two days of full sun, we weren't too interested in hanging out by the pool. The kids wanted to zone out in the room, watching TV (they LOVE having 24/7 Disney access on tv!) but we convinced them that they needed to live a little, and they went up to the sports deck to meet the Lab for Goofy World Records. DH and I went to a presentation about the Adventures by Disney vacation program. It sounds like a wonderful thing they are planning, and you could get a special deal on the packages this summer by being part of the trial program, but we'd rather spend the money on another cruise! I think the program has great potential, especially if they expand it to Europe and Australia like they are planning to. It will be opened to the public in the fall, but at this time the only destinations are Hawaii and Yellowstone.
Then we went to the Navigator's series in Rockin' Bar D -- it was about the Magic in the shipyard. This was kind of exciting for us, as the dry dock period was in Norfolk, Virginia, close to where we live. Then there was a question-and-answer period with the staff captain and the chief engineer, which was quite interesting.
The girls had checked out of the lab and returned to the room, and were (of course!) camped out on the couch watching TV. We convinced them to change into their suits and go up to the pool. It was jam packed, as usual, but they swam a little bit. We had lunch at Topsiders; it was a seafood buffet, which was okay (but not as yummy as the fajitas on the Cozumel day!)
DH and I had a 3pm tea at Palo's. I was surprised at how few people there were at tea. It was a fun experience, but doesn't live up to brunch or dinner. But we enjoyed having the time to sit and chat and sip tea. Don't get me wrong -- the goodies are yummy, especially the scones!! We saw Jemma again, as well as Salvatore from Italy, who is a total hoot! His brother Marco is also a server in Palo; they are both great.
I took a nap after tea; dh did some exploring and the girls went back to the pool. Then it was time for everyone to shower and get dressed.
Disney Dreams was our show that night, and it was fantastic. I got kind of teary, thinking how quickly our cruise was going to be over and how fast my girls are growing up, and just how much I love Disney and magic and pixie dust.
We had our semi-formal night dinner back in Lumiere's. I ordered the mushroom soup, which was just okay. The kids' fruit appetizer was fantastic though. I think I had beef tenderloin again. DH had lobster tail and liked it. Amaretto cheesecake for dessert, but again, not much more than a taste.
After dinner we went to a show in Studio Sea with the kids. I think it was Walk the Plank; it was okay, but probably more fun for the people who had been picked to participate.
We tucked the girls into bed and then dh headed up to the dessert buffet. He brought back two huge plates of gooodies -- oh my gosh! He said it was quite an amazing spread; I"m sorry I didn't get to see it, but enjoyed tasting the treats.
