March 25, 2006- Anyone else?

I still haven't been able to book my Costa Maya excursion. I called Disney again and they confirmed it's a problem on their end. He tried looking up availability also and nothing comes up, even for Castaway Cay. Oh well, hopefully it will be slow at work today and I'll have some luck. It took me an extra 40 minutes to drive into work this morning, so my day isn't off to a good start. You have to love all the traffic on I88.

I don't know what is going on for you but I just checked the website and the Costa Maya excurisons showed up for me...

DD (almost 9) is reading the threads with me and looking for any 8 or 9 year old girls! :grouphug:

Are we still planning to meet after the sail away party? party:  :teacher: :clown: :moped: :3dglasses

yep.. as far as I know... the only suggestion is Saturday March 25th, on deck 10 right after the life vest drill on the side by the terminal ( starboard, I think)

Unless anyone else has any other suggestions....

Yes, let's definitely meet then and there! A lot of the fun of getting ready for and looking forward to this cruise is having already "met" so many great people on this board, and I'm really looking forward to meeting you all in person, especially because we will all be sailing off for a Magic week together. (In just 39 days, but who's counting... :goodvibes)

geffric, do you feel confident that at least 20 people are willing to pay you for the DIS wristbands when we meet on the 25th? (DW, DD12, and me are in for sure.) Just in case, I picked up three "alien green" Mickey paint samples at Home Depot Saturday, which I guess we can write "DIS Boards" on and tape to our shirts... :rotfl:

As of today, I don't have any other interest for the wrist bands other than our two families...so as much as I would like to get them, it seems silly to order 20 for the 7 of us...

What do you think?? I am out of town for the next 6 days, do you want to order them, and take our chances?

geffric, tell you what...if while you are away riding the coasters over the next week, I get a sense that enough folks here are willing to pitch in to get the other 13 (or more), I will go ahead and order them; if not, c'est la vie. And whether or not we have wristbands, to quote another French phrase from New Orleans I love, when we get on board, laissez les bon temps rouler!

:rainbow: DIS board members on the 3/25 cruise -- any interest in pitching in to buy wristbands to commemorate the cruise and recognize one another when we get to the port or onboard? They'd say "DIS Magic 3/25/06" so everyone who had one would have a souvenir of the cruise. They look to cost about $1.95 apiece plus a share of the $8 shipping-- see the web site here. If so, let me know on here or by private message. Thanks!

I've been checking this thread here & there for the past few months. Our cruise is coming quickly now and I'd better take time to introduce myself before time gets away from me and I miss the chance!

So, Hi to all you fellow DIS 3-25-06 Magic cruisers!!

We have 2 cat 12 staterooms reserved. It is a first for me -- I usually try to snag one of the secret porthole rooms. In fact, Geffric - you have my room! ;)

And there's something else familiar - Geffric, did my DD and I meet you on an earlier DCL cruise? We sailed on a 7-day Magic cruise the January following 9-11. Was it then? Or perhaps the special $99 cruise that next October?

We had originally booked March 2006 on Carnival because it was cheaper, but had a change of heart and switched to DCL some time ago. To cut costs, we opted for the cat 12 gty, so it will be interesting to see if that is where we end up. I'm a little nervous about not having a window (even an obstructed one) but I am sure it will all work out!

There will be 5 of us - my sister and her DS16 and DD4 in one room and my DD14 and I in another. We have the late seating for dinner.

My DD turns 14 next week and is looking forward to checking out the Stack (the new teen area) for the first time. She is hoping to meet up with some other teens on the cruise. Anyone?

We will plan on the meet at the sailaway party. Count us in for the bracelets - we will need 5. I can pay you at the sailaway party or send a check or $$ to you ahead of time if you wish. Just let me know. I'm partial to the lime green. If we don't order them, I do have a lime green one from Castaway Cay that I'll try to remember to wear along with my lime green Castaway Cay t-shirt :rolleyes2

Talk to you soon and see you in about 5-1/2 weeks!!!

MickeyMagic (aka Sue)

Oops - posted under daughter's login (DDMickeyMagic) instead of my own (MickeyMagic). Will answer to either!!

Sue, welcome aboard! Great to have you with us! Your 5 bracelets gets us up to 12...assuming I can get 8 more takers, I'll get you 5 and let you know the total cost at the party and collect then. (Unfortunately, I don't take "Key to the World" cards.) :rotfl2: Lime green sounds great -- seems to be a DIS tradition.

lflynn: my sister (skibum's daughter) will be nine so tell your daughter!!!!
MickeyMagic: :welcome: Also, tell your daughter that I will be turning 14 while on the boat!!!! So that's a few girls our age...

Geffric and Gimpeaux: I think you can count in 5 or 6 more wristbands....but it's not definite.... I'll get back to you tomorrow... after I ask my dad (skibum) for sure....

Also, we may want to meet on deck 10, directly across from the stage...it's a good view...(if it's not too crowded)... just a thought......

only 38 days, 46 minutes, and 28 seconds until our cruise!!!!!!! :cheer2:  :cool1:

Hi MickeyMagic glad you joined our cruise thread...

Our last cruise was Spring Break 2004, so we were not on the January one..but we may have met at one of the DVC things on an earlier cruise or ?? We can figure that out when we meet in a few weeks..

I will add you to our list of DISers on the cruise. We are late seating for dinner and I have the boys DS14 ( turning 15 in the cruise ) and DS12.

gimpeaux thanks for taking over the wrist band thing..Let me know if you want me to send you a check or just cash at the Deck 10 party..

Minnie328 thanks for the suggestion on the location.

So we are set for the DIS meet on saturday march 25th on deck 10 , terminal side accross from the stage..

talk to ya later, I need to get some work done and then I leave this afternoon to ride coasters with DS12 at US/IOA. We are going to do one day at WDW doing the E rides, hoping to ride Everest too...

The Minnie328/Skibum family will take 6 wristbands: 2 of the adult ones and 4 of the small framed adult/teenager/kid ones! :yay:

Only 37 days 'till we all meet!!!! :cheer2:

See ya soon! :tink:

Oh! I didn't realize there were different size wristbands. If so, for my 5 wristbands I would like 3 adults sized and 2 of the smaller sized ones.

Did anyone receive a letter from DCL about the port change? We haven't seen anything yet. What would we do without our DIS boards to get up-to-date info on everything Disney!! :confused3

We haven't decided if we will do any excursions at any of the ports. A nice stretch of beach is all we probably need. I know we can find that in Caymans and sounds like we can do a beach day on our own in Costa Maya. In Key West, we may just bum around... maybe jump on the Conch train, shop a little. And last, but definitely not least, we will enjoy the beach at Castaway Cay.

I'm wondering about the teen excursion on Castaway Cay. I'm thinking my DD14 may enjoy this. I will have to mention it to her. Any info on this or are any teens planning to do this?

Geffric - Enjoy your getaway and let us all know about EE if you get on!

:hourglass Keep that time a ticking down!!!

The web site lists three sizes of wristbands -- large, medium, and child. Large is 8-3/8" in circumference and described as fitting most adults. Medium is 7-3/8" in circumference and described as fitting most kids, teenagers, and small-framed adults. Child is 5-7/8" in circumference and described as fitting children 4 to 6 years old.

But the site requires ordering in multiples of 20, and you can't divvy up a group of 20 into different sizes. So if we need larges and mediums, I would have to order 20 adult and 20 mediums. Unless we each grow extra arms, or wear one on both left and right wrists, we will need more folks to join in so we can hit those "Magic" numbers.

To help me figure out the order, and how close we can get to getting the right amount of the right sizes, please let me know how many of each size you would like no later than February 25. I will apportion the shipping cost (probably $8-10 total) and let each of you know your total cost, probably in a private message. I haven't figured out yet whether to ask that you send me checks in advance or just pay me onboard. The main advantage of the former is you will have one less thing to think about bringing with you, and we won't have to deal with that at the sailaway party.

Here is what I have so far:

MickeyMagic/DDMickeyMagic -- 3 adult, 2 medium (5 total)
Minnie328/skibum -- 2 adult, 4 medium (6 total)
dlf246 -- 5 total, but how many of each size?
geffric -- 2 adult, 2 medium (4 total)
gimpeaux/monkeybug94 -- 2 adult, 1 medium (3 total)

Whew! And please, if anyone has any different ideas, I am, like Mickey, all ears. :earsboy:

Hey Rachel
It's Emily again. Minnie, my sister is nine too. pixiedust:
I am soooooooooooo excited and we are getting soooo close! :hyper: party: :boat: :tink: :rose: :dog: :flower1: :fish:

haha i luv the smilies!!!!

I just sent you a PM, we would like 1 large and 3 mediums for 4 total.

I spent yesterday dreaming about the beach as we were in the middle of being dumped on. Can anyone say "snowday"? Even the Madison Public Schools didn't have school and they haven't closed in over 5 years for weather.

Got it! Thanks for being so prompt. No real snow here in Chicago, just cold (wind chills at or below zero tonight and tomorrow). We need warm sun, palm trees, blue ocean..... :sunny:

I just thought I'd say hi!

I'm sailing on the 3-25 cruise and can't wait! My husband and I have cruised several times before but this will be the first time for my daughter (who is 2).

To answer someone's question about receiving confirmation about the port change: we got 3 letters from DCL on the same day. The confirmation of our trio (we booked late), the info packet, and a letter informing us that we will be going to Costa Maya.

This is going to be one long month!!!!

Jennifer
