March 2012: Spring Break, Here we come! Threadjackers take over the world!

I just wanted to take a minute to say that I am so looking forward to meeting you Liddy...and D~ too! It has been so fun and entertaining to watch the two of you interact on here...:happytv:

I am super excited too!!!

Perhaps I should start charging admission. :confused3

I'm totally looking forward to meeting all my fellow DISers! :woohoo:

I agree - I think I need to charge admission to cover all these souvenir expenses. :rotfl2:

So Lidian, I must admite to you that I am super jealous of you for two reasons.
1. Your tickers has a lot less time on it than mine.
2. You get to have a dismeet with D. Lucky you.

I must admite that part of me is hoping to get a big tax return so that I can still put a large amount aside for our 2013 trip and have enough for a long weekend stay in March just so I could meet you girl in Epcot. I know, I'm a dork. Maybe I can even find someone to go with me to split the room cost. . .Well I can dream right. :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao::worship:

That would be awesome if you could come for a couple of days to meet up with us! You totally should! :lovestruc

Today I have a pretty decent To Do list.

The most exciting item on the To Do List? PAYING OFF OUR TRIP!!!!!:banana::banana: Now the trip feels REAL! It really feels like we're going to DISNEY!!!!

We have some changes to make ... but waiting on DH to decide on a final ADR. I wanted to get the kids involved with dining, to make sure we had at least one meal that THEY couldn't live without ... and as I was going over all the ADRs, they began to argue. Yes, I made the mistake of saying "Would you rather eat here or here?" :sad2: And since they argued, DH gets to pick out of the list for the our final ADR plans. They each have one meal that THEY want ... the rest is what DH wants from a list I made.

So stay tuned for final plans and ADRs ... hopefully this weekend. :thumbsup2

On to my To Do List!
  1. Target (to pick up a prescription and fill a new one)
  2. Hair appointment
  3. Pay off WDW trip!
  4. Volunteer at the kids' school
  5. Oil change (noticed it was past due!)
  6. Grocery store
  7. Possibly Kmart and Walmart

Fingers are crossed that Target will have my new prescription in stock. The last pharmacy I tried didn't stock the dosage (and it wasn't where I could split pills since it's capsules). So if Target can't fill my new prescrip, then I'll have to search for a pharmacy that can. Plus, I need to pick up a couple of odds and ends for school while I'm there. Not to mention, I'm searching out a new camera, so going to play with the displays a bit. I'll wait until I can get something on sale, but would like to get options ready. :thumbsup2

Hair appointment will be a bit longer, since I'm getting my grays covered. :scared1: And throw in picking up the kids at school somewhere in that mix. I know I won't finish everything before they get home.

But I am soo excited to pay off my trip!!!!:banana::banana:

We'll still have to adjust our park tickets when we arrive. But that's no issue, we'll just do it when we check-in. And I think that DD and I will have different tickets than the boys. Still working out details and waiting for DH to tell me what HE wants. Men. :sad2: :lmao:

Okay, out the door for awhile! Eeeeee! Sooo excited!!! :yay:

Darn kids shouldn't have fought... That'll teach them... You should take them to Cracker Barrel or something equally as Not! Disney... "because that's what dad picked" ROFL... That'll teach em'

Yes, I am mean like that. :rotfl2:

I need to do this too... But I am such a tightwad, I put an ixnay on all hair appts until 2 weeks before Disney - so we all look horrible at the moment...

[But I am soo excited to pay off my trip!!!!

I am probably almost as excited as you are.

I am not sure, but I am trying really hard, I might have enough to add all 8 days back on to our trip before the pay off date. That would relieve a lot of stress off of me. It's gonna be close.

Have fun today!! :wizard:

D~

Way to go on paying off your trip, Liddy!!!!! party: I know it was a hard road for you this last month or so...but you get to see Mickey, D~ and me so it is sooooo worth it! :rotfl2: DH and I paid off our trip the same day we booked our flights. I agree with you, now we KNOW that it's REALLY gonna happen!!! :dancer:

It's not a WDW trip without having some wrenches thrown in right? ....

Here is what I'm thinking ...
Sunday, 3/4, arrive and check-in and send the kids on the CBR pirate cruise (from 9:30 - 11:30); this will give me time to sight-see the resort without worrying about the kids; lunch at OPR; if weather permitting swim at resort or go to a WP; possibly visit DTD and have dinner there; after we're done spending time together, DD and I go to PM EMH at MK; the rest of the week remains unchanged except no 1900 PF and CP moved to 3/6
...Anyone have any thoughts they'd like to share while I work out my situation?

LOL I apparently ALWAYS have an opinion (just ask DH).

I think that maybe that particular Pluto may have had a seam showing or something, so that DS knew that THIS pluto was a costume, but that the real one is still out there. You know, like how some kids realize the guy at the mall is not Santa because its 3 days before Christmas and Santa clearly has work to do in the workshop. :goodvibes

That said, I would pick character interactions with people characters, like Akershus & 1900 PF, or the meal in France where Remy is a little rat.

Re: RFC & noise. ....if you even think DS will be freaked, skip it. I love RFC,but HATE TRex, mostly because I love the animal noises and hate the dino roars AND the wierd lighting changes. I would not want to ruin everyone's meal (in your group & the tables around you) risking a freak out at an unruly ape. ;)

What is this pirate ride that you can send your kids on??? can you send me a link to a conversation here or something? I have only ever heard of the $$$ pirate ride where the whole family goes to watch fireworks.

Anyway ... after lunch, we'll wander around WSC. This year, I want to focus more on exploring the different countries. I think I'm going to do like a "Flat Stanley" thing for the kids ... but let them pick the "Flat" character. Maybe I'll let them each do one. I'm thinking they can do a little presentation back at school (if their teacher allows it), or maybe in their culture class. I'll get with the teachers ahead of time to be sure it's okay, but I still want to do something for the kids anyway.

this is a cool idea -- i may have to borrow it for next year

I want to see more of the street shows, and there's still a few shows we haven't seen in WSC. At some point, we'll be at Norway for the Storytime Experience. I've not called and booked it yet because I needed to sort some stuff out. I will probably call tomorrow and get it booked. I need to get the times pulled out and see where I can work some of them in at. The kids had a blast with it last year, so looking forward to it again!

can you do the Norway Story time if you didn't reserve through AAA?

You have quite a busy Epcot day!

Today I have a pretty decent To Do list.

:yay:

YAY YAY for paying off your trip!

and that is totally how I would have handled arguments about dinners -- MY CHOICE LOL

I am so glad this is all working for you!

Yay! For paying off your trip :) I have a little bit left and since we didn't do the package we can just wait to pay it when we get there.

And Yay! For Target :) I wish ours wasn't an hour away. I could live at that place!

WE ARE OFFICIALLY PAID IN FULL!
:banana::banana::banana:
:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Liddy!!! I am so happy for you!!! Yay - Liddy, Oopsi and D~ take on the world...

HUZZAH! We are so taking on the world! It's even official! No turning back now! :woohoo:

Darn kids shouldn't have fought... That'll teach them... You should take them to Cracker Barrel or something equally as Not! Disney... "because that's what dad picked" ROFL... That'll teach em'

Yes, I am mean like that.

If only Cracker Barrel (or similar) was on the DDP. We'd probably do it just to be awful. :rotfl2: DH still hasn't decided. I gave him a list, and as long as it's on the list, I'll agree to it. But he has to at least decide, or narrow it down. If he won't, then I dunno what I'll do! :scared1:

I hope they have it too.

They did, and insuranced covered 9 (out of 15) pills for my generic copay!

I need to do this too... But I am such a tightwad, I put an ixnay on all hair appts until 2 weeks before Disney - so we all look horrible at the moment...

I just go for gray coverage ... and classes start next week, so I wanted to be looking as young as I can pull off. I shouldn't need a touch-up before our trip. :thumbsup2

I am probably almost as excited as you are.

Nope, can't be!

I am not sure, but I am trying really hard, I might have enough to add all 8 days back on to our trip before the pay off date. That would relieve a lot of stress off of me. It's gonna be close.

Have fun today!!

D~

Adding all days will be awesome! Sounds like you're making amazing progress with your saving!!! :cloud9: I'm not going to make ticket changes because DD and mine will be different from the boys. The only way I can do that is at WDW, so I'll just wait for the ticket changes then. :thumbsup2

Way to go on paying off your trip, Liddy!!!!! I know it was a hard road for you this last month or so...but you get to see Mickey, D~ and me so it is sooooo worth it! DH and I paid off our trip the same day we booked our flights. I agree with you, now we KNOW that it's REALLY gonna happen!!!

Thank you oopsi!!! :flower3: I've been so worried we'd have to cancel, so it was hard to get excited... and NOW I CAN BE EXCITED!!! :woohoo:

We are going to have a blast at the DISmeet! I can't wait!

Glad that you're all paid off and flights booked and everything oopsi!!!!! :yay:

LOL I apparently ALWAYS have an opinion (just ask DH).

That's okay. We should start a club. DH says the same thing about me. :lmao:

I think that maybe that particular Pluto may have had a seam showing or something, so that DS knew that THIS pluto was a costume, but that the real one is still out there. You know, like how some kids realize the guy at the mall is not Santa because its 3 days before Christmas and Santa clearly has work to do in the workshop.

Maybe ... maybe he could tell it was a costume or something ... but ... I dunno. I didn't ask questions, I just wanted the topic to be changed. :guilty: But maybe he does think it was a "Pluto helper" or something.

That said, I would pick character interactions with people characters, like Akershus & 1900 PF, or the meal in France where Remy is a little rat.

We definitely have Akershus. We currently have 1900 PF, but working out some details, it may or may not stay. He begged for a Donald meal, so we have lunch at Tusker House. So maybe it was just a one-time incident ... because he insists on meeting Donald. :thumbsup2

Animatronics creep me out .... but I'm all about the good food and I can try to forget there's a Wooly Mammoth staring me down if the food is delish enough. When I told DH about the kids arguing, DH asked what options were on the list and asked me to pull up menus for RFC and T-Rex. He hasn't given a response yet ... but DH is certain that DS will be fine. I'm just not so sure. :scared:

What is this pirate ride that you can send your kids on??? can you send me a link to a conversation here or something? I have only ever heard of the $$$ pirate ride where the whole family goes to watch fireworks.

It's a kid's only pirate adventure cruise. They have them at a few resorts (ones with a lake anyway) ... CBR, GF, etc. The kids are boarded onto a boat (small I'm sure) and they go in search of treasure and hear pirate tales.

The Official CBR thread has some info on it:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2495213

Post #1 has a picture of the sign (towards the end of the first post) about Islands of Caribbean (it has the skull and crossbones).

I'm sure there's other posts in it ... but that's all I can come up with on the DIS. I know most of the resorts with a lake (POR, GF, etc) have a similar "cruise". It's just for kids 4-12 and they get served a PB&J uncrustable and some other little snacky foods for "lunch". It's about $35 per child. Each resort does select days, and it's in the AM, around 9ish to 11ish. So it's not like you can run off to a park or anything, but it could make for exploring the resort easier! :thumbsup2

this is a cool idea -- i may have to borrow it for next year

Borrow away! :goodvibes

can you do the Norway Story time if you didn't reserve through AAA?

Nope, it's a AAA member exclusive. You must be a AAA member and you must book with AAA. You get a "voucher" in your Mickey Mail that you have to present when you check-in. And you must have an ADR for it as well. It's another reason why I love booking with AAA. :cloud9:

You have quite a busy Epcot day!

Yep! :thumbsup2

We haven't had our Target very long ... a few years or so. But I am so thankful for it! And yes, I could live in there as well ... :lmao: Sorry yours is so far away though. :guilty:

That would be awesome if you could come for a couple of days to meet up with us! You totally should! :lovestruc

D~

Corrine, you can always change your ticker. I wouldn't mind if you showed up and hung out with us. :goodvibes

Ohhh, I so want to go but could only go if I got enough tax money to cover the amount I want to save for next years trip and for a long weekend this march. Than it depends if I get the money in time to be there at the same time as you girls, can get a good flight, and make sure someone is watching the kids. It's a lot of things to juggle, but I sooooooo want to go. I have been wanting to meet you for almost a year now Liddy.:lmao:

Congrats on pay off the trip. Can you beleive it, you are going to Disney World.

I'm only there Sunday through Friday AM ... so you'd have to at least come down Thursday night (in time for our DISmeet)! If you showed up, I wouldn't be mad, I promise!

I hated that I missed you and TK last year.

So DH finally decided what he wanted to do. Here is the official schedule (that may or may not change at some point in time).

March 3: Travel day; arrive in WDW area, stay at off-site hotel; hang out with Kouga & Akki for the evening

March 4: Wake up at an ungodly hour; drive the short distance over to CBR; check-in; head over to EP for the morning and afternoon; dinner at GG at 4:15; head back to resort after dinner for exploring; DD and I will "hop" to MK for late EMH then back to resort for sleeps.

March 5: AK day, no changes. TH lunch at 11:15.

March 6: MK day; dinner at CP at 6:20.

March 7: DHS day; meet up with Kouga & Akki prior to park opening; go wild; dinner at 50s PTC at 6:50 for the 6 of us.

March 8: EP day; meet up with Kouga & Akki prior to park opening; find D and other DISers throughout the day; lunch at D's choice; dinner for 6 at Akershus at 4:55; leave park early and head to POR and meet DISers; go wild; head back to resort for sleeps.

March 9: Be depressed; pack; be very depressed; load the car; be super depressed; breakfast ADR at Kona at 8:15; head back to TN.

The only rows hidden are the ones that have confirmations, but here's a screenshot of my spreadsheet:

itinerary.jpg

It looks like estimate travel expenses will be around $650 (gas, hotel, OOP meals, tips). This does not include souveniours, PP pictures, etc.

I'm anxious to see how close to my guesstimates I am ... and I'm also anxious to see if the DDP saves money (yes, it saved US money because it was FREE; but trying to gage if it's better to take a good room discount and pay OOP for meals or if a DDP is a better value). I know in the past the DDP would have saved us money if we paid for it ... but I'm curious if that's still the case with the pretty large price increase for the DDP. So numbers will be included in the TR. :thumbsup2 Plus, I'm a geek like that.

Our "arrival day" is still not set in stone. DH wanted to do T-Rex, against my better wishes, but there is no availability for dinner (only around 3:30pm). So if the weather is really nice, we may do a WP instead. And if DH insists on T-Rex, we can try as a walk-up; I will have to at least have notice so I can cancel the GG ADR without being charged a fee. I guess we'll watch the 10day forecast and judge from there. :goodvibes

so glad your DH made his decision. Everything looks good. FYI- When we went in may we were unable to make ressies at T Rex through Disney but was able to call them and get a good time. Have you tried calling T Rex?

:cool1: Yippee for being paid in full! Congrats!

Just my 2 cents about the cruise. It is a small boat...or at least it was for
the GF Cruise that I sent my kids off for our June trip. See:
pirates1.jpg

Mine seemed to enjoy it...mostly. You can read my June TR for more information about how it went and a few more photos. Of course, the advantage of doing it from the GF was that I hopped on the monorail and went right over to spend a little "ME" time in MK...alone! I didn't have a lot of time there, but it was enough. Of course, I was also late returning, didn't judge my monorail return time as well as I could have and it was running slower and stopped which didn't help!

T-Rex and RFC only allow an allotment of ADRs for WDW guests, they do take personal ADRs and walk-ups. They want to have availability for the DTD folks shopping and locals. :goodvibes

I know I can call them ... but don't tell DH that. I just sent him a text that said "No ADRs available on website. Sorry!" :lmao::rotfl2: I really don't think it's a good idea. However, I have no issues booking something else at DTD and taking DS by early and seeing how he fares -- and if he fares well, cancelling the ADR and walking-in for T-Rex. But right now, it's a GG ADR ... I'm going to wait and see what the weather is like. I really want to get some time exploring the resort and knocking out some EP stuff ... so we'll make an absolute decision around ... 5 days out or so. :thumbsup2

I figured it would be a small boat ... so thanks for the pic!!! I'll head over to your TR and check it out. I'm not certain if we'll do it or not ... I'm kind of thinking I'd prefer more EP time -- especially since we will have several meet-ups and will have to tour slower than usual because of Kouga & Akki.

Sorry to hear you was late returning. :headache: It's why I figured I'd just explore the resort if they did the cruise. I could take pictures without having to make sure the kids were nearby and behaving.

NO problem! Here's a quick link to where it begins, since I didn't include a nice page with all my TR links within my trip report:

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=42791338&postcount=65

It continues in Post #66 and beyond I think!

Thanks, but I'm busy reading the whole thing! I love reading TRs. :cloud9: I'm at the part where you were helping to push Space Mtn along. :rotfl2: Anxiously waiting to see if your DS6 liked it. :thumbsup2

:confused3 I didn't remember that part myself about SM...so I had to go back and read my own trip report again. Ah memories! Just makes me ready to be back there now! :thumbsup2

Less than 60 DAYS!! Yippee!! :dance3:

Oh.... don't forget to take pictures of your tickets. ;)
