March 25, 2006- Anyone else?

geffric, that is a terrific idea to get together with all the folks on this thread. :woohoo: As first-time Disney cruisers, DW, DD 12 (monkeybug94), and I defer to you veterans on where or when. The first day seems ideal, and your time and place sounds good as well, since it looks like a great spot for the sailway party and will allow us to all meet at the start of the cruise. Will someone have a sign?

Only 55 days! :ccat:

Any volunteers for the sign? Can we post a piece of artwork and all make buttons to wear???

Where do i get the cute timer that tells me how many days to go til cruise date?

My dd is anxious to meet others to go to camp with!!!

Hi! I'm skibum's 13 year old daughter!!! I CANNOT wait until the cruise!!! :mickeyjum I've already have all the door signs made and now I'm convincing my mom to go get the t-shirts and dye... :goofy: :donald:

~Minnie~

How do you make tshirts. DD (almost 9) would love that!! :sunny:

Hey everyone-
last year, we went crazy with stuff..this is what we did-
pillow cases with picture of the boat and teeshirts, too- (download pictures from a google seach then put on teeshirt transfer sheet then iron on). Had pillowcases signed by characters, also got a wedding matt frame at Michaels for auto graphs- both left at customer services on the boat for signatures.
Made fabulous door magnets- makes your room so easy to find! Got a magnetic sheet(Michaels again) and put stickers, etc. on it,
Made goodie welcome bags for each child- details if you wish....
Then sent the kids to the buffet up top, and RAN to the rooms with stuff we had stashed in our carry-ons and decorated the rooms before the kids got there. Then wandered up to the buffet and act casual.... FABULOUS!

Starting with ideas this year..... lots of fun.

I am artistically challanged, so sign and t shirts are beyond me. Plus I have boys so any artsy crafty things are out.. oh well..

but we can decide on the where to meet and how to recognize each other .. some one had mentioned that on another cruise thread that they were getting wrist bands.. any other ideas? I can make the list of everyone, their cabin number, late or early seating and ages of kids if you want ... All I would need is for each of you to pm me the info, then I can type up the list and sent it back to all in a word document..

Hey friends, I just read another post on main board referring to a "preliminary book" they received from DCL via their TA several months before trip. Sounds like it lists excursions and gives info on payment (which I know is past), and other dates.

I've earlier posted on this thread how my TA said there was no such thing... Can someone give me a title for this book, so I can ck more specifically with my TA? Or should I even try calling DCL direct? (I had really thought my TA was very good and tightly connected to Disney...)

Thanks

dlf246, I don't have my hands on my little book right now. I can tell you that it came just before our final payment was due. It did come through our TA. The letter that came with it reminded us of making our final payment and that the book had the excursions available. It also had formalwear information in it. It was not a bound book, but actually two or maybe even three smaller books rubberbanded into a cover.

Maybe someone has the exact title, if there is one, of the book.

I got a brown folder type thing called My Cruise Travel Kit and in it was a bound booklet containing 4 little books. It was called ship and shore vaction guides..

It was sent way before the final payment was due with a letter that reminder us to make reservations, pay etc..
Hope that helps.

Thank you geffric and myboysmom!

Now, how does it go,... "if at first you don't succeed, try..." will try again.

Well a friend of mine is crusing in April and the people on the thread are all going to order these bands in lime green and that say DIScruise . .
Geffric, as we are new to DCL, we will defer to veterans like yourselves!

For those of you who love Cozumel, Disney just switched the 2/11 Magic from Coz to Costa Maya. Ohhh, I hope they don't do same for us... One good sign is that the 2/11 people seemed to have trouble booking Coz excursions online, and our trip allows it.

I talked to disney a few days ago, they said we should be back to Czumel. I get a weekly update about Cozumel... they look good to me.

Here is hoping :wave2:

:thumbsup2 yep, I am not worried about going to Cozumel either. Can't see how we won't go there.. but if not , then okay, we will have a great time anyway you look at it.... ..

I found some one else that will be joining us on the March 25th cruise..:thumbsup2 and invited him over to join us on the thread..

Welcome Stay_home_Dad_Scott!

Those bands look kinda interesting. My boys are into those bands right now at school. It could be a way to not draw too much attention, yet still be able to recognize us.

Yes, sort of like a "secret sign" for friendly, fun-loving people! It would be especially nice for meeting folks while we're at the terminal waiting to board. Thanks to the advice of veteran DIS cruisers on this thread, we've decided to rent a Budget car to get to the ship on the day we leave, so we can get there early enough to try to be one of the first few groups boarding. Not that we're anxious to start this vacation or anything.... :goofy: :ccat: :tigger:

Hi everyone!

My DW and I will be on our third Disney cruise, the second without our 3 kids - and this time, we're bringing friends! They're going on their first cruise ever to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, and the 4 of us are really looking forward to the Mouse showing us a good time.

I've been reading your posts with interest for a while now, and geffric invited me to join the thread.

Won't be long now - wonder who the on-board entertainment is these days? By far the best we've seen in our previous cruises was Dan Riley - hope he's back on board!

Yeah...those green wristbands are cool! Maybe they could say "March 25, 2006 Magic with the DIS", or "DIS Magic 3/25/06" so that we could wear them even when we're not on the ship as a memory of our cruise! :tink:

lflynn: There's a thread that gives t-shirt ideas, although I don't have the link. :guilty:

Welcome Minnie328 and Stay_home_Dad_Scott!

This thread is starting to really take off. If you go back to the beginning (almost 18 months ago) it was just 2 or 3 of us. We were optimistic we would be the only ones on the boat :rotfl2: However, as we won't be the only ones on the ship, we are glad that you are joining us.

After a grey, raining winter sun and sand is looking really good. The boys are getting very excited about our trip, long drive and everything.

Hi Everybody,
started the surprise bags today- I have 11-15 year old girls... got confetti and silly string for the sailaway party, candy bars for the movies, underwater cameras for the beach, sun scren stuff and lotion.... I find most of my stuff at the dollar store.
LOVE the wristbands- let me know what you guys are ordering and I will follow. Was thinking more about Disney Cruise Line rather than Disboards since the kids have little to do with this....
Looking for Mexican themed Mickey ideas for teeshirts, did the boat last year.
Love the planning and the surprises- think I enjoy the plotting and planning as much as they enjoy the gift :yay:
