March 2014 car rental!

Just booked a Ford Focus through Budget via Costco Canada for 14 days for a grand total of $460.37.

Rates are staying higher this year and I'm hopeful we can book another at a lower rate later but secured a car in the event we cannot find a better rate.

Looking for a rental - from Disney to be returned to MCO for March 15 - 20.

Have Avis booked from the Hilton, but are there any other options from Disney?

Thanks!

Yes, Alamo/National at Car Care Center outside MK and Dolphin. Also, Dollar and Budget are near the Hilton also (assuming you mean Hotel Plaza Blvd Hilton). I forget what's where, but one is at the Doubletree and I think the other across from the Hilton at Wyndham.

I have booked through Costco a Compact Mar 22 -April 1 for $478.14 (Alamo)
That is SOOOOO expensive compared to what we usually pay, at least twice as much! I will keep my eye out but so far have found nothing cheaper.

For those of you looking for a mid-size SUV in the first half of March, Dollar has a $34/day or $190/week base rate going on. I don't know for a fact that it will work at MCO, but it may be worth a look. Promo code is 5CO6M and is publicly available on the Dollar website.

I used this code. Dollar has been offering a full size for $17.99/day, but not in March yet. I will jump on that if they have it. OTherwise I am happy with this. Full size right now is $46/day.

Our dates changed so I rebooked through Costco yesterday. Now we have a standard through Alamo.
Pickup MCO 3/26
Drop off TPA 4/5
$358

I checked this morning and that same car is over $550 today!

I've fought with rental web sites all day. One won't take my member number another gives me one price one minute and another price 15 minutes later:headache: I have been trying to book the SUV special through Dollar and the site will not update my information. Maybe tomorrow.

Hoping to see some downward movement soon! I am honestly shocked that prices are as high as they are. Then again, I've not ever been at the end of March/beginning of April before. I'm just going off of October and Decembers rates.

I currently have a standard through National for $220 3/30-4/5. That seems insanely high or am I dreaming that it should be a lot lower?

Folks, relax. It isn't time yet. The very early March rentals won't be going down until mid-Feb. If you're really curious, pretend your trip is 6-8 weeks earlier and plug in those dates. (March is busier than Jan/Feb, so the discounts might not be quite the same)

Maciec, the only thing that bothers me about your situation is that you're essentially renting for a week, but don't have a Saturday night stay. Typically the best weekly rates require a Saturday night stay and you'll see that requirement on some of the coupons. Your $220 isn't horrible, but I'm pretty sure you'll do better.

Yea, unfortunately we can't go on Saturday. I know that most coupon require a Saturday night stay so I'm out of luck there. I am hoping Priceline pulls through for me.

Just booked Premium thru Alamo for Feb 28-Mar 7 for $349 all in (TPA). The only class cheaper was either an economy or a mid-size! Rates are so high :confused3 but they always are high this time of year in Florida. I'd be very happy to shave $100 off that price between now and March!

You and me both, I have a SUV right now through Dollar but really just need a compact.

I wish I could go with a smaller vehicle to get a better deal but I have to go with a minivan or a SUV (not midsize) as I have 6 people. I own an Explorer so I know we can get away with that but I just have to keep playing the game until I find something reasonable. I have a $600 rental right now for 3/29 - 4/7 which I don't intend to keep. It just seemed to be a lot better than anything I had seen previously. In the past I have always done better as the trip got closer. I find that extremely frustrating but I it keeps me busy while waiting for my family trip!

The best I've done so far is with the the BJ's site. Good luck all!!!

You can try bidding for a minivan on priceline and save $$$. Tip start low and don`t listen to suggested bids offered by priceline.

I'm in the same boat. I only need a compact, but my contingency reservation right now is that Dollar SUV special ($34/day, $190/wk -- that's base)...it's well below what I'm seeing for compacts right now. As I said in earlier posts, I'm quite confident we'll see much better a few weeks out, but its always good to have a backup.

Exactly why I booked the SUV through Dollar. Hoping for the best.

I got a mini van through budget today for $354+$100 taxes and fees using code U096100. I have no idea if the code made a difference or not. I'm still in sticker shock over rental prices!
We need a seven seater...
I'm going to continue to troll for better deals...the stinker is that we are only driving it for 3 days. Then parking it and cruising for 5 days and then using it to drive back from port to MCO.

Another "thank you" for posting this code. It saved me almost $80 over the cheapest rate I had been able to find, and that was for an intermediate car!
