March 26, 2011 - Eastern Caribbean Magic and FE Exchange!

Great FE!

Can you PM me the seller on ebay so we can see if they have more?

Thanks

It's "gradysmommy" - I think you can look her up by that? If not, let me know and I'll go through my ebay to find her. She has a TON of different fabrics and styles to use..... And the quality is great!

OK, my mind is mush! I needed to clear out my PM folder because it was full and I got rid of all the PMs about the FE. I have added everyone as they've PM'd me but I forgot to match up the DIS screen names with everyone so if you could just shoot me a quick PM with your last name so I can match it up..... everything else I have except email from MNBrooke. We are up to 8 families!!!

I just bought a little sumpin sumpin on ebay to complete my FEs and I did enough for 30 adults, so as much as I'd love to have more in our FE exchange, I'm secretly hoping for 15 families......

It's finally hit me. WE ARE GOING ON A DISNEY CRUISE IN JUST OVER 2 MONTHS!!!!!

You'll need to bring cable ties or something similar to secure it to the fish hook. A ship full of kids is asking for it to come off the hook.

Can you explain more about using cable ties? Does it just make it harder to pull off because the ties are more solid and don't break if a child pulls on the FE?

We have the late seating. It was all that was available when we booked, and my travel agent put me on the wait list, but I think I want to stay late seating. Hopefully my DD will like the kids club and be as excited as her brother to go there after they eat.

I just ordered my FE from a lady on etsy. This will be our first exchange and I am very excited! It's so nice to have something to look forward to!

We used small plastic cable ties to secure the hanger to the hook. I'll see if I can upload a picture this weekend. It requires cutting at the end of the trip to get your hanger off the hook.

We also put our names or room number somewhere on the door magnets to reduce the risk of losing them.

We are early seating because we booked on board last year. (They offer nice discounts for booking on board. All you need to do is pay a deposit on the ship and you'll get the discount even if you make changes or choose another day later.) It is a good idea to check into your spring break or other plans ahead of time in case you want to book onboard.

They arrange the show times with the dinner times. During early dinner, the late seating people can see the show. Then they switch with some time in between. Works great, but it does dictate your schedule for the evening. On our cruise there should be 3 different shows plus opening and closing shows, so that is 5 nights without repeat.

My opinion is that your on vacation, so you'll be able to adjust to whatever dinner time you have .. sleeping in, napping or staying up late!

We have late seating too and at first I was bummed but the more I think about it I think I'll like it. Ally will be 10 so she can stay up later, which is fine, and I think it will give us a not so rushed feeling getting ready for dinner. If we don't want to catch a show, we can just relax, or whatever. Plus, getting back on board from island excursions won't be as crazy? I'm just thinking out loud because this is all new to me! So feel free to ignore me! :rotfl2:

We picked late seating for the same reasons. I think I will like not having to rush back from excursions. We also like the Dine and Play feature for the kids.

Anyone know how far the pagers go if we choose to venture off the ship and leave Ally in the kids club? I think I read that you can do this if you will be within range...... We have no plans in St Maarten so we thought we might venture out by ourselves for a couple hours and then come back and grab Ally for lunch.....

When is everyone eating dinner early/late? We booked the late seating.

We are late seating as well...only option available but I think I like the idea of not rushing so much on excursion days, etc.

That's a GREAT question about the pagers...hmmm. I would love to know too in case the kids also don't feel like doing St. Maarten/really love the kids clubs as it would be nice to explore by ourselves if at least for a little while.

They have gotten rid of the pagers and now they use the new Wave Phones to contact you from the kids clubs. I have read that the phones work on Castaway Cay but I have not heard if they will reach to the other Islands.

We have the late dinner as well since that was all that was left when we booked. It should be fine - I'm sure the kids will want to stay up late so they don't miss anything.

I did book the morning butterfly farm excursion for St. Maarten giving us the afternoon to explore the island a bit or go to orient beach for a few hours. If anyone has done this excursion and wants to steer me away from it - I'm a bit hesitant about this one!

I also booked the morning doubloon sail / snorkel on St. Thomas - hopefully giving us time to shop and see the island again in the afternoon.

We're also doing the butterfly farm excursion! I was describing all of the excursions we could do to my son and he really wanted to do this one. The reviews I saw were mixed- some say they loved it and it wasn't to be missed for kids under 12, others said they had seen better butterfly exhibits at zoos. We don't normally do the butterfly houses b/c my husband doesn't like butterflies, but since he's not cruising with us, I gave in to my son and booked it.

I might change our excursion for Trunk Bay because, if I read correctly- the excursion is from 10:15-2:45 and the 'all aboard' is 3:15??? Will we have enough time really? (Of course, this excurions is booked through Disney- I would 'assume' they wouldn't leave us if there were tardiness issues, etc.)

I have a question for all of our FE participants- How many of you scrapbook? :)
