March 2012: Spring Break, Here we come! Threadjackers take over the world!

I will come dance with you for 40 Days I thought it was 41 but not gonna argue :banana::banana:

Duh me your coming in a day before me now I am at 41 Days :lmao:

I like this plan. What else are you gonna do that night except not sleep cause you are so excited to leave in the morning. It'll make the next day soooo much more relaxing :) Yay!

Well, you can come in earlier, too, and make it 40 days.

Thanks for dancing! :dancer:

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I love the "shoving the food" in DH's mouth. :lmao:

:woohoo::woohoo: Thanks for celebrating with me!

I'll have to shove it down his throat, otherwise he may take his time. :confused3 That doesn't compute well in my schedule. :rotfl2:

I'll sleep pretty well, I think. It will be Thursday night that I won't sleep. I'll feel like my trip officially starts on Friday ... so I should sleep well Friday night. Plus, I'll probably sleep in the car. :rotfl: (Go, go Dramamine!)

And if I don't sleep, I'll go over my lists ... like in the "I Don't Know How She Does It" movie. I just watched that movie over the weekend, and I totally felt her when she was doing the lists while laying in bed. (I'm glad that I'm not the only one now, even if it is a fictional character. lol)

I'll be thinking about what rides, praying for Dumbo to open, etc. :thumbsup2 And if I truly can't sleep, I'll get up and play on my laptop. Yep, I'll surf the DIS. :disrocks:

:cool1::banana::cheer2: Woohooo!!! 40 DAYS!:cool1::banana::cheer2:

:dancer: Thanks for celebrating with me!

After some sleep, (hopefully good sleep), we'll wake up early and have some breakfast. Odds are good that the hotel will have a continental breakfast, so we'll partake of that. If not, we'll hit a McD's or BK or something quick and easy on the way out. Once we check-out of the hotel, we'll continue heading south towards DISNEYWORLD! :woohoo: I'd like to be back on the road by 7am.

I expect about a 4-5 hour drive will still be left. If we head out around 7am, that would put us arriving around lunch time.

This is where things get a little "iffy"....

After we finish our drive ... we'll see:

Karenscamera005.jpg

One of the best things to see. :cloud9:

We'll continue to drive until we see .....

Not my picture!

I'd really like to stay here....
CBR101.jpg

Thank you for the screen print, Disney!

.... but it's a preferred village, so we'll just have to wait and see where WDW puts us. :goodvibes

We'll check-in. If our room is ready, we'll go put our luggage away, first. Otherwise, we'll head to DTD for some lunch!

We'll eat at either WGP (or Express), EoS, RFC, or T-Rex. We aren't quite decided. We'll play it by ear and see how finances are and what we're hungry for.

After lunch, we'll do one of three things. And it all largely depends on the weather.

#1: Go to ....

Karenscamera006.jpg

But this depends on super nice weather conditions. It must be HOT and sunny.

#2: Play a round of Mini Golf. We haven't decided which course. :confused3 Suggestions (along with reasons) are great!

#3: Nothing. If the weather isn't cooperating, we'll probably just chill in the room. If it's not raining, we may go explore the resort. And there's a possibility that we may go swimming. So this afternoon depends a lot on the weather. The temperature, as well as clouds, will determine what we do. They are listed in order of preference.

I do want to take plenty of time to explore the resort. I'll be toting a new camera (which I'll purchase next month, depending on what's on sale), so I'll want to get some nice shots of the resort. We'll see if anything is going on. It's possible we might go to Epcot at some point in this day, but not likely. Why? Well, you'll have to wait and see.

For dinner, we'll probably go to OPR and enjoy something from one of the bays. Or perhaps we'll stop into Shutter's. Then again, DH may want to go back to DTD. Who knows. :confused3 All I know is that we'll have two meals at WDW that we'll pay OOP. So hopefully he won't break the bank too much. :lmao:

After dinner, we'll unwind. We'll get settled in for our trip (unpack) and get cozy. We'll probably watch some TV and then shower and turn in early. We have a LONG day ahead of us tomorrow. DH doesn't know the full details of our trip, and he's going to be so mad at me. But ... he loves me and he'll get over it. Let's just say, one of the deals I made with him was "no early mornings". :rolleyes1 I am honoring that deal on most mornings ... but we have some mornings that are VERY early. Okay, so most mornings are early. :rotfl2: (Hey, gotta take advantage of those EMH's, right?) Tomorrow, he'll forgive me over the awesome ADR I scheduled for him. (I hope.) So off to dream-land we'll go ...

On a side note, I am currently etching everything into stone. I'm not making any more changes!!!!! NONE! So I'll be posting the updated stuff over the next few days. :thumbsup2

Stay tuned to see what happens on Sunday, March 4th! :thumbsup2

I am so anxious to hear where Disney puts you... I am still kind of kicking myself that we didn't do a CBR pirate room... Oh well - we will love POFQ, I am sure of it. Besides, once we have dinner at Boma - the girls will never want to stay anywhere but AKL. LOL

Honestly, I have no opinion to add here... I didn't even know there was any mini-golf in WDW. :confused3 Well, I am sure it's there - I have just never heard anything about it or where it might be??? LOL

D~ <---- Doesn't do well with change. :rolleyes1

Arrival day sounds good. I hope your room is ready when you check in.
My choice for lunch would be T-Rex now that it has been added to the DP. I want to eat there in fact made a lunch reservation for there but cancelled it in favor of surprising DH. Sometimes I forget the trip is not just about what I want.

Blizzard Beach could be iffy weather-wise

Never did the mini-golf while at Disney so no help from me here.

Are you looking for a P & S, also what is your camera budget? I bought another new camera a couple of months ago and really need to play around with it more but it was reasonable it is an Olympus with 20x zoom and was around $200.

CBR is a beaurtiful resort and lots to explore , I can not convince DH to stay there even after showing him the pics from my one DIS friends TR. Years ago I wanted to stay there when it was new and he feels it is just too large.
We stayed at CSR and he liked it but we went opening day and the resort was opening in phases so technically it was "not big" when we stayed there.

From all the pictures I have seen OPR looks amazing as far as food courts go.

I know what happens on Sunday March 4th..................I arrive :lmao:

Honestly, I'd rather be at POFQ. But not because I don't love CBR ... but because I'd really like to try NEW places! But perhaps I can get POFQ for the next trip. :cloud9:

Ooooh - I've always wanted to try a water park, but I am too much of a tightwad to buy the tickets... :confused3

We did the WPs back in 2010. The only thing I didn't like about them was the fact that it was overcast and chilly. :sad2: We did a family slide (which made DS cry) and I spent the rest of the time at both parks in the kiddie area. I went around one of the "lazy rivers" once, but not sure which one. So I feel like I didn't get to experience them. DH and DD did some of the slides. It was just too chilly to move from one area to the next being wet. The water itself was fine ... but once you go out. BRRR! So odds are slim we'll get to go this year ... but you never know! :lmao:

Honestly, I have no opinion to add here... I didn't even know there was any mini-golf in WDW. :confused3 Well, I am sure it's there - I have just never heard anything about it or where it might be??? LOL

There's actually two mini-golf places. Fantasia and Winter Summerland. They both have two courses each. So there's a total of four courses to play.

Honestly, the more I think about it, the more I kind of want to go spend a few hours at Epcot. But it would only be a few hours. Three at the max. I know DH will fight it (you'll have to wait and see why). But we'll have to wait and see what the weather does and where we end up. I'll be sure to eat a pretzel for you IF we go to MK this year. ;) You have 4+ years to make up. You'll need some help. :rotfl2:

I am curious to see what camera you choose. :surfweb:

Well, it will be whatever is on sale at Target. :lmao: It will have minimum requirements, and I'm looking to spend around $150 or less. I'll have to wait and see what they put on sale and check up on reviews. Worst case, at the end of Februrary, I'll pay full price for something. :confused3

Hmmm.... This has piqued my interest... :surfweb:

Well.... that's not what I meant. I've made a TON of changes over the past few days. But I'm done with changes, so I can start posting about them. I had to write them in stone first. :thumbsup2

I've made .... hmm... ADR changes, park changes, Kouga & Akki changes ..... Lots of good stuff. Gosh, I even changed our dates! So you'll have to sit tight and see what else is going on. :surfweb:

Well, not sure if DS can handle T-Rex or RFC. Plus, we won't be on the DDP this day. We're staying SRO offer for that night, so no free food for us. We eat whatever DH decides. I just know it would be from that list. :lmao:

Blizzard Beach could be iffy weather-wise

Yep. Hoping for sunny, warm weather though! :cloud9:

Never did the mini-golf while at Disney so no help from me here.

Every year we say we'll go and never do. :lmao:

Are you looking for a P & S, also what is your camera budget? I bought another new camera a couple of months ago and really need to play around with it more but it was reasonable it is an Olympus with 20x zoom and was around $200.

I dunno what a P & S is. :confused3 I'm looking to spend around $150 (or less). Right now I have a Sony Cyber-shot 7.2 MP camera. So really, most things are going to be an upgrade. :lmao: I think I paid about $100 for it forever years ago.

DH fell in love with CSR. It was nice, and I loved the slide. But I didn't explore it either. I think DH compared them on a map and they're really close to the same size.

From all the pictures I have seen OPR looks amazing as far as food courts go.

No complaints from us on the food court! We enjoyed it in 2010. I think we ate there two or three times. Never had an issue, food was always delish!

I know what happens on Sunday March 4th..................I arrive :lmao:

WOOT! :woohoo: But odds are good, we won't be running into each other on this day. :lmao: Wait, I take that back. There could potentially be a "run-in". ;)

My bad, I forgot we talked about your DS maybe getting scared in T-Rex.

I can not believe you are only planning on spending 3 hours in Epcot, it is my favorite Park

P & S (Point and Shoot) Three years ago I bought a fuji bridge camera( between a P&S and DSLR) while it takes beautiful pictures I found it cumbersome in the parks, so for my trip last year that I cancelled I bought a GE 8X P & S but after playing with it while the pictures were not bad I was not happy with the zoom and it is touch screen which I found harder to navigate for some reason. About four months ago I bought the Oympus with the 20x zoom so far the only complaint I have is in order to shoot in low light without a tripod you need a very steady hand or still use the flash or the pics blur. I thought having lots of ISO speed would be a good thing but not if you do not have a steady hand :rotfl:
It has manual controls I think so I do need to play around with it more so I can get some good night time pics

If I am thinking correctly February is when they have the big electronics show in Vegas and lots of cameras go on sale, seems to me that is when I bought my fuji. Good luck in finding the perfect camera.

Oh before I bought my fuji I was still using the first Digital camera I ever bought back in 2001 maybe ? a Kodak easyshare 1MP paid $100 for it, I do think it was one of the first digitals on the market, it took great pics to for only being a 1MP and had the shutter release not started getting qwerky on me I might be still using it. My DS has a kodak that he loves, its small and fits in a shirt pocket.

I hope if we have a "run in " it is not literal as I am still thinking about renting the ACV I really do not trust my knee or back plus walking long distances while better now with my new meds I am still not 100%

No longer heading to MK on arrival day as of now here is what my day looks like

Well... I guess you'll just have to wait and see. :rolleyes1 (I love Epcot, too!)

Oh! That makes sense. I should be lucky I'm allowed to own a camera.

Three years ago I bought a fuji bridge camera( between a P&S and DSLR) while it takes beautiful pictures I found it cumbersome in the parks, so for my trip last year that I cancelled I bought a GE 8X P & S but after playing with it while the pictures were not bad I was not happy with the zoom and it is touch screen which I found harder to navigate for some reason. My hands shake. I can't be steady to save my life. :sad2: And I am NOT lugging a tripod around. :lmao: My camera doesn't do a horrible job at low-light pictures. It's not great ... but not bad. Usually the pictures are just low-light. But not really noticed any blur issues.

If I am thinking correctly February is when they have the big electronics show in Vegas and lots of cameras go on sale, seems to me that is when I bought my fuji. Good luck in finding the perfect camera.

Well, I won't be in Vegas... I'll go to my local Target. :lmao:

I love mine. But, I'd like something better. Mine still works great. Worst case, I don't buy a new one and use this one. However, I'd like to buy a new one and let DH and the kids use my old one. I'd like to actually be in some pictures this year. The kids will never believe I've gone to WDW when they get older, as I'm in very few pictures. :rotfl2:

I want to add my .02¢ about the camera... Seeing as I see a lot of the results from a lot of cameras... LOL I do want to add that I am not an expert, I just play one on TV. LOL ;)

Statistically... Nikon and Cannon have the easiest to use/best results from a P & S. But with in that - there are Nikons and Cannons that get really bad reviews. I know you will do your research... I love reading reviews on Amazon - even though people don't always buy from them, they have a great review database. :)

When people come in and buy cameras from me, I really urge them to go online and find a hand-full of cameras in their price range with the important features they want, then go to Amazon and red the reviews to narrow down their choices... then find the best price and purchase it.

But, as a whole, I see the best results from the average P & S user with Nikon and Cannon... That is not to say that other brands are not good - because there are lots of great brands out there - it really depends on the user's ability to learn the features of their camera and use them to their advantage. :)

A lot of the bad reviews are from people who don't know how to use their cameras, too. :thumbsup2 Do I know how to use all the features on my Cyber-shot? Gosh, no! But the features I do know how to use work great and I'd give it big thumbs up. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

So just FYI to other people, D is right - read reviews, but read them with an open mind in case they're upset that they don't know how to use the camera and refuse to read the manual. ;)

I don't ask my local Target electronic guy anything. I asked a question the other day and he was all .... :confused3 It was something simple and dumb, too. I think I asked if they had any waterproof cameras. (I found one by Fuji, but if they had others, it wasn't "advertised" as waterproof.)

And you know, I didn't think about Amazon. I may decide between select cameras and whoever puts it on sale first wins! :lmao:

Speaking of Amazon.... they're supposed to bring me a surprise today! I can't wait! :woohoo:

I can only think of 4 pics of me at WDW. One with Mickey that was a family picture(hmmm I need to find out about that passport thing I have a card someplace )
One taken in Mexico and one while on Splash Mt and one on TOT

Yep I think that is it.

Just loving the update of your first day at Disney. Praying for Hot sunny weather so you can enjoy the WP. :thumbsup2

Hopefully you DH will not be to crabby when you get him up early to enjoy those EMH's. Can't wait to see what special dinner you have for him on day 2.

As for Camera's I have a Nikon and absolutly love it, but I agree with D (see D I take your side once in a while.:lmao:) Do your reserch to find the one you will like the best with how much you want to spend. Make sure to find one that does everything you might want, so have a list of the things you want the camera to do. (ie: Have a large zoom, take pictures in low light, have smile recognition, touch screen):cool2:

OK, so I am going to thread Jack for a minute::scared1:

D-
As Liddy said there are two minature golf areas. I have not been to either but a friend of mine realy likes the theming of the winter one.:thumbsup2
But the thing I want to bring to your attention is that if you get the Disney Magic your Way package with Dinning (boy that was long winded), Disney comps you one round of mini golf per room. I copied and pasted this right from the WDW site to make sure that they were still doing it.

Disney's Miniature Golf Experience
Valid for one round of Miniature Golf per room at either Disney's Fantasia Gardens or Disney's Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Courses
.

OK, you can now return to your PTR Liddy.

There's only a handful of pics, and I look horrid in most. :lmao: And that's over the past three years. :sad2:

This year, I'm tracking down PP duders. I want pics of the whole family! And if DD/DH have a camera, I might end up in some impromptu pictures.

Thanks Corrine! :flower3: I'm hoping for nice weather... but it's hard to say for March.

My camera rules are:
1. Better than current one.
2. Easy to use.
3. Better than current one.
:lmao:

Yes, you do get a voucher, but it's only for one person. ;) Here's what the voucher actually says (so people understand that they mean one voucher per room = one voucher per room good for one person):

Just trying to clarify so people don't misunderstand your facts above Corrine. ;)

Plus, our package doesn't start until later in the week. :rolleyes1 We're currently on SRO for Saturday. :thumbsup2 So everything is OOP. :sad2:

Thanks for the info Corrine. We keep meaning to make use of that voucher (hey, not paying for one person is still nice!), but it just never happens. :rotfl2:

You have some great plans.

I am lucky I know where we are staying and eating

Plans look great for your arrival day. We love mini-golf at Disney (and if we get there on Saturday night this week, I will check the prices for you).

Earl of Sandwich for lunch or dinner -- yummy.
